“Foodies must eat here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

Best meal at the best price in a while! We decided to go out on Easter Monday and we wanted to go somewhere new, outside of Tuscany so we trekked over to Umbria and visited Citta' della Pieve. We checked trip advisor before going so that we would know where to eat and we found a zillion excellent reviews for the Bistrot so we said, 'go for it!'.
No disappointment here! Even though serving staff had taken a day off, Christian and Federico ran the day flawlessly telling about the dishes on the day's menu like they were telling a fairy tale and we were in wonderland when food arrived. The most elevating was my starter: a fried egg yoke which was lightly breaded, an eggwhite and herb mini-omolette, a petit cabbage terrine. Heavenly. Federico recommended a local Gamay which fit our entire meal perfectly.
Reservations are a must, there are only 5 small tables inside, but as soon as the weather moves to spring they open up an abundant area outside overlooking the medieval city stretching towards Chiusi.

“Memorable Experience in Every Way”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

We rented a villa in the charming town of Citta with 12 people to celebrate a special birthday. We wanted to host a celebratory dinner and through the villa owner and reviews on Trip Advisor we found the Bistrot. Christian, the chef and owner, exceeded our expectations. We emailed beforehand about the menu and wines and he was very accommodating to our requests for a multi- course meal to fit our tastes. When we asked for the wine list, he suggested we serve the local wines he offers. The evening began with Christian in his elegant Chet's hat explaining the many courses and wine to our group. He's the perfect mix of professional chef and welcoming host. The restaurant is small and intimate - our party of 12 and 3 other tables filled it up. The food was exceptional - local, fresh, and excellently prepared. His lovely and gracious wife was our server. The wines were paired beautifully and were delicious. And, to cap the evening off, he allowed our guitar playing friend the use of his guitar and we had a singing and playing fest. We will always remember this evening - it was one of the highlights of our trip.

“wonderful Italian experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012

every dish was lovingly prepared by a Chef who came into the tiny restaurant to personally go through the menu (in very good English) before you made your choice. You could tell he had a passion about food and it tasted like it.
