“Slightly more goods than bads!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013

The goods:
Location: Excellent location right over by the Genting theme parks (though Genting is a small interconnected place and no hotel is too far from life)
Views: The view from my 18th floor room looked out to some very scenic and beautiful hills and you are imersed in clouds by 4pm-ish.

The bads:
Check-in time: There are tons of people checking in all the time and it takes a good 2 to 3 hours to get a room and check-in even if you have it pre-booked.

The OKs:
Breakfast: For the tons of guests, they have several huge breakfast rooms serving decent breakfast. The good part is that inspite of the huge guests number, there are never long queues
The room: The room was ok and clean with all the basic facilities and you don't expect much to be there. You shouldn't be spending too much time in there. The locker wasn't working and never bothered asking for a repair/replacement job.

Would i stay here again. yes i would!

Stayed in this hotel for a short getaway. Stayed in the standard room, which is extremely small, just like a chicken coup. The WC is extremely tiny. Once you enter it, you can only squat on the toilet bowl, and can't move at all. The bathroom is just as tiny, when you can only do a 360 degrees turn, whilst standing on the same spot. The view from my room, was another row of guests' rooms!! What a fantastic view!!

Amenities are far from basic!! They only provide you with 2 bar soaps, a shower cap and a conditioning shampoo. So, bring your own toothbrushes and toothpastes. In room tea making facility? That's only fantasy!! They don't provide any complimentary tea or coffee, but only a plastic jug with 2 plastic cups. Take your time to walk out of your rooms, to fill up the jug with hot water from the hot water dispenser, which is incredibly far from your rooms.

To go around, first, you have to again walk long ways, just to get to the lift lobby. Hotel staff are not really as friendly as how they should be, and the hotel lobby is very busy and is very messy!! And most certainly, am not recommending this hotel to my contacts and obviously will not be returning to this hotel!!

This hotel may appeal to those travellers who are used to the Budget Hotel concept ( no frills). So do not expect any luxury at this self help Hotel.
The standard rooms are very small- good enough to fit a queen size bed.
No amenities provided ; other than Fixed bathroom liquid soap dispenser,Towels and tea coffee maker with sachets.
The hotel does not have air conditioning. However no reason to complain; since the weather is quite chill.
However you need to keep the window open, which causes cigarette smoke from other rooms to enter your room in case you get an inward facing room
So those of you expecting a typical hotel service; be cautioned.
However value for money , as it is the closest hotel to the park. You have the flexibility to hop into your room thru the elevator anytime from the park. So resttime in between theme rides is very easy.
Food options at the first world cafe is value for money with adequate options. Other outlets within the entire park are quite expensive.
For Indians Travelling- First world cafe is the only choice for you in case you are a vegetarian and expect typical Indian food.

Check-in and check-out is fairly simple and well organized.

In case you are travelling via cable car, inform the front desk in advance to handle your baggage formalities.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the top floor overlooking the valley. There are rooms that face inwards to other ro...

This was the worst ever experience I had in my life. The size of room is so small that You can't move comfortably any where in room. The old age portable size TV in the room, reminded me of some low category guest houses.

Room Tip: Look for rooms which are facing outdoor theme park. If You don't get one then God bless You!!

This is a very basic hotel catered for the mass, so do not expect luxury. The deluxe room given to us was clean and new, but extremely small. Credit given for trying to equip the room as much as possible as the room came with a kettle (with coffee/tea making facilities), a mini-fridge (empty, of course), an in-room safe and a small small boxy TV. The room is only for you to rest, freshen up and sleep. No space to walk around, so definitely a disadvantage for young families. No views out of most of the rooms even though you may be given a higher floor. However, I noticed some rooms are bigger and more well appointed, so I guess these are the more expensive ones within the hotel.
Check-in and check-out was a breeze if you use the kiosks.

Room : big spacious but it shows that its old already, bathroom is small , no wifi
Staff: i cant say anything since the hotel is too big hardly to talk to staff
Location : Accessible to indoor and outdoor theme park , connected to mall
Food : buffet breakfast is so-so nothing spectacular with the food
Overall : I'll stay again here since this is the most convenient hotel around tho nothing special

My family & I always stay at First World Hotel whenever we go to Genting Highlands, simply because its room rates are lower compared to the other hotels. My sister & I stayed at the Standard Room. While the room was clean upon our arrival, I got to admit that the toilet is very small. We got a new TV, which is mounted on the wall. Too bad there's no remote control, so we had to manually change channels.

The Standard Room is very basic, but it didn't bother me too much. The point of going to Genting Highlands is to go out and enjoy the theme parks, casinos, etc. The room is merely a place to sleep. My main dissatisfaction? The walls aren't sound-proof as I can hear the people next to our room talking, and also people walking along the corridor outside our room.

Room Tip: If you can afford to pay more, opt for the Superior Deluxe room. It's spacious, plus it has amen...
