We stopped in Loire Valley for two nights on our way fro Paris to Bordeaux. One day we spent with Loire Valley Day Tours. We visited Chateau Royal de Blois, Chateau de Cheverny and Chateau de Chambord. The tour also included a wine tasting stop an lunch.
I will start with lunch, while it was not the main purpose of the trip it was surprisingly good nonetheless. We stopped at a small restaurant. Food was simple but very very good. If we visited the same restaurant by ourselves we would never know to order the dishes that were served. Besides main dish the menu included several kinds of local cheeses and the place where we had wine tasting sent a few bottles of wine for us to have with meal. Overall it was a great touch for the overall mood of the trip.
Now to the main purpose of the trip: We were picked up from center of Tours city in a 9 seat van. Our guide was a young lady who grew up in the area, so she knew a lot about each place and seemed passionate about the history of each chateau. I can't say which chateau was my favorite, I can say each of them is unique and great in its own way. So, the only complaint that I might have is that we didn't allow enough time to stay in Loire Valley and go on several tours like that to see more.
At the end of the tour we were dropped at the same place where we were picked up, however, our guide did offer an option of dropping us at our hotel, but our car was parked in the center of Tours.
All in all, if someone asked me: "Which chateau to see if I don't have enough time to see many?" I would reply: "Find more time and see them all!!"
