“Great for the price!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2012

Have stayed at Resort Hotel Genting Highlands previously but much preferred First World Hotel after staying here. Mainly because of the location. It's quite a long walk from the bus station and the themepark to the other hotels, whereas the First World hotel lobby is just directly below the themeparks.
We went on a special package 2 nights for the price of 1 because I think the hotel was undergoing refurbishment at the time. However, saw a board in Genting listing all the prices of the various hotels in the area and felt that even without the deal that we got, First World Hotel was really very very reasonable compared to the rest.
Check-in took a while (approx 30 min waiting for our number to be called), because we weren't world club members and couldn't use the check-in kiosks. Check out was fast though, you can just slip your card into the check-out kiosk machines.
service was good. We requested for a renovated room and late check-out, both were granted. Deposited our luggage at the baggage counter for 2 hours until our bus home with no problems whatsoever
Room was clean and adequate. They have 2-in-1 shampoo and body soap so either bring your own if you're not used to that, or you can just buy from the watsons store downstairs. Kettle and coffee cups with coffee/tea provided. There are no wardrobes just an open rail above the luggage rack to hang your clothes. Our room had no view, looking out into an alley and directly into the room opposite us so we had the curtains closed all the time. But didn't have an issue with this since we spent most of our time outside, and you get great views at the lift lobby anyway.
They also had a hot and cold water dispenser at our floor. We didn't even bother boiling water, just got water from the dispenser when we needed it, and replenished our water bottles on the way out.
Had a great time at the themeparks and it was always nice retreating back to our rooms for a rest after a tiring day out. No complaints whatsoever, great value for money!

Stay At Tower 2 level 2.
The room are small.

Been to Genting yearly but this is the first time stay at smoking room at Tower 2. It is much more smaller than the usual room which I had at at the non-smoking room at Tower 1.

Request for connecting room and non-smoking room indicate at our hotel invoice while booking.
After waiting for 2 hrs (12.30 - 2.30pm) for check in , hotel claim no more connecting room and non-smoking room. Hence has took 2 separate smoking room.

First World Hotel only has 3 level is non-smoking.

The title says it all -

1) 3 hours wait for checkin
2) Problem in checkin as apparently you need a confirmed voucher an email or their system agreeing your booking does not suffice.
3) The rooms finish as you enter
4) The rooms are below par in all accounts.
5) We got rooms on the first floor which overlooked some repair area.
6) The staff were rude and not cooperative at all.

The only good thing was the location i guess.

the First World Hotel was very nice, you can only come down and walk a bit further from the lobby to enjoy those Theme Parks (indoor and outdoor) A very great huge lobby! We love the climate there which makes the room nicer (fortunately) Only bad comment from us is the Breakfast, it was really not okay. A (too) crowded people with a non-arranged breakfast line, the uncleaned egg station.. all of those made everything looks dirty! (I really don't appreciate the way they queue up those Vegetarian People while we were eating, it looks like we were priority and they were a kind of refugee.) Thank you.

The hotel is very big with lots of rooms with a good price tag.
You should take the suites which have amaizing views & good space, I had opted for a deluxe room which i found to be small, had to upgrade to a suite which was worrth it, Preferabbly take rooms ib 24 + floors for a good veiw,
The theme park is great, but plan the wet & dry rides so that that you can take them all.
Avoid genting on sunday as there is a huge crowd which increases the wait time for the rides.

Nice place

Room Tip: You should take the suites which have amaizing views & good space, I had opted for a deluxe room...

This hotel sits on the Genting Highlands, and right beside the hotel is the indoor amusement park and a number of eatries and cinemas. The major Genting bus interchange is located at the lobby. The hotel is a 5 mins walk to the outdoor amusement park and the casino which are Genting's must-go attractions.

The rooms are average, and service is just right, not great.
