The bed and breakfast di Alfio Tomaselli is by fare and away the best place I have stayed at within Nicolosi (6 trips now). The rooms are comfortable with firm beds and ample bedding for the cooler winter nights, although the rooms are well heated and double glazed. There is lots of helpful information in the way of pamphlets, maps etc. and the proprietor of the house is always willing to help find out specific information such as current weather conditions on Etna, for you. However, what sets this B&B apart from others is the quality of the breakfast experience that is very homely with plenty of lovely food, fresh coffer, hot chocolate, freshly squeezed blood orange juice, mozzarella and salami, bread etc etc. there is even bottles of mineral water available at no extra cost it would seem; as we used half a dozen during the three days we stayed and were not allowed to pay for them. Even the end was nice with a warm double kiss as part of a farewell that has left a lasting present impression and a keenness to stay with them again soon.
a very nice bed and breakfast. We had a four beds room, very clean and nice. Mrs Tomaseli gives a huge delicious breakfast (included in the price) and it's possible to cook in the kitchen . All that for 80 euros one night. A very good adress indeed.
We had booked to stay at La Giara B&B through venere.com but when we arrived the owner had been over-booked. She was fantastic and had arranged for us to stay at Alfio Tomaselli's. She drove us over and translated for us to the owner who spoke little English. The language barrier was not a problem at all and the owner is extremely friendly and helpful - she even ironed a fellow guests shirt for him! The room was pleasant with an above average bathroom, good shower and hairdryer. It is in a good location with a ten minute stroll taking you into the middle of Nicolosi where there is a good choice of restaurants. The breakfast we had here was without any shadow of a doubt the best we had in the whole of Sicily - straight out of the oven croissants and pastries served alongside coffee, fruit juices etc. Even though we only stayed one night we really enjoyed this place which was a great base for our Etna daytrip.
