“Quiet, relaxing place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

Maybe I'm easy to please, but this place had clean bungalows, a nice common area with hammocks and other cushions to hangout right on the water in a treehouse sort of setting, great food, friendly staff, hot water and flushing toilets... I don't know what else one needs. I loved the Massaman Curry.

My friend and I stayed in bungalow/room 7, which is connected to and shares a bathroom with 6. The bed was comfortable and the mosquito net and fan were perfectly adequate for a good night's sleep.

If you just come to relax I think you'll be happy.

We recently stayed at Sabai Corner for 5 days. Our bungalow was a luxury seafront bungalow at 1,8000 bhat per night which is a bit expensive. We enjoyed our stay there as it was quiet and very rustic and the food was good though there is some stuff which we found expensive. The owner is Italian and they advertise that they have good coffee but we were not impressed. The local Thai staffs are not friendly except for the German lady who was very helpful.
One day we decided to book a private kayak boat trip from the Sabai Corner which at 7,000 bhat for two which was a disappointment and overrated. When we were in the middle of the sea, our tour guide told us that his girlfriend and her friend were joining us.. so in effect we paid for them to come along too! He spent his entire day with them and we did not see or do as much as was advertised (especially when we said to the Sabai Corner that we did not want to join a group! which would have been cheaper). I wish now that we had booked a boat trip elsewhere.

Both visits as part of Amazing Bike Tours package. Food - authentic Thai, superb, abundant. Alcohol available. Great setting, right on the beach, with hammock and kayak available for hire as well after your meal. Spotlessly clean and they have signs up that show that they are proud of the cleanliness of their establishment. The toilet is also clean.
Would we go again independently if it wasnt part of a package? Yes, most definitely.

We first stayed in room number 2 for 800 baht a night, which was in our opinions overpriced. Private bungalow, tree house, with downstairs attached bathroom. Quite rustic but pur mosquito net was good except there were ants on our net that kept getting into the bed and biting us at night, o well. There was a rat that ate through my backpack, because I was stupid to keep some trail mix in my backpack- well that bugger found it! O well.

We moved to room number 5 after two nights because it was cheaper (450 baht) and was still a private bungalow. This bathroom had a door and one of the no fluh toilettes, worked well though! There was an ant superhighway going around the edges of our balcony and inside our room, but as lin as you dont leave any food out it is allgood. They wont bother you.

The food is amazing at the restaurant( green curry is superb), good free wifi( just ask them to turn it on the morning), laundry service, and the owner Lela is very helpful as she has lived here for over 20 years. We highly recommend this place. It was low key, great food, good atmosphere, and good location to explore the island. They will also arrange tours for you at a good price.

We stayed at Sabai Corner for 3 days. Our bungalow was a double-room cottage, with queen beds in both rooms. The bungalows are great, close to the water on a forested hill. They are very basic, without warm showers. We were quoted 1200THB a night for 3 people.

Whereas the bungalows were great and gave us some of a Robinson Crusoe feeling, the staff made us feel like we were bothering them with anything we were asking. They seemed extremely uninterested and did not seem to enjoy the presence of guests at the common area.

Considering the prices for food and other services, this was very dissappointing to us. We have gotten used to the politeness and kindness of the Thai people, but the staff at Sabai was a major exception (whereas everywhere else on the island, people are extremely kind).

As said, the prices are somewhat steep, with 45 THB for a cup of coffee or tea, and 100 for a pancake with nutella. Also for renting a motorbike (highly recommended) they charged 100 more than a place (called Koh Yao Island Tours or something), just 5 minutes away by foot. If this would be charged in combination with good service and a friendly smile, we woulndt be bothered. However, we felt like we were annoying them with our requests.

In conclusion we can say it was a good place to stay, just considering the accomodation However, our experiences with the staff made the stay a lot less enjoyable. If you are going to Koh Yao Noi, consider going to another place, like Sabai Cottages (we had dinner and breakfast here) which has a great view as well and has much nicer staff.

A last tip: do check out the boat trips organised by Alex's boat service (along the road from Sabai beach to the village). It's good and cheaper than the offers made by Sabai Corner. Alex is mentioned on the Ko Yao Noi Map.

We stayed on Yao Noi in low season at Six Senses Yao Noi. As a change of scenery decided to venture out the resort for a meal. Came across this little place on a corner overlooking the bay. Had home made bread with mozzarella and tomato to start then spaghetti bolognese, was delicious!!! Would recommend for a cheap spot of dinner :). Paid £10 for both my partner and I including drinks!

We stayed here for 4 nights, the bungalows are built going up the hill away from the sea. They are simple, and many you have to go outside to get to the bathroom, but for me that is part of the charm. Ours had a nice veranda with a few chairs and a hammock. The beach is a short walk away, but was inhabited by many crabs and at low tide exposed muddy rocks rather than white sands. While we were there the weather was bad, and so we spent the majority of time in the sheltered hammocks reading. Generally I think it lacks a draw card, there is nothing really special and there is nothing you must see if you go.
