“cant be beaten for food & cleanliness”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2007

We stayed here for the last 10 days in May and enjoyed the best choice, quality, presentation and cleanliness of food we have had in any holiday hotel before (and we’ve stayed in plenty).
Maybe it’s because it' s German owned and run. Staff welcoming and friendly throughout.
The choice of food at each meal time is unbelievable for meat eaters and vegetarians alike.
The hotel is situated right by a pleasant beach, with several more within walking distance but overall there is very little else around.
Puerto del Carmen is a little tacky but has a nice beach and several good looking restaurants (although we didn’t try them as we had booked all inclusive, well worth the extra money).
Most of our time was spent in the well kept hotel garden, grounds and by the pool (no need for towels at dawn as there were always plenty of beds near or around the pools. The heated pool was lovely for the first 3 or 4 days then we noticed a distinct drop in its temperature (did they turn the heat off?)
The hotel is constantly being cleaned throughout the day to a high standard.
Our bedroom (4031) was fine although the bedding and curtains are a little dated in looks but very clean. We had a lovely view of the gardens, pools and sea.
Don’t be put off by the "Mexican ranch" style looking entrance. It’s like entering a "tardis"
What little we saw of Lanzarote was disappointing. The weather can be very changeable and a little too breezy but it didn’t spoil our holiday. We all came back with good tans. The island is too barren and black for us so we won’t be going back but will certainly look for other hotels run by "the seaside hotel group"

actually pronounced as los hameos j is a h
handy for when you are getting a taxi back in the middle of the night !!
stayed in los jameos playa first 2 weeks of june lovely time
emailed them asking for a sea view and was delighted when our balcony overlooked the beach
plenty of loungers but hotel didnt seem half full

hotel is made up of 6 different low rise buildings all connected on the 2nd floor there are lifts
our roomwas 4011 lovely sea view but a bit of a trek to the pool area so if your not into walkin request a poolside room

thought they were cheeky as you had to pay for rental of tennis court and the rackets i thought becauseyou were stayin it would be free no one even using the court, even mini golf there was a charge

as in past reviews when checking in organise ure pool towel voucher, safe cost us €32 for 2 weeks, mini bar nice as no other fridge facility in room handy for drinks etc

Lovely looking hotel lovely stair way landscaped gardens and kept so clean and the pools are quite large one heated and one cooler pool

Nice back gate that brings you straight to the beach
and taxi and bus stop right outside hotel bus only 1 euro each to any place in peurto del carmen

we were half board so evening meals inc great selection but we did eat out 3 nites
would really recommend casa roja old town situated at the harbour very nice
also was at el tomato beside the shopping centre in the old town very nice and great prices for fine food
we also went to leneghans across the road from the hotel a lovely irish lady runs this place

for lunch we found a nice sambo place just like home The coffee place just beside the netto and spar across the rd lovely english lady serving loads of nice wraps and brown sambos !!!
and for a nearby drink and live music the rose of clare is right across the rd tues and wed i would recommend they have these 3 brilliant girls performing all kind of music christy moore and loads of irish tunes requests etc

other pubs we really enjoyed were in the old town sat nite in craic n ceol

Stayed at this hotel end May and had a great overall stay.

Good Points
Great location – very near the beach and only a few minutes from Purto Del Carmen (3.50 in taxi).
Excellent pool area – always loads of sun loungers and umbrellas. Pool fantastic.
Very clean facilities
Room small but very comfortable and kept really clean.
Staff were excellent to deal with, very friendly and helpful.
We had a few faults in our room, but they were dealt with efficiently and promptly.
You can request bathrobes in your room and these are very useful.

Things to consider:
Upgraded our room to a Type C room – not work the 150 euro as room was exactly the same as A&B, just had a DVD player, tea / coffee making facilities & larger balcony (we did not really get to use any of these.
Nightly entertainment was poor compaired to other hotels we have stayed in in Lanzarote.
Stayed here with my Grandmother and the room was a long distance away from reception – no problem for me, but can be for an elderly person.
Breakfast was good, but not great – I found the selection a little limiting.

Hope this helps!! Good overall stay and would probable stay again.

We stayed here for 1 week at the end of May and had a really enjoyable time. The layout of the pool area is lovely and the room was all we needed (wine in room on arrival was nice touch) with a decent sized balcony.

There was no issue getting a sun lounger at any time of day (hotel was busy enough but probably some distance from full).

We went for the B&B option and the selection available for breakfast was vast, I can't fault anything I had to eat. The themed buffet dinners wouldn't appeal to me but as we didn't go for this option I can't really comment.

