We just returned from a lovely two week stay at Plaza Azul, Plaza Azul apts are located on Calle Anzuelo, Puerto Del Carmen, same road as The Spinnaker Restaurant and Bar.
The apts themselves are about a five mins walk uphill from the strip/beach front. On arrival to the apts there are steps down to the main door, we did however see on our final day that there is wheelchair access to the side of building.
Reception staff were very friendly and helpful and check in was very swift. There are again more steps to the back of reception where you have to go to get to your apts, I don't think this complex would be ideal for wheelchair users or those with bad eyesight as there are steps everywhere, however there may be apts closer to reception with easier access that I did not see.
The apts were lovely, I initially thought they were very small but once we opened the curtains and opened the windows, they were not a bad size at all. The apts all surround the pool, some a little closer to it than others.
The apt was equipped with a microwave, kettle, toaster, dishcloth, wine opener and usual crockery and utensils there was also a two ring hob that we never used. There is no hairdryer supplied which would have been very handy as so restricted with weight on Ryanair flights. I do believe that you can hire one though (not that cheap to hire if I remember correctly).
The living room had a large L shaped couch which I was told was very comfortable to sleep on. The bedroom had two single beds pushed together which was perfect for us as mother and daughter. The curtains had black out lining which was perfect for the mornings. The towels were supposed to be changed twice a week but if we left any on the floor they were changed as often as we needed them to. Towels were a bit frayed but they were grand and did the job. Sheets were changed twice during our stay, I did see a hole or two but the sheets were sparkling clean and pure white so I would not have any problem with that.
The pool was huge and not crazy deep, there was also a lovely children's pool, the snack bar beside the pool was very handy for drinks and snacks and the girl working there was very friendly. There was a restaurant and bar at the complex but no one ever really seemed to use them much.
There was free wifi in the reception area which we really appreciated and so did many others as there was many bodies around on their devices as often as we were!
There was a little supermarket across the street which was expensive so we didn't really use except for emergency bread one morning, The hyper dino four/five mins away (turn right at reception, you will see it shortly on your left) underneath The Spinnaker had everything we needed and at reasonable prices too.
My only negatives of this stay were 1, two pigeons flew in like they owned the place every day and as I have a bird phobia they were giving me the heebie jeebies every time they came near and they came near a lot!! swooping low and walking around trying to poke into peoples bags!!! For fellow bird phobes I also saw pigeons swanning into The American Indian and Pinocchio Restaurant/bars.
2. The screws on the ladders of the pool were awfully loose (the two nearest to the pool bar, not sure about the others) and as a non swimmer I thought it to be dangerous, I didn't tell reception as I didn't want to be seen as annoying, but hoping they see this.
I highly recommend Plaza Azul to stay, We will def to back, I just hope the pigeons are moved off to elsewhere by then!!
