“Definitely Going Back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2012

I just got back from spending Thanksgiving weekend at the Clam Digger and I am already planning my return visit! My father-in-law gathered us all there to celebrate his birthday and we were more than pleased with the accommodations! Every room has an ocean view, the rooms were spacious and clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, the restaurant was great, and waking up to the sound of the waves crashing on the beach was amazing!

You can't beat the rates at The Clamdigger. Very basic amenities, but very clean and relaxing indeed. The restaurant has good food and reasonable prices if you don't feel like traveling somewhere else to eat breakfast, lunch or dinner. They also have room service for a small fee if you don't feel like leaving your room. This is my second time visiting the Clamdigger Inn. I recommend taking advantage of one the off season packages which includes some meals with them. If you visit weekday off season rates are very low.

Room Tip: I'd ask for a top floor room for a better view of the island and the ocean.

We stayed at the Clam Digger last weekend for a conference. We had heard that the hotel was older, but nice so our expectations were moderate. We were very pleasantly surprised at how nice the hotel is. The rooms are all ocean front and this is a very nice plus. The hotel was very clean. The hotel common areas were also very nice. The room featured a microwave and fridge plus a flat screen TV. The bathroom was smaller, but very clean. The shower was one of the better ones for a hotel. The bed was a little harder than we like, but definitely OK. Because of our conference, we ate in the restaurant area 5 times over the weekend. All of the food was great. From breakfast to lunch to dinner, we were impressed with all of the food and the quality. The seafood Saturday night was very good. Usually you don't expect seafood to be good at the beach, but it was definitely good. The staff was very helpful. We will definitely be back to stay here again. We have actually told a few people about this place and recommended it.

Room Tip: Rooms on the higher floor will give you a better view of the ocean.

The employees have horrible attitudes. Filthy, flies in October? Worse waitress I have ever seen in the restaurant. You might get one coffee refill before the waitress vanishes in the back to bad mouth customers:( she should be a little quiter).

All the rooms are not only directly on the ocean but they are spacious and come equipped with microwave, refrigerator and coffee pot with coffee supplied. This is such a desirable hotel with
its always fair prices, all year. While they do have a restaurant we always stop at Food Lion on the way and seldom have to leave our room, our neat balcony and huge beach. The lights of the hotel at night attract thousands of birds, feeding just offshore, and some odd raccoons out for a stroll.
They have a sparkling pool as well and an outdoor snack bar during the season.

Room Tip: Every room is excellent but a higher floor will lesson the sound of ocean waves breaking.
