“Do NOT stay here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2012

Unsafe, wholly unsuitable for women, especially threatening when you have your young daughter with you.

There are what appear to be what I can only consider to be unemployed male (potential illegal immigrants in France / seeking illegal entry to the UK?) living / squatting in the vast majority of rooms, probably aided by the unhelpful 'receptionist'. Stair cases are littered with empty beer and larger cans and crates. Heavy smoking, Dirty underpants propping open doors and occupants (four skin heads on our way to the room) crowding entry to the stair wells.

Once instead our over sized coffin whilst the sheets looked clean the cover was littered with cigarette burns and the toilet flush was broken leaving a huge hole in the wall.

I dare say I could have found more faults but after about 40 minutes of sitting in the room, unable to hear the TV for the mob outside (getting drunker and louder) feeling to be honest very vulnerable - we planned our exit strategy, unlocked the double deadbolts (but you can't knock the security!) and making sure our daughter was in-between we made a hasty exit for the car.

It was the last night of our holiday (14 days touring Europe staying in several hotels) and was booked as some where to stay for a few hours rest before embarking on the DFDS ferry from Dunkirk back to Dover at 6am.

Having left the 'hotel' we spent the next five hours sleeping in our car at the ferry port which was well lit, secure, felt safe, was quiet and was FREE. There are toilets at the port on the Dunkirk side and it is policed and staffed.

So whilst not ideal - if you simply need a SAFE place to stop over on the way to / from the ferry - pull up in the car park and don't bother with this hell hole.

It cost 45 Euro with no breakfast - the previous evening we stayed at the Novotel in BREDA very clean and safe, everyone speaks English, is polite and helpful for a mere 68 Euro which puts it very firmly into context.

Room Tip: Do not stay here.

We booked this for a single night prior to getting an early morning ferry back to the UK and we anticipated being there for 6 hours before the early morning ferry.... we paid 45 Euro for the room, it was on the BACK of the hotel (read this as hostel) on the top floor. The room was clean, the toilet and a light were broken. The door had 2 deadlocks on it - that should have been the clue!

Myself, partner and 10 year old daughter went to the room and left 45mins to move to another hotel. My partner was greet by a drunk in his underpants and it was very clear that other rooms had people living in them, full time. This is certainly NOT a place for children, do not be fooled by the images of the front of the hotel or the 3*** rating (at the time of writing). This made me, a 6' 2" tall, 20 Stone bloke nervous for my family and their safety, it was a horrific experience.

Years ago I stayed in a squat in East Berlin for 6 days (just after the wall came down) and that was a million times better than this.... comparing that to this.. IN OUR OPINION: DO NOT STAY HERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. - we ultimately slept in the car park at the Dunkerque (Dunkirk) ferry terminal and had much more sleep than I anticipate that we would ever have had in this hovel. If it was possible to leave a rating of zero for this: we would!

Arrived 2 am automatic check in - not working had to make a call for someone to come and let us in.Tired and fed up after trying to get in, man arrive and said machine not working - shame they did not let us know earlier. Room dark and not very clean. Raining all night and broken guttering outside out room was so noisy and sounded like it was a running river. Receptionist smelt of cigarette smoke. Breakfast very poor, bread, jam juice and fruit yogurt and coffee. No cereals or plain yogurts, croissants etc.
Difficult to find the hotel on a convoluted route from the motorway.

When we booked in the receptionist wasn't very helpful. She could speak English, but didn't want to. We went to our room - a non - smoking room, it stank of smoke. The lights over the bed didn't work and the room was very dark. The bathroom is so small, only suitable for children. I was unable to get Internet connection. We didn't complain as the reception didn't want to speak English! Then breakfast, so see us on our way to Poland. How wrong can you be. On offer was: 6 pieces of Brioche, 8 Slices of White Sliced Bread, Some sort of Fruit in pots, butter, jam and hot drinks. Not the breakfast we expected and had received in the past at other Premiere Classe Hotels. The man on duty did not speak english and was more interested in talking to his mates, than looking after his guests. I did write in to complain. Received a reply, thanking me for letting them know and they hoped it would not put me off staying with them again. Well it has. I really would not reccoment this Hotel, even as a last resort.

We paid 29 Euro for a room and that is all it is worth. Don’t go there when you are claustrophobic. Theoretically you could have a child with you because it has a bunk too. Don’t attempt to bring too much luggage in either. It’s ok when you arrive late and leave early in the morning. If you spend more time in this box you are likely to step on each other’s toes. Obviously the bathroom is tiny too, definitely not for big people and the shower curtain wraps around your body. The room was very clean, so was the linen.
Don’t bother about the breakfast, 4.80 Euro for croissant, jam and coffee in a plastic surrounding is not worth the money.
We took an early morning ferry and it took only 15 minutes to get to the port.

Like another hotel we tried in the Premiere Classe group this was abyssmal, air conditioning didn't work, shutter didn't work, 'get your keycard automatically' machine didn't work, but charged for it anyway, the receptionist arrived late. The room was ridiculously small and the shower in our touring caravan is bigger than the one here. The TV had been replaced but there were still holes in the ceiling from the previous hanger. The skirting boards were filthy, and I felt the need to wipe the handles on the main door and the shower door with a cloth before touching them, At least the bunk bed above our double bed was a proper bed, not the appalling 'shelf' as in one other establishment in the group, and this room had a wardrobe of sorts (hanging space and a couple of shelves). True, the bed linen was clean, but we had to go downstairs (two flights) because there were no towels. The wiring for the air conditioner was lying unconnected on the floor - that's why it didn't work, the loo flush panel was missing, and the light switch was lose on the wall. The location is convenient for Dunkirk ferry, but that's about the only thing in its favour. The list of awfulness is endless.

Room Tip: There are no good rooms

A glorified caravan! On arrival we were faced with rude hotel staff that barley acknowledged us. The area is convenient however there are lots of other cheap hotels closer to Dunkirk. The room itself is extremely small, it had an old musty smell, hairs in the bed, dirt on the floor and the bathroom was the smallest I’ve ever seen! There was also a giant phallic symbol painted on the car park floor, which says it all!
Do not stay here!
