Vilvoorde is not the most attractive city in the world and its culinary landscape was a bit desertlike until recently. In the new development area of the city, along the canal (Brussels-Willebroek) a modern waterside brasserie was just the thing that was missing to make the area more attractive. Then came Canal. The restaurant is large and lofty. The large windows, the light tones in the interior (with a lot of white and light oak) make it a very nice place to be, especially in summer.
The menu offers a rather limited choice yet the special selection of beef cuts looks impressive. For a brasserie the prices are quite high.
The service was quick and professional. The food was OK but nothing special to be honest. I will go back to Canal since it stands out in the Vilvoorde area. But that says as much about the Vilvoorde area as about Canal.
