“Great attraction for young and old”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

We took our kids 14 and 11 to the caves. We had an awesome guide that made the tour excellent. It is well worth the price and very interesting story of how the caves were discovered and prepared for exhibit. Might want to wear shoes that you don't mind getting wet. Not really wet when we went, but would have been good to have something a little more waterproof. Fun time!

“Enjoyable day out with kids”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2012

The caverns were carved by the river, so they aren't the same as some other caverns I've been to in my life (like the Luray Caverns in Virginia), but this was an enjoyable trip outing and a drive through some nice country to get there. Be warned, the signs are huge at the location so if you get to the bridge over the river, you've just gone by the location (it's on the left just before the river).

The caves are well lit and the floor is all done in wood so there's no worry about uneven ground to walk on. Some of the passageways are quite narrow and low-ceilings, but those are optional. Even for people over 6 feet tall, there aren't worries about banging your head except on the stairs down into the caves. Our guide was young but knowledgeable, and made the tour fun for both adults and children of all ages. It was a blisteringly hot day (34C) when we went, but the temperature down in the caves was about 17C.

There is a picnic area beside the parking lot with tables and a shade area, recycling and composting bins, and a small souvenir / snack shop.

Take a sweater if you are prone to feeling cold in a cool and humid atmosphere.

“Very Interesting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2012

We went as a summer stay-cation outing. Two parents and 5 children ages 7-14. The caves were fascinating, the guide was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor, and the surrounding area was stunning. Great day.

“Great family outing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2012

We had just lost out dog so everyone was quite upset so my mother had decided that we needed to do something to keep our minds occupied. We went here and we all had a great day. We spent the entire day there. We packed a picnic lunch and everything. It was a wonderful day for the family, exactly what we needed.
