We Really enjoyed our stay, staff were very friendly & helpful, great sitting on the beach chilling, the waiters soon worked out my drinking speed and were almost spot on in asking if I needed a refill. Unfortunately we had a long Safari first 10 days so only had a chance for four days here so probably did not get to try out everything

Don't believe what you read in the press and UK media. I am here right now and it is perfectly safe. Watamu is still a little corner of paradise to me so if you intended to come to Turtle Bay. Please do so you will not be disappointed. Don't use a travel agent just book direct with the hotel and fly Kenya Airways, it is just fantastic.

Room tip: All toms are good

Excellent welcome staff, quite clean environment ideal for relaxation, choice of clean different rooms for accommodation, amiable restaurant and room service staff. However, although the hotel design is for relaxation and therefore did not make provision for TV in the rooms, now in this 21century we are, even when holidaying, in need of knowing what's happening in the world around us, in other words, we're more information-conscious now than any other time, and it would be wonderful to consider providing TV in all rooms fully subscribed to all channels.

Room tip: The ocean front rooms give you a wonderful view of the ocean, plus the lullaby crashing-and-breaking waves of the ocean all night!

We have just stayed at Turtle Bay for the second time and can not recommend it enough. Rooms are simply and very clean. The staff can not do enough for you - always polite and respectful. Ignore what the British Government say as nothing has changed in Kenya. This is still a fantastic and safe country to visit.
The hotel is one of a very few that have a private beach area, fantastic views and staff who really want to help.

We stayed at Turtle Bay in August with our daughter and two small grandchildren aged 2 and 4. Many people at home were worried about security in Kenya but we have been there many times and knew that Watamu would be safe. It was perfect in every way. Turtle Bay is very well managed with delightful and helpful staff in every department. We had two interconnecting rooms with plenty of space, clean and airy. The food was excellent, freshly cooked, often before our eyes, with enough choice and plenty of delicious Kenyan fresh fruit, served in the dining room next to the pool. The hotel had somehow eliminated all signs of mosquitos, in the rooms, by the pool and throughout the complex, even by the pond near reception. The children settled in quickly and were very happy there, soon getting to know the staff and making small friends round the pool. There is a completely separate adults pool for those who want peace and quiet or a 'proper' swim. The grounds are beautiful and well looked after - even the gardeners couldn't have been more friendly - and the same is true of the many security men who presence was discreet but reassuring. As we were there at spring tide, we spent many happy hours exploring the reef with the lovely men from the beach. They found so many creatures which we would never have found for ourselves and were just lovely with the children, holding octopuses for them, helping them to feed the moray eels on sausages and showing us so much else besides, large and small, all for a few 100 Kenya shillings. At high tide the swimming is not for small children but the many teenagers and adults had a great time.
For us this week was the ideal start to a month in Kenya.

Room tip: wifi is free in the reception area. The choice of room depends on whether you wish to be near the pool or beach or whether you prefer quiet as we did.
