Date Visited - 18th May 2008.

My wife, two children and I have just returned from a two week stay at the Cinco Plaza. I have to say we had a wonderful time and will definately be visiting Lanzarote and the Cinco Plaza again. The apartments were in a great location, just a five minute walk from the main strip and the great beach. The apartments (we had a one bedroom apartment) were very spacious, clean and well equipped, with all you need if you were to decide to have most of your meals there (although we chose to eat out the majority of the time). The only one little bug bear we had was that we were in a downstairs apartment and as previous reviews have mentioned it could be quite noisy....could actually here someone abovespending a penny on the loo....would definately book an upstairs apartment next time!! Talking of bug bears the only other problem we did have were unwanted visitors (namely cockroaches). They weren't too much of a problem for my wife and I, but the children weren't so keen. We bought a spray from the nearby supermarket (Netto) and before we went out each evening we sprayed all the crooks and crannies, we also found that leaving a light helped to keep them at bay. Talking of the nearby supermarket (Netto), be careful when shopping there and watch your change, as my wife and I were often short changed at the checkout. During your visit to Purto Del Carmen it is well worth the trip to Fire Mountain... we did the 'The Grand Tour' and although it seemed expensive at the time it was well worth the visit. We also did the 'Submarine Trip' and again althoug a little expensive was absolutely amazing... the kids loved it!! We spent a few days at the poolside and a few days at the beach (8 euro's for two beds and an umbrella) both most relaxing and enjoyable... beware though the pool and the sea were very cold!! Large beer in the day from around 1.50 euro's and at night from 3.00 euro's, bottle of Magners cider 5.00 euro's (my wife thought that was a little over the top), I thought it was a most welcoming refreshing drink....as you do! Watch out for the pub touts (if thats the right word to use) when you are out and about on the strip at night, they drive you mad trying to get you to visit their bars.. in the end we got wise and crossed over and walked on the opposite side of the road (by the beach). All in all we had a brilliant time and would reccommend both Purto Del Carmen and the Cinco Plaza's to couples or families alike. Go see and enjoy!!!

My boyfriend and I stayed in these apartments for 2 weeks in May. We had a fab time, loved every minute of it!

Cinco Plaza's are great apartments. They are really clean and very well kept. Not too busy either. The apartments are on 2 levels - we were on the ground floor. The only little gripe, as someone else said, the walls/ceilings are really thin and some people aren't bothered how much noise they make! I even got woke up one morning with the person above snoring!

Anyway.... the room was great - we had a 1 bedroom apt which was massive and suprisingly nice and cool even though we didnt have air con. The kitchen area was fine but dont assume they'd be water, washing up liquid like people said as we didnt have any. We had a front and back balcony which was nice.

The cleaning was fine - though they don't knock and just walk in so we left the key in the door to avoid them waking us up every morning! (they come pretty early) The cleaning was fine, though there were some cobwebs in the corners of the living and bedroom which were there all the time we were! And, everytime that the cleaners had been, at night (in the bathroom) we had some unwanted visits off Cockroaches (bloody massive!) so we prefered to clean the room ourselves and just get clean towels off the trolly.

The communal areas such as the pool were spotless too. As we went in May, it wasn't too bad for sunbeds but a lot of guests were going down around 9am to reserve sunbeds and then not using them til mid-afternoon which I found really annoying. We only struggled twice not to get a space. There are 3 pools though so we went to one of the other ones.

Cinco Plaza's are well situated in PDC. Simply walk down the road and you're on the main strip. Go right and be accosted by PR people trying to get you into their bars. Go left and you'll find some lovely restaurants and smaller bars - and no PR people! Woohoo! They are in the new town and it is about a 10-15 min walk into the old town.

Try and avoid the Lani's restaurants. The service is fine but the food isn't as good as the other restaurants in PDC. The best one we found is Antica Tratorria which is further down the strip to the left. There is a good Mexican too, which overlooks the beach but I've forgotten the name.

Spinnakers, which is outside Cinco Plaza's is a great Irish bar. It serves decent food and Sun - Thurs before 7pm, they have a Happy Hour where San Meg' is 1.50€! They have good evening entertainment - Sparkle Lee's Drag Show is a must - he is on on Sat and Monday nights and is well worth a watch. It is fine for the kids too.

