“Budget Family Friendly Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2013

We stayed for two nights and were really pleased with the hotel. It is an older hotel located down Salter Path away from the hustle and bustle of Atlantic Beach. It was located right below the Aquarium which was one of the main attractions of our trip and right down the road from the putt putt place. If you are looking for a luxury hotel stay this place isn't for you. The overall hotel was clean but slightly musty smelling, but the beds were comfortable, pool & hot tub clean, and the overall atmosphere was family friendly. Bathrooms are small and the mini fridge is too, but it served the purpose. I read the other reviews about bad customer service but we didn't have any issues and our rates never changed from what was quoted. The view was beautiful and the cabana umbrella service was nice, $15 for the first day w/ two chairs. The restaurant was good for a quick bite when we didn't feel like driving into town (about 8 mins.) and they have daily breakfast and lunch specials. On the patio, they sell hot dogs for $1 for a quick bite. They had a dj in the hotel bar Sat. night too. The rates for this hotel were a lot cheaper than other comparable hotels in the area. I would definitely go back.

Room Tip: Higher up the better and if you choose #00 thru #04 you'll be down away from the elevators. It i...

Clamdiggers is right on the beach. All the rooms are ocean front with private balconies. The rooms have refrigerators and microwaves. The rooms are very clean, reasonably priced and there is a nice restaurant downstairs. We always order the special. Wednesday night is our favorite - the seafood combo. The oysters and deviled crab are really good. What more can you ask for?

We Were Looking For A Local Place That Served A Variety Of Food. At This Place, That's All We Enjoyed (Except The Hushpuppies). The Service Was Horrible, It Was Over An Hour Before We Got Our Food. I Have Eaten Better Fish At LJS.
We Won't Be Making This A Family Tradition.

We come every year. For $25 you get umbrella service for two days. It is peaceful and relaxing. You can get drinks and snacks at the pool bar including $1 hot dogs. The restaurant breakfast is great. Best of all is the view from the room and balcony. All rooms are oceanfront and the balconies are private. Cons: small bathroom.

The Clam Digger is a great place to stay if you want to park your car and not have to get in it again for the duration of your stay. I just stayed for the weekend with family and freinds to celebrate by 30th birthday and Mother's Day. The restaurant is great, especially the breakfast, and it is reasonably priced. The rooms are "no frills", but you will be barely spend anytime in them with the beach right outside your door. Amazing views! They have a spotlight that shines on the water at night and the seagulls flock to it for feeding. The bathrooms are small, so if you are larger like my husband, it can be a bit uncomfortable. The staff can be a bit rigid when it comes to certain rules and regulations, but its nothing that ruined our trip. Its only a 10-15 minute cab ride into Morhead where there are plenty of great restaurants and bars. The jacuzzi is huge, and about 15 of us fit in it comfortably with room to spare. The only part that we were not fond of was the Bar/Lounce. The bartenders were rude and the service was not very good. The "DJ" was pretty terrible as well. I definitelyr recommend heading out of the hotel for night time entertainment. Over all I would definitely return!

Room Tip: Request a room on the 7th floor for the best view. Bring your own pillows if you like big fluffy on...

After a long journey it was just lovely to arrive at a very reasonably priced hotel that is smack on the beach. The room is spacious and very clean. We has our own balcony and was able to leave the door open and listen to the crashing waves of a night time.

Room Tip: There are no restuarants that are in walking distance but hotel has a lovely restuarant if u don'...

This is truly a beautiful spot. Right on the ocean, nothing but beach to walk on. Great views at night of moon and sunrise. Restaurant was very good. Rooms were adequate in size and amenities (coffee maker, mini fridge). Slider opens up to a patio overlooking the beach. Hot tub was nice, however the pool was very cold. Bathrooms are a little on the small side. One down side is they have many rules, signs. They also have beach chairs and umbrellas but for a fee. Seems to me they could through them is as the room prices are not cheap. The only major problem we ran into was the after driving 13 hrs we checked in and forgot to show our AARP card. We were charged the non- discounted rate. When we realized the error we went down and asked for an adjustment and was told no adjustments after check in...So in spite of the beautiful spot and rooms, they have rules that do not bend..

Room Tip: All rooms are ocean front, so there is no bad room. Don't forget your discount card at check-in...
