“good value and friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights on the way to the alps for skiing and also on the way back. The hotel is easy to find and is near to a large centre de commerce'where there are a couple of supermarkets and also a number of other restaurants.
Having driven down from Rotterdam we just went to the supermarket to do some shopping and then eat in the hotel which we found to be very good and reasonably priced.
The staff were all very friendly and the hotel was not busy. Having stayed in a number of ibis hotels it was on very many ways what you would expect but I would definitely rate the staff as among the most friendly and will certainly stay here again.

Room Tip: The room we had was quiet and I think all rooms were similar

We have now used the Ibis Dijon Sud three times for a one-night stopover en route from Calais to Provence. It is less pricey than the Novotel just up the road and better value for a couple, especially if you can live with a pre-paid rate, no changes allowed (€55 mid-week in January 2013, compared to a rack rate of €74). The refurbishment programme is now complete and the decoration, which was looking tired before, is now fresh. The rooms are clean and comfortable. As noted in an earlier review the double beds are now king-size, the floors are easy-clean wood (or wood-effect?) and the en-suites have large showers where there were previously small baths. The air conditioning seems to work well, both cooling and heating, which is not always the case in hotels. The car park is large and well-lit, especially at the front. The staff are welcoming. Our first experience of the restaurant in May 2012 was disappointing but on both subsequent visits the food, while unpretentious, has been well prepared and presented. Five local wines were on offer on the last occasion, including half-bottles for around €15, which isn't out of line with prevailing prices elsewhere. I wouldn't, though, recommend the breakfast at €9. There are plenty of alternatives in the vicinity.

Stayed here with 3 children on a ski stopover to morzine which was 3-4 hours away the next morning if you leave early ie. 7.30am. We had to take 2 rooms as we have 3 kids. Only criticism is that it was a little tricky to find and the website directions were poor - should have google mapped before. Restaurant was good except husbands duck confit was very salty, almost inedible. Otherwise fit for purpose.

The hotel is OK on the south side of Dijon, which is a good location to start your journey in the wine route to the south, The parkingplace is easily accessible and generous and the hotel is such that you live in one night and then go on.

We came from Tuscany Italy and planned to stop in Dijon Sud so we could go back on the road to Calais early the next morning. Hotel is reasonably easy to find and close to the major motorways.
