“Fab hotel!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2014

Just got back this Monday (7th April 2014) from a week away with my husband, son and his girlfriend.
it was my second visit as I went last year with a friend from work in the room when we got there was a bottle of cava and a bowl of fresh fruit and a letter welcoming me back - nice touch. it was our first family holiday together in about 10 years - It was as I remembered last year clean, helpful staff, amazing food and generally a fab holiday. The weather was great 20-30 c too hot at times but never mind, the pool was great , lost of visitors at the moment so it did feel busy at times but not rushed at all. Felix at the pool bar was very quick with his waiting skills and very much a hard worker. A great holiday I do hope we come back next year.

Room Tip: La Palma ground floor near the pool nice views of the pool looking towards the clock tower.

The hotel upon arrival has the wow factor - it is stunning. We did not experience any of the smooth check in that others have described with a welcome glass of champagne and inflatable seahorse toy for the children. When we arrived at the hotel after 12pm, we were told that our room was not ready and to come back in 1 hour. When we went back to reception after an hour, we were told it would not be ready for at least another hour, which is not great when you have tired children to keep amused!!

The rooms are spacious and very clean and the gardens are well maintained. The food is the best part of this hotel - the choice is vast as others have said and could not be faulted. The quality of the all-inclusive drinks was also good.

Now for the bad points - the hotel states on its website that it is a family friendly hotel. I would beg to differ. At the start of our holiday, the mini-disco was held in the Berlingo Bar at 8.15pm and was subsequently followed by the adult entertainment at 9.30pm (which was only passable), after which they played disco music. After the adult entertainment was finished, children were told off for dancing on the dance floor and I was approached by a member of the animation team to remove my son (we were not the only parents asked to do this) from the dance floor as they had started to receive complaints from other guests. The children were not doing anything wrong as after all they are only children and should not be expected to sit and not move as they are not adults! The last day of our holiday, the mini-disco was moved to the Salon Lanzarote which was a small room next door to the Berlingo Bar with no explanation as to why this was. The Berlingo Bar had no other entertainment on and the main show did not start till the usual time of 9.30pm, It was then difficult for the families who had attended the mini-disco to get seats to watch the main entertainment which put them at a disadvantage and amounted to segregation! It appears to me that this was done so that the guests without children could come into the Berlingo Bar after having a late dinner and pick the best seats for the evening entertainment. I don't think that this is fair as families pay as much, if not more than the couples etc to come on holiday and therefore, should not be treated as second class citizens.

If adults who complain about children in a family oriented hotel want peace, they should book an adult only hotel to resolve the problem, or retreat to the quiet piano bar located upstairs.

I would be interested to hear the management's response to this as the hotel needs to make up its mind if it is catering for just adults or families or both.

It is purely for this reason that I would be reluctant to visit for a second time or recommend to any of my family or friends...... I note that I'm not the only reviewer to feel this way, so take note management!!!!!

Dear Seaside Los Jameos Playa Guest,

Thank you for posting a review on Tripadvisor.

We appreciate you complimenting the spacious rooms, the clean gardens and the food offer.

However we are truly sorry that you were not happy with the check-in and the Mini-Disco ending at 09.15 p.m.

Please understand that for security reasons we ask our little guests to leave the dance floor when the disco for adults and the shows start. Children might get overseen from guests that are dancing and during shows with acrobats and jugglers we prefer children staying close to their parents.

Normally the mini-disco is held in the Belingo Bar, only at times when there are more small children in our hotel than usual, we use the Salon Lanzarote instead. Since last week our entertainment team offers face painting activities and makes balloon animals for the little ones in this room right before the Mini-Disco starts there. Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused!

Since we constantly follow-up guests' reviews and concerns, please be assured that we will address your comments with the relevant departments and will also check if we can change something for the better.

Once again we wish to thank you for your feedback and hope you reconsider and will stay with us again.

