“THE ABSOLUTE BEST.........”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

Congratulations to the Management and team of the Cathedral Peak Hotel !!!!
We recently spent 10 days over Christmas and New Year at the hotel and had a splendid holiday.
In our opinion, the location is the best in the Drakensburg, the rooms, service and food was EXCELENT.
What a treat to still find service levels of this standard exisitng in South Africa.

A definate must for any traveller wishing to visit our wonderful Drakensburg.

Room Tip: Executive suite 207 was fantastic

We had 3 wonderful nights in the Drakensburg staying at Cathedral Peak. The surroundings are absolutely magnificent. The Hotel has a tough job to keep up with mother nature on the wow factor! There seems to be a mixture here of old meets new and a little decaying splendour too.
The room we had was average, and a little dated. The restaurant is a self serve buffet style and lacked a little sparkle. The chefs cook good stir fry to order but many of the desserts are like school dinner puddings, garish colours and no flavours. We went on two "guided walks" into the hills, the scenery was stunning and we did see baboons in the mist but the guide was not very communicative and hardly spoke at all, it felt he was scripted and not able to break from the script. Having said that we still enjoyed it at Cathedral Peak.

We went in July and this place is truly amazing. The service is good, the rooms great and you have breathtaking walks right from your doorstep. We stayed three nights and the dinner was changed each evening to provide some variation to the standard buffet. The main reason for our stay was the hiking and it did not disappoint.

But having the luxury of the hotel to return to at the end of a long day made our trip truly memorable.

We have travelled to this hotel at least on 3 different occasions. It is a wonderful family hotel with a luxurious feel to it, and very comfortable. The mountainous surrondings are beautiful with great walks. There is lots for the kids to do. During busier times there are young sitters for the kids that keep them occupied and run a kids programme. The staff are very friendly and the food is excellent and more excellent.

Room Tip: For families the interleading rooms are very spacious and affordable.

Spent 3 nights in an executive room (Honeymoon Suite) and enjoyed an unspoilt view towards Cathedral Peak. Plenty of activities for children and adults, tasty food and professional staff. We keep coming back to this hotel for many years and we were never disappointed.
However... the restaurant's wine list could be more extensive.

We have stayed in Cathedral Peak Hotel several times and were not disappointed on our recent visit. It is in a superb location in the Drakensberg mountains, with stunning views up the mountains and down the valley. It is a great base for walkers, but is also good for families as there is a decent sized pool and many other sports facilities. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the food good, though nothing special. Dinner, breakfast, morning coffee and afternoon tea are included in the room rate, as is free wifi.
