We visited earlier this week. We were very impressed with Mimo and his wife's hospitality. They provided an excellent service for the B&B part but were always available for advice and helped us shape our itineraries. Their trip around Nicolosi, visiting cheese farm, honey farm, olive oil production site, wine tasting, pastry manufacturer in one morning was a great experience to savour the varied taste and flavour of Sicily. It was a shame that the Museum of Volcanolgy was shut for renovation. We will certainly visit Nicolosi again and would like to stay again here. Just one word of caution, access to a car is essential if you are staying here.

We were guided to an interior room dug in the hillside. There was no natural light, only a narrow horizontal window, near the ceiling of the room (you had a long pole to use the window), that opened to a vertical shaft, where external air-condition unit was located. In case of a fire in the corridor outside the room, we would be trapped like mice!
There was an acute smell of mildew in the room, especially when the a/c unit was on. However, since it was spring, it was rather cold and you had to use the a/c unit to raise the temperature in the room, but in this case, the smell was getting worst, you had to open the window to get some fresh air and in return, you got both the cold air and the noise from the external a/c unit. Areas of the main room had not been cleaned, and spiderweb was evident in some places. Several stains were on the walls.
The bed coverlet was adorned with several stains, probably of blood. The pillows were awful.
The TV decoder and the TV set plugs were mixed up in such an intricate way, that compined to the unknown and half-broken controls, required 10-15 minutes to sort out.
Also, in the room, there was a rickety aluminum desk chair. There was no refrigerator.
Mildew smell and fungus spots decorated the bathroom wall (over the shower).
The bathroom mirror light was out of work. The water-closet (in the toilet) had a leak.
And you got all these for only €55,00 per night (Ha, ha).

Stayed for one night in Sept to visit Etna. Would have loved to stay a second night to get the full benefit. Location is great in terms of views but you definitely need a car. Loved the huts and spotlessly clean but agree with previous reviews on the owner's hospitality being outstanding - I had lost my glasses and he went out if his way when we left to go back into town to look for them which I really appreciated. He also was fantastic for recommendations on and assistance with visiting Etna and Nicolisi restaurants. Thanks for the help and pint on us next time you're in Dublin!!!

We were fortunate enough to stay at Etna Hut recently on our visit to Sicily. It serves as a very useful springboard to exploring Mount Etna and the surrounding villages, and - crucially - avoids the horrific driving and parking issues in Catania. The site is part way up to the road to Etna so it's very easy to continue on and explore, and it enjoys pleasant views of the surrounding region and the summit of the mountain.

It consists of a series of chalet type cabins and some rooms integrated into a larger alpine-type building. We stayed in one of the cabins which was a cosy but pleasant room with clean and comfortable facilities, and - mercifully - a powerful airconditioning unit as it was very hot (for us Northern Europeans!) when we were there.

Our hosts were very helpful indeed and accommodated our every need, and were particularly helpful in giving information about exploring Etna and the surrounds. Would definitely recommend Etna Hut in this respect.

The hotel was good overall - comfortable rooms, good pool and a tennis court.

What makes the real difference is Mimo and his wife who made sure throughout the entire week that we'll enjoy our stay to the max - Mimo sat with us every day to make sure our itinerary is the best, that we go to the right places and that we use the right roads to get away from the traffic and get the maximal level of scenic views.

Mimo's great English and both his wife and his service isn't something you find in a lot of places. When he found out that I have special dietary needs, he just went ahead and bought food so I'll have what to eat for breakfast although I urged him not to... He also pointed us out to some great restaurants in the area.

A perfect experience which I would happily take again!

We stayed at Etna Hut 2 weeks ago for a couple of nights and couldn't fault the place. We chose to stay based on its proximity to Mount Etna as it is around 20 minutes drive if you don't keep stopping to take photos like we did!

We stayed in one of the chalets at the back of the main house where the hosts and their family live. Each chalet has its own little veranda. The hut was just big enough for the two of us but there are villas that sleep more people but I cannot comment on those. They also have free onsite parking.

Breakfast is served in an airy glass room attached to the main house. It's basic but sufficient. The pool area is nice and there is even a tennis court!

As the B&B is not really within walking distance of Nicolosi, the hosts will cook for you. We had our own little table out on the main house veranda with a fabulous view overlooking the coast and Catania and had 2 lovely home cooked meals along with 2 bottles of wine each night. Perfect on a warm summer's evening.

The hosts were friendly and accommodating and we would certainly return if in the area again.
