First the positive: this is a beautiful building, with inlaid marble floors and our room was lovely with a partial beach view and a small balcony. It was much nicer than others I've visited in Jamaica in the same price category. The pool does have an infinity edge and a small circular area that looks as if it might have been a hot tub at one time. There is a swim up bar, but like the pool, looks old and as if it had some slight upgrading years ago. The pool is not heated and there is no hot tub, and since the first few days were dark and very windy, I was disappointed.
The food at the buffet is very typical of any Caribbean resort - half desserts, some salad, a little fruit, etc. There are "specialty" restaurants which must be reserved upon arrival. I was told that we were "guaranteed" two reservations since we were staying for four nights. However, they do not open until 6:30pm (very European) and the seatings that were available were at 9pm. Since I was travelling with two children, this meant I did not get to eat at the restaurants. I went to each of them, though, several times between 6:30 and 8:00pm, just to look...and they were only half full. I think this is part of their business plan - to offer "upgraded" food and then make it unavailable. I spoke to other families and they had also been offered the 9pm only reservations.
The wait staff were all very nice, tried to be helpful, even though there are apparently no standards or training. For example, a "Rum Punch" means something different depending on who makes it. One had Sprite, One had bitters, another had a half glass of triple sec:( I brought $100 in $5 bills and handed them out to anyone who made a decent drink and to the food crew, resulting in marginally better service.
There is a mini bar in the room which is stocked with one each of regular Coke, diet Coke, grape soda, regular beer etc. I asked at the front desk if I could have lite beer and diet Coke only. I was told that Lite Beer is a For Purchase item only and I should go to the Gift Shop and buy it!They said okay to the diet Coke but no one came to change it. I went down a second time, asked politely for Diet Coke and got a more hostile "No Problem, man". By the third time I was annoyed - I had also asked for a pen and paper since there was none in my room. The desk clerk challenged me - told me there WAS one in the room (but there wasn't - why would anyone lie about something like that?). The reason I wanted a pen and paper was to leave a note for the cleaning ladies to ask for regular coffee (they only left decaf) and the begged for Diet Coke, with which I always leave a tip.
I asked to speak to the hotel manager and was told absolutely not; that there was no manager on the premises, and that I had to fill out a form, speak to the guest services clerk who was off for the night, and then, if the guest services manager felt like it, I might be granted an audience with the manager. I gave up, and told the hostile front desk crew to look for this review:)
We went on the mango kayak and snorkeling tour which was very nice - the kayaking is easy even for children and it was nice to leave the resort.
One warning: the website makes it look as if the Iberostar is one property. It is not - and Beach guests are restrained from entering the adjacent property - it is the same building - by staffers who stand on the sidewalk blocking the way. When I looked at the web, I thought I'd have access to the water park and other restaurants. Nope. I couldn't even get in to look around or buy a t-shirt.
For the money, I would probably go back to the Holiday Inn Sunspree which has similar food and nicer staff, as well as a heated hot tub for cold days. They also have drink recipes so if you find something you like, it can be replicated.

Our pool does indeed have an infinity area and we always review and challenge ourselves to make our hotel more outstanding having various leisure and relaxation options to choose from.
We will pass your comments to our Executive chef for he indeed offers a huge amount of tropical food, along with other various other cuisines, giving our guest options to choose from. As for our restaurant we do provided three a la cartes along with a main buffet, the menus offer four to five main entrée which would have been a delight for us, if you had chosen to visit one. However we thank you for dinning at our main buffet for your stay here, having the wide variety it has.
There are several bars on property, like for example the lobby bar, pool bar, music bar and theater bar each having unlimited options as you might have mentioned, such has rum punch and other spirit options. Hence we will pass on your reviews about the “mixing” to the necessary department and extend our thanks to you as we are always open to advices in continuing our five star services here at the Iberostar Beach.
The mini bar is in fact refilled every other day with various beverages; beer, sodas and water however do apologize about the miscommunication. We ensure good hospitality and services form our staff member as they are the directed personnel you, our guest, communicate with and we will acknowledge and brief each department as to always keep their hospitality and good conducted present towards our valued guest.
Our Public Relation department operates from 9 am to 11 pm, having multiple agents here to assist along with our General Manager and Assistant General Manager; we do extend our apology for not being able to meet with either management.
The dive center do offer outstanding amount of activities and it is splendid you and your family were able to participate and enjoyed the marvelous attraction of our coral reefs.
However we do anticipate your return for and we thank you for your reviews, as we are open and willing to always be improving on our five star hospitality and services to offer to our guest.
