“A lovely lunch with the typical Umbrian flavors”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2012

My wife and I went to this restaurant as we were walking along the lovely streets of Citta Della Pieve on a cold Sunday in January. We decided on this place since a couple coming out of the restaurant stated that they had just had a lovely meal.
The ambiance of the place is nothing spectacular since it is a modern decor but without the finesse, a bit bland and boring.
Yet, this is the only negative thing I can say about this place, since the waiters were extremely courteous and the food was very typical and regional.
We ate some homemade pasta called Pici with ragu, stuffed pigeon (very flavorful), boar cacciatora and piglet in wine sauce. To top it off, we were also treated by the owner to some nice Carnival fried pastry with honey.
Overall a very good experience that I would suggest to anyone.
Well, back on the road and good eating.

“Over lit & under performing - don't be fooled by its enticing exterior”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2011

Dinner. Just a few other customers. Welcome perfunctory and charmless. An overlit, top-heavy (and now dated) modern interior that destroyed any sense of occasion thus, no ambiance. Unworthy of the Euro 2.00 p.p. 'coperti' (cover charge). A somewhat tired menu. Our drearily drab starting courses were indicative of what was to come. My wife's paper-thin slice of veal with a gloopy lemon sauce was below tepid and after one mouthful, it was shoved to one side. The menu's description of my roast pork was, come the plate, misleading. This too came out paper-thin, with a gloopy 'gravy', and also below tepid. You know what? Sometimes one does not have the energy, nor the interest, in bringing these sorts of acute miscomings to the attention of the restaurateur: this was one of those occasions. We just wanted a dignified and rapid 'out'. Euros 49.00, incl. a bottle of rather ordinary wine and we were, indeed, out of there. (In total contrast, Citta della Pieve is not without some really GOOD restaurants - I'll example two separately).

“Fantastic authentic Umbrian cuisine!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2011

We went to Trattoria da Bruno on recommendation of other friends who had been there and weren't disappointed! It's a friendly family affair patrnosied mostly by locals, and for good reason. The pappardelle al cinghiale (wild boar pasta) was phenomenal, the red house wine great and super home made desserts. Prices were very reasonable and having travelled to other areas of Italy good value for money. If you want the real Umbria in a lovely unspoilt town with local flavour then you can't go wrong!

“Good Lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2011

Ate here in Oct. 2009, on the advice of my Hotel Vannucci desk clerk. She was not wrong. I was well fed after a busy morning/train/taxi from Florence. I got the impression it was primarily a favorite of the locals.
