We used to tease our Lindsay friends about their restaurant choices -- apparently there are 5 Tim Horton's in this small Kawartha town. But now they can fight back by reminding us of the lovely evening we just had at Pane Vino. The ambiance here is really nice, it's bistro style with red painted walls and big art. The owner seems very involved - he personally visited our table several times on the Saturday night we were there, recommended wine, and wanted to know how everything was. A real highlight was the meatball appetizer, with fresh herbs and fennel - delish! The pasta mains were all very tasty and nicely presented, our highlight here was the spiced lamb sauce in the dinner special. Dessert of note was a yummy sticky toffee pudding - it was not exactly right according to Scottish tradition, but very tasty! This little place would do just fine in the big city, and hopefully it will thrive in Lindsay because I would really like to go back again during our next visit!
