“Very friendly”

We took our children here for lunch on. Sunday. Drawing for the children on the tables and games out side. Very friendly, nice food and delicious cakes.

“Just as good as last time!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2014

We visited Cockpit Farm for the second time at the weekend and it was just as good as our first visit! We can take our dog in, which is great, as they are very dog friendly! We enjoyed the most delicious bacon sandwiches followed by gorgeous jam and cream scones! We just love the place and will be back soon!

“Great food and ambience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2014

We went here yesterday (19th July 2014) for the first time despite it being only a short drive from our house. It was pouring with rain so sitting outside was not an option for us. Inside was a very pleasant country kitchen feel with stone floors and fireplaces. The decor was very nicely done and not over-bearing. The service was excellent with the friendly waitress answering my questions politely and actually knowing the answer without the usual phrase "I will just go and check".
The food came very quickly with the baked potato being delicious as it was baked in the oven, as they should be (not a nasty microwaved effort). The bacon sandwich was also good and oozing with butter; no awful margarine or spreads in sight. This is how tea rooms should be, using proper butter and serving great simple food. The menu was just the right size with plenty to choose from. The cakes on offer were delicious and we shared a slice of lemon curd cake between us as the portion was huge. There are only approx 6 tables in the tearoom and we got the last table, so you have to time it right to get a seat, but it is worth waiting for. I liked the idea of the blackboard on the wall describing all the wildlife that can be found on the farm. There were a few gifts on offer for sale and I purchased a beautiful daisy scarf for a mere £6. The whole experience was excellent and we look forward to going again, especially as there is a loyalty card scheme, and hopefully see some of the wildlife on offer.

“Great coffee, but”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2014

I'm not a fan. The service was friendly, but the menu was unimaginative and the food no better than perfectly acceptable. I found it a bit over-priced for what it was.
I was put off by the so-called "milkshake", which was NOT home-made (made up from a mix) - though the waitress was perfectly pleasant about changing it.
There was a small range of cakes on offer. Of course, beewbee, no one wants to be left with too much unsold food at the end of the day, but judging how much to prepare is one of the arts required to run a successful restaurant.

“Excellent tea room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2014

This is one of the best tea rooms in Yorkshire if not the best. Brilliant service and good wholesome food. Take no notice of the 1 bad review. Poor lady needs to get real. This type of establishment provides daily fresh food. They do not want oodles of grub left at shutting time. It is annoying not getting want you want but at this late hour in the afternoon shortages can be expected. I love the flap jack served here but it sells fast and I occasionally lose out .Better luck next time. I am pleased that Sue and her staff have such a lovely place in this area and can sell all they make. Well done Cockpit Farm keep up the good work.