Sincerely,

Beate Sekula

I have just returned from a week at this lovely hotel but left slightly disappointed as the holiday cost £4700 for 4 adults and 1 infant and there was no evening entertainment programme and the bars closed at 11pm prompt! For all inclusive I feel that the 12 hours the bar was open was not good... I was actually refused a diet coke at 10.50am as the bar didn't open until 11am!!! Food was good quality although a little samey but very good. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are lovely and very clean. This hotel is more German than English and all the management is German as we experienced when we had to speak to the hotel director.. That said the other staff there are amazing very professional and very willing x

Dear Los Jameos Playa Guest,

Thank you for choosing Seaside Los Jameos Playa **** and for taking the time to share your feedback on Tripadvisor.

We are glad that you appreciated the quality of food and the rooms in our hotel.
Our team aims to contribute to an enjoyable and memorable guest experience, which is why we are very proud about your nice comment concerning our professional and helpful staff.

Please allow us to rectify that the Belingo Bar closes at midnight and the Piano Bar at one o’clock. Furthermore we do have a daily evening entertainment programme.

During breakfast and when the bars open at 10.30 soft drinks may be ordered from our service-team, however those drinks are not included in the all-inclusive offer, which starts at 11.00 a.m. We can only assume that it was a misunderstanding and that the respective team member did not want to charge you for the drink and therefore asked to wait a few minutes. Please accept our sincere apologies and please rest assured that we will follow-up on your comment!

Once again, thank you for your feedback and we hope to get the opportunity to welcome you back in the near future.

Kind regards,

Beate Sekula

We have just returned , 03/04, from 2 weeks at this delightful hotel. The only problems experienced, strong winds at times and chaotic return departure from Arrecife could not be blamed on the hotel at all . We were very pleased with our family sized room and thought the selection of food was outstanding. As other people have pointed out the dining room does get extremely busy at peak times but does allow plenty of oppourtunity for a favourite holiday occupation ,people watching ! The last 2 years we have stayed in Tenerife on a F/B basis so especially appreciated the all Inclusive at Los Jameos. The entertainment is varied but a highlight of our stay was Sunday nights in the Piano bar with a superb trio playing ,and singing classical music. Wow ,what a voice and not what we expected on a trip like this. The only slight disappointment was the homeward journey with no tour rep on the transfer coach and a lack of guidance at the airport. I did note 10 UK bound flights leaving between 2 and 3 with our Gatwick flight at 2.50 so it is obviously a very busy time. I would have thought it would be a simple process to set up the 2 queues required, to seperate those who have already been allocated boarding passes on-line, with those who need them allocated, which could have saved a lot of confusion. Maybe Thomsons need to review their homeward procedures !!
However a great holiday with very hard working staff at the hotel and I shall miss the lovely beaming smile from the omelette lady.

Room Tip: Ground floor room 1123 away from the main hotel block suited us fine as we had sun in the balcony un...

We are glad to hear that you spent a great holiday despite the windy conditions in Lanzarote at that time, and that your room lived up to your expectations.

It's hard to keep standards high but Los Jameos Playa has done it again. In fact I think the service levels, food and overall event is a good as it has ever been for me. The staff are excellent, and having been a here a couple of times before, often remember you and certainly remember your afternoon drinks choice at the lovely poolside bar. The gardens inside the hotel are beautiful and the somewhat mercurial mini golf course would give the best of players headaches! Hours of fun over the stay now squash and tennis a bit of a struggle these days!! Food is always great but if I did have a 'moan' please stop putting chopped and sliced Green, Red and Yellow Peppers in 'everything' as I'm allergic!!! I can always find a solution but would better without so many Peppers.............

Room Tip: I prefer the 4th floor with a pool, or sea view, or the mountains view on the south side watching th...