We booked with Portland Direct and went on a couple of trips with them - the best being Volcan Grill. It was 111€ for both of us but you get a guided tour around the Volcano's then you go back to the restaurant and have you meal cooked by the heat of the Volcano - amazing! And there is unlimited Sangria!

All in all we had a perfect holiday. You can't find much better apartments than Cinco Plaza. We'd definately go back and have recommended them to everyone.

Arrived back from the cinco plaza apartments just yesterday. The apartments are amazing the most modern i have ever been to after travelling to many different destinations. I would certainly re-visit. Plenty of entertainment including waterepolo in the day (james the entertainment rep is fantastic) and the entertainment at night is also good especially if you have young children. In my opinion puerto del carmen was all the same though, every restaurant is pratically the same, the serve grills, pasta and pizza that is it, apart from the chinese restaurants. You tend to get hassled alot on the right side at the front and this is mainly by the english people living there.
The netto right next to the apartments is really handy with everything you could possibly wish for and reasonable prices. If you are going to these apartments i would recommend the discover fueturventura trip and the camel safari. when you get down the the front (u will realise what i mean when u get there) i would also recommend booking with the last minute travel agents, as they were cheaper than the reps and very helpful considering me and my friend got on the wrong bus for a trip, but when we went back to re book he was more than happy to re arrange for another day with out any extra charge. My partner would also reommend the scuba diving excursion. Hotel staff including the maids were very friendly.
I would certainly go back to the cinco plaza apartments, but i will not be in a rush to go back to puerto del carmen.

Myself, my husband and my 21 month old daughter stayed at the apartments for 2 weeks in April and had a fabulous time.

We had a 1 bed apartment overlooking the pool which was spacious and clean. Maid service was 4-5 times per week but if you wanted this more regularly you just had to ask.

The pools were lovely and around the pool areas were cleaned thoroughly every morning. We never struggled for a sun bed but you may in peak season.

The staff were very polite and helpful and spoke very good English.

We never ate in the restaurant as we booked a self catering option but they seemed to do a different theme each evening from seafood, to steak, to oriental etc. and it smelt good!

They had a mini disco each evening from 8pm which my little one enjoyed very much before bed time and then there was entertainment in the restaurant each night but we never stayed for this as we wanted to keep our daughter in her normal bedtime routine.

The apartments are on a bit of a hill but we walked up and down 2-3 times a day with the buggy and found it ok. Elderly or disabled travellers may not want to stay here for this reason.

The only down side I have on the apartments is that the walls are paper thin. I had read reviews saying this before we went and purposely booked a top floor apartment but it made no difference as we had the family from hell below us and you could hear every word they were saying until they finally shut up around 2am, but from speaking to other travellers it would appear that we were just unlucky as they had quiet neighbours and did not experience the same problems!

I must mention a restaurant on the seafront called the Bistro Royal. We ended up eating there most days as our daughter refused to eat anywhere else. The food was excellent, the staff were amazing and could not do enough for us and our daughter (i.e. if something not on the menu they would go out of their way to get it for you or change pizza topping etc). and on the last evening of our holiday they clubbed together to buy our daughter a camel teddy bear and gave us a bottle of wine on the house. I would go back just to see them again! If you are looking for somewhere to eat you must try this place.

Overall, fabulous accommodation, weather, food and could not have been happier.

“Great family holiday”

Cinco Plazas

My husband, daughter and I are just back from a fantastic weeks stay in the Cinco Plazas. We booked last minute but were not disappointed.

We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment which overlooked the pool. The apartment was kept very clean and I was impressed how spacious it was. Clean towels 4 times in the weeks and maid 5. I was very impressed that the maid even cleaned our dishes for us. The rooms have no air conditioning but do have a rather large fan which can be turned up high. We did not feel the need for air con as it was cool at night and even turned the fan off when going to bed. The only down side to the room was that the beds were hard. My husband liked this but I have to say it was like sleeping on a bed on concrete.

The pool area was great. My daughter played in the pool from morning til night. Very clean and even slightly warm!! There were enough sunbeds for a April visit but think it would be a tight squeeze in the peak season. You can hire cushions for the beds at 5euros for a week.

Reception staff very welcoming and friendly.

Great location, just down a short hill to the main strip of Puerto del Carmen.

Would highly reccommend this apartment. We are going back next Easter!