The staff were very accommodating and pleasant. There do appear to be some internal communication issues however: I reported that the air conditioning wasn't working when we arrived and was advised that someone was on their way to investigate, this never happened and as the temperature in the room was fine I did not pursue the matter. Also the night before we left we were advised there was a breakfast pack available for departing guests if we would like to book it. We did so but the person on the desk the following morning had never heard of such an option, there was 1 or 2 other things like that.

The hotel is only yards from the beach but is the best part of an hour's walk from the heart of Puerto Del Carmen (only between 3 and 4 euro in a taxi).

All in all we were very happy with the hotel, couple of things to sort immediately on check-in (as opposed to making several calls to reception):
Card for safe
Key for minibar/fridge
Iron/ironing board
Pool towel tokens

BTW: No kettle in room!

I read the reviews before we went and thought, eh it couldn't be all fab.......BUT IT WAS ! The food, the staff, the accommodation, very very relaxing. Just one thing.........do Germans EVER smile ?! There were lots of Germans, French, English and a few Irish, everyone friendly but not one German returned my 'hello' or smile during the whole week ! maybe us Irish are just toooooo friendly. Would recommend this place to couples looking for a romantic relaxing week, and a 5 mins in a tax (cost €3) to go downtown Puerto Del Carmen. Saw other accommodation while we were there and they did not come up to scratch comparied to Los Jameos Playa. We'll be back next year.

Basically I am not going to ramble on for ages as all other reviews on here sum it all up but the whole place is superb, from the dining (and I kid you not, you have never seen food like it, show cooking every night and a choice to die for, and a fantastic breakfast), through to the smiles on all the staffs faces who were all so helpful and the cleanliness of the rooms and the efficient maid service.
If I had to have a niggle(and I am fussy), the entertainment some nights wasnt great but hey, a 20 minute stroll along the seafront after dinner and you are in Peurto Del Carmen, lots of things to do there.
Dont spend ages looking at all other reviews....... just go to Los Jameos.......you will not be disapointed.

We stayed here for 1 week from 16-23 April 2007.to celebrate my husband’s birthday and had an excellent time.

The hotel sent up to our room a bottle of champagne and a birthday card to my husband, which was a very nice surprise and gesture, nice champagne too!!

Now onto our report of Los Jameos Playa.

First and most importantly, FOOD!! The variety of food served is second only to a Cruise Ship in our opinion. The choice is overwhelming. Its 5***** fantastic. Can’t add much more to what has been said already. It is a superbly run hotel. The management have clearly taken on board all guests’ opinions and comments, and implemented them, as we could not find fault with anything! Well actually did manage to find one small thing, the towels in the bathroom are tiny to say the least.

Our room [4005] had a small terrace, was well equipped with loads of storage and a spacious bathroom , with a good selection of complimentary toiletries. Maid service daily and clean bed linen twice a week also. Double bed is, in reality, two single beds pushed together!

There are 2 swimming pools – one is heated, one is not, and a children’s play area and a pool for them also. Loads of sunbeds , but sadly you are forced to join the ranks and put your towel to reserve your favourite spot, best to do this on your way to breakfast.

The evening entertainment started at 8pm with a disco and followed at 9pm by a show, which on the whole were quite good, some better than others!

From our room we had a great view of the planes coming in to land at Arrecife Airport which is about 10-15 minutes away.

It is very quiet around this area and Matagorda which is the next resort up, but we liked it that way. There are a few bars, restaurants and shops near the hotel and plenty more at the Dieland centre near the airport and Bisofera Shopping Mall in the Old Town for more quality shops.

Also if you love bargains and markets, the Sunday market at Teguise is well worth a trip. It’s a large market which weaves in and out of the centre of town, selling mainly clothes, leather shoes (glorious shoes) handbags, linen, jewellery, watches etc. I thought it was excellent! There is also a good choice of bars and cafes when you want to have a rest. It takes about 30-40 minutes and reception will reserve your seat for you, coaches leave at 9.15 am or 10.15 am. A word of advice, do please take a jumper or cardi as it does get VERY windy there and despite it being very hot in the resort, out in the mountains it surely is not!

So to sum up, we highly recommend this hotel, it’s a great place to stay, fabulous food, good weather (albeit a bit windy and cloudy on a couple of days) and staff we dealt with were pleasant and helpful, remember a smile goes a long way!

Can’t wait to go back again sometime very soon.

Enjoy.
