“Excellent stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2013 via mobile

The two of us stayed here one week all inclusive but despite this we were given a studio in the main hotel. This was spacious and very clean. We had room 228 which was sea facing and our balcony had the sun all day and a beautiful view. The hotel was excellent and had a shop located on the ground floor which was ideal as it is a bit far out from the old town and on a large hill. We chose to eat in the restaurant a few times as the food was varied and we'd already paid for it. There was something to eat every night even for a fussy eater and if we missed breakfast which was a regular occurrence thanks to too many cocktails we were able to take advantage of the hot snack service which had cheeseburgers and chips etc. Dinner was themed every night so we could chose to stay in and eat or go out. We ate out a few nights and would thoroughly recommend Kristians and tj's caribean tapas which were a short walk downhill to the old town. We loved both and were the best meals of the holiday. A taxi to the old town was less than 4 euros and so location was really not an issue for us.

Overall we'd definetly recommend this hotel and we will definitely be returning and requesting room 228 as we could bot have had a better room. The flora is great value for money and choosing the all inclusive option meant we always had options.

Hotel was clean and in a good location in the Old Town. There is a bit of a hill climb to the hotel. On arrival at the hotel we were placed into a Studio apartment even though we had booked all Inclusive which was good as we ended up at the main pool area. The staff were friendly and very helpful with trips and recommendations for good restaurants. We had booked a 10 day trip all inclusive, the food was basic and after the first 5 days we ate out quite a bit. I would recommend this hotel but I would say go Self Catering as there is loads of nice restaurants in the Old Town of Puerto Del Carmen. I would visit this hotel again but would book self catering.

First impressions were good. The reception area is extremely modern looking, internet access available through computer or WiFi for a small fee. There are extensive brochures and leaflets there too, and the reception staff were very nice to us.

The Room:
===========

We stayed in room 393. This is in the second half of the hotel, with the first half containing reception area, restaurant, bar and main pool.

Inside we found a decent sized living are with TV (pay to watch), kitchen area and eating, and then at the back a room with en-suite.

We were All Inclusive, so didn't expect such a big place.

The room looked quite worn down, but actually well maintained and clean. The cleaning staff do a very good job.

Unfortunately, our room was directly next to a building site, and a busy main road. Annoyingly also, our window had a small square section without glass. Instead it was covered with a metal plate with holes in to allow ventilation. This meant that you couldn't block out outside noise.

3 nights I was woken by noise from the road, chickens waking up nearby and then at 8am (yes, on the dot), drilling and building noise.

It also concerned me that the window had bars on, there was only one way in and out, so any fire or emergency, meant you could potentially be trapped inside.

Also the pillows there were really poor, very soft and it actually get me a painful bad back and shoulders/neck which is still stiff now.

Food + Drink
========================

Excellent. The best all inclusive food I've head. Every day was different, inventive, loads of bread, fruit, salad, meat, vegetarian options.

At breakfast/lunch and dinner you could do your own drinks including soft ones, beer or wine, just go and pour yourself which was really good and handy.

Entertainment
=============================

Usually I don't like hotel entertainment that much but THB Flora did a great job. Their two entertainment staff (male+female - don't know their names) were really nice and good at their job.

One night was a magic show - really good, then a reptile show, bird show, music quiz, bingo, and a couple of singers on another night. All good.

During the day you can do shooting, archery, some other games which are timetabled in. Each day they come round and ask each person who wants to play. They don't hassle you and don't mind if you say no, which was good as some hotel entertainers are annoying.

Location
=====================

It's on a hill which we expected to be huge and steep and difficult. However it's absolutely nothing to worry about (unless you are disabled or lack mobility).

It's close to some bars and restaurants and a diving centre near the beach. Good location and near all the supermarkets and some really nice designer shops to in a nearby shopping centre.

Conclusion
=====================

If we had a better room, and it was slightly more modern then it would be a 5/5. But my concerns over the safety, sleep quality and bed pillows let it down.

There are far worse places, so wouldn't turn it down purely on these concerns alone.

Room Tip: Ask for one with a sea view, on the main side overlooking the main pool.