We have been to various 4* & 5* hotel through out the Canaries but this is by far our favorite. A quick taxi ride from the airport. Check in was efficient our room wasn't quite ready so headed of to the pool bar for a complimentary drink.
We were in the main Tenerife block with views of the pool and just beyond the sea, the gardens are beautiful and well kept. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean, plenty of storage with tea and coffee making facilities which was a nice touch( this is the first time this has been provided) new furnishings since last year a little more contemporary rather than the floral frills !
We were on AI which was of a very good standard and opted to eat on the outside terrace at meal times which does get busy so left it a little later to eat when it wasn't so rushed the only time I saw anyone waiting for a table was when we had a rather heavy rain shower one night with a cold breeze. Plenty of choice for even the fussiest eater, lots of lovely salads and cakes and desserts to die for !
Pool area is very well kept the ladies that clean the area do a great job and are there at 8am mopping and brushing every morning, we never had a problem finding a bed but you will find people claiming beds with towels at 8am ! which isn't really necessary this time of year.
Staff are all very friendly with a good morning and smiles, would like to mention Sergio the waiter on the terrace who does a great job and David at the pool bar for his efficiency and smiles.
The spa is very nice I had a fantastic facial which very relaxing and good value, we also made use of the steam room and sauna which is free of charge.
Beach towels are free from the pool area with a deposit also bath robes are available from reception again with a deposit. We also made use of the laundry, washing machine and dryer which is a great idea with free detergent etc ( great if you have little ones)
All in all a very relaxing holiday and we hope to return next year. Thank you to all at the Seaside Los Jamios

We have just returned from a 10 day night stay at this hotel.. ( me, my husband and 4.5 year old son). The location of the hotel is brilliant, its a 10 minute transfer from the airport, a 30 min walk into town, opposite a great large uncrowded beach, lots of shops outside ( yes tack shops), but also helpful shops, i.e. a pharmacy and a spar! Could not want a better location.
The age range of people at this hotel was varied from families with young children to couples in their golden years and the hotel seemed to cater for all very well.
The evening entertainment was a mini kids disco at 8.15 - 8.45 and then a main act until 10pm, after that their was some what i call dodgy music,.. i.e. cliff richard era. but as I said the hotel catered for all age ranges!
I cant really comment on the kids club as my son only ventured in once, it is run by the hotel, but as the days went on, more children attended, so cant be that bad.
There is a great kids play area right outside of the kids club and my son loved it, the ground is covered in sand, so even when he fell from the swing (as boys do), he was unhurt.
We had a family room with a garden view, and it was really nice, a big balcony area, good sized accomodation and the maids cleaned it every day.
My one gripe was the restaurant, we were all inclusive and the variation of food was good. My son has a peanut allergy and the restuarant were made aware of this,( my husband had a meeting with guest relations), but everything was covered in peanuts ( even the cheese), they got peanut happy. Now I understand they have to cater for everyones needs, but they placed a bowl of jelly ( which is generally considered childrens food), next to a massive bowl of peanuts every night (and some people do use the same spoon for both!)... Saying this we managed to find food my son could eat,and we always managed to find a table.
The pool areas. the pools were cold, but then we did go when the winds were high and unusual for the time of year. As the week was coming to nearing the end more people arrived and the usual towels appearing on sunbeds very early in the morning started. so if you were hoping for a sunbed from 10am this may seem unlikely.
I also had a treatment in the spa ( a facial). The thing I found unususual from other treatments I have had in spa's. Is usually you have to fill out a form to say whether you may have any health issues or may be allergic to anything they may use. There was nothing here I literally checked in and off they went no questions at all. ( which isnt a problem to me as I am not allergic to anything,) but some people are. I would have thought this would be standard.
The facial was great though!
Overall this is a great hotel and location, would I go back.. Probably

Dear Seaside Los Jameos Playa Guest,

Thank you for having chosen Seaside Los Jameos Playa **** and for taking the time to share your detailed holiday report on Tripadvisor.

We are pleased to hear that your son loved the kids play area and that the entire family appreciated the convenient location of our hotel and the variety of food.

For every dish on our buffet we provide special cutlery. We are sorry that apparently some guests did not use the proper spoon and will look for another place to put the bowl of peanuts.

Only for treatments that require the knowledge about the state of health of the respective guest our Wellness Center asks for this information. However we are already thinking about introducing a special check-list and wish to thank you for your suggestion.

We are glad to learn that you enjoyed your stay with us overall and hope to see again in the near future.

Sincerely,
