“Nice hotel with nice environment”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

Beautifully located hotel with both inside and outside swimming pool, bowling, sauna, fitness, midget gold, etc. Rooms are a bit basic and not so fresh, but it is clean and beds are good. Very nice is the own balcony to sit outside during a warm evening. Breakfast is good and prices certainly are reasonable. The area is very nice with lots of outdoor (hiking, biking) and amusement park (Slagharen, Plopsa, Emmen zoo) possibilities. More than enough entertainment for a week!

The location of this hotel is beautiful and the hotel offers so much things to do: fitness, sauna, bowling, swimmingpool, (e-)bikes/scooterrent, etc. Staff is very friendly, willing to help and welcoming. Rooms are big, clean and nicely decorated, but maybe for a 4-star hotel a little poor (no coffeemaker, no bathrobe/slippers for the sauna and the pool and limited-time-free, slow wifi). However, I liked the spacious room and the nice balcony.

There are 2 restaurants: a brasserie for the big eaters (not my cup of tea) and a fine-dining restaurant. We enjoyed a 4-course menu in the restaurant. Every dish was a piece of art, not only on the plate, but also in the mouth. The food and wine combinations didn't create a wow-effect. I am too spoiled, I think. Portions are quite tiny. That is ok for me, but unfortunately staff didn't give me a chance to order some extras (like veggies, a cheeseplatter, extra drinks). All the waiters were very friendly, but they seemed to follow some kind of scenario in which there was no room left for extras. I think the problem in Holland is that (restaurant)Service is not seen as a real profession.

In the hotel we used the outdoor pool, the bowling (balls needed to be cleaned), the fitness (tredmill, hometrainer, rowingmachine, crosstrainer and some strength-training, I believe), which by the way you better don't in summer at 5 pm, when the sun is shining right into the fitnessroom.

We liked our stay very much and we are looking forward to our next trip to Exloo.

I have visited the Hunzenbergen a few times now for both a few weeks and a few days. Every time I visit the staff are friendly and helpful even though I cannot speak Dutch. The hotel facilities are good, even having a bowling alley and a crazy golf course!
Its a nice hotel to visit for a relaxing time and nice food, don't visit if you are looking for nightlife as it is literally in the middle of nowhere!

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the front of the Hotel which have nicer views.

Very nice hotel located in a very nice nature area. There are many nice walking and biking tours that are minutes away from the hotel.
Hotel was nice, luxurious and clean, having spend many nights in fletcher hotels I know that this hotel has towered above that average standard. Room was big, clean, quiet and without any defects. The dinner we had in the hotel was nice. Staff was friendly and helpfull. Facilities are clean and well taken care off. Without a doubt worthy of the 4 star rating in my opinion. And defenatelty a good choice to come back to. Unlike many other Fletcher-group hotels.

First, the good points. We had a suite for 128 Euro, which was absolutely huge and well furnished. We ate dinner in the restaurant and sat on the large terrace, which was very pleasant. The food was light, imaginative and well prepared: definitely not what I expected from a hotel located in a bungalow park. The facilities are good with indoor and outdoor pools, sauna, steam room, plunge pool and two jacuzzis. The location (outside Exloo in the beautiful Drenthe countryside) is also good. It even has its own Hunebedden (a prehistoric megalithic burial chambers) a short walk away.

The only thing which stops it being a true luxury hotel is a lack of a few refinements,. Towels for example have to be taken from the bedroom to the pool/sauna complex. As another example the the sauna doesn't have any scrub salt. The bathroom also didn't have the little luxuries you would find in a really luxury hotel. But at the prices they charged for teh room I really can't compain.