Dear Guest:
thank you for the kind comments. I will really look into getting some more brand new pillows as I wasn´t concern that some of them were not up to the required standard (please accept my appologies as I should have done it before).
We hope to have you back around in the near future.
kind regards

Just returned home from a week away at this hotel. All staff were excellent and extremely friendly. Food was ok and had a different theme every night, I am a very fussy eater but seemed to find something to eat every night!! Everywhere is spotlessly clean. Definitely will return to Flora in the future. Well done to all the staff.

We went self catering.
The room was very clean and tidy. The complex was quiet and the staff were friendly and helpful. We felt safe and that is always a good thing. The only thing is I feel that guests should get free wifi or at least at a cheaper price. But all in all we
Would recommend to everyone.

Dear Guest:
thanx for the comments.....we are actually checking the best way to provide wifi service at a cheaper rate, but due to the fact that it is provided by a cooperator, it needs some negotiating period beforehand. Hope to have it sorted before your next visit.

This was our 3rd stay at the Flora and once again it didn't disappoint. We were due to stay at Blue Sea Los Fiscos but due to the poor reviews changed our mind the week before and managed to get a studio apartment.

When we arrived we were welcomed by Carlos in reception who acknowledged this was our 3rd visit. Unfortunately our room wasn't ready (we were kind of expecting this as we were early) but we went for some lunch and came back an hour later to find we had been upgraded to a one bedroom apartment and to top this off we found in our room a bottle of Cava, a really nice touch and I did feel a bit guilty for not booking directly with them in the first place!

Apartment was nice. Just on the edge of the pool but even though they had evening entertainment, on the nights we came back early from town it didn't really disturb you and everything moved to the disco at 11pm.

Apartment was clean and maids came in 5 out of 7 days and we got clean towels on 3 of these. Beds are hard as some people have said but I prefer this, although I'd like to see some new pillows, these were a bit hard and lumpy. My husband didn't seem to notice though and I admit I'm a bit particular about pillows due to neck issues.

There are lots of cats at the apartments, we don't mind them and would stop to give them a fuss but if I was on a lower ground my concern would be one coming into the apartment and getting locked in. They are well looked after animals though and friendly.

We only ate breakfast on our last morning as we had gone self catering but admit we were blown away by the quality and choice. If all the meals were like this and I'd gone AI I wouldn't have been disappointed for the money.

The harbour seems to be a lot quieter, we noticed this last year, and our favourite bar appears to have been taken over and they don't do food which was a shame. Staff though were very friendly and we suspect fairly new at the game.

Took the water taxi t Pt Calero a couple of times which was a nice trip. You can walk this on the coastal path but due to mobility problems for my husband we took the lazy option.

Flora is at the top of a hill and it isn't too bad to walk. If you do have any mobility issues getting back up in a taxi is only 3 euros and all the drivers seemed happy to do this short trip.

Lots to do if you want a busy trip or the flora is nice to laze around, with 2 pools available. The pool in Flora 2 has no shallow end and isn't as busy if you like to have a bit of a swim in peace.

Now just to get the washing done and start saving for our next trip.

Room Tip: Flora 2 is across the room from the main building. These are just studio apartments but very peacef...

our last visit was in september 2013
we had a great room as usual beds a bit uncomfy
this was our fourth visit to this hotel the only issue we had was the food this time it was very bland
it turned out the head chef was on annual leave (which he is entitled to ) he arrived back in the hotel the day before we left to come home and the food was good as it normaly is
the hotel was under new managment when we visited what a differance we think this will make
smiler the barman needs to pour the spirit into the glass (plastic) before he starts to pour the cola
very short measures. all the other bar staff were fine
entertainment was same same as it has been for the last four visits needs to change ?
over all a great place for a nice holiday all the staff work very hard the animacion team do a great job we will be back to the Flora again very soon we hope
one bit of advice we would give is do not get the transfer from the airport it took us over an hour each time as the bus stops at every hole in the hedge before it arrives at the flora
a taxi on our last visit was only 15 mins and cost 15 euros we will be back soon

Room Tip: we always ask for pool and sea view
