“Second time around!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013

Just returned last night from Iberostar Suites. I spent this vacation with my two adult daughters and two granddaughters. We had the best time, and never laughed so much. Kudos to some people (Cassandra from the pool bar, Sting Rae, Sweetness, and Happy Feet (Star Friends) They are the best and make your vacation memorable. They all work very hard and I will definitely return again. Unfortunately I will never book my hotel transfer with Tourwise. They were supposed to pick me up at 115 p.m. to return to airport, and did not pick me up until 145 p.m.and that was because the bell hop called them. I was told by some staff that they are always late. This is no reflection on the hotel. But business is business.Get it together Tourwise and change that sign in your van. (Tips are appreciated, not customary)

Room Tip: Room numbers are very confusing. It takes a couple of days to figure it out.

Just got back and could not wait to write this review. Have experienced many resorts and the Suites are at the top of the list for all-inclusive experiences. From the time that the attendants greeted us upon our arrival, to the last handshake as we left, it was nothing but exceptional service from a first rate staff. When we did have a question or issue, it was addressed in a timely fashion and always with an apology if we were inconvenienced.
The STAR crew was vibrant and enthusiastic. They encouraged participation, but were not pushy in any way. There energy is contagious and there showmanship is great. Don't miss the 9:30 shows.
Restaurants were very good. Pamper yourself with the Gourmet. Mediteranean was also very good. We had no difficulty scheduling. The buffet was enjoyable each time we ate there. Staff was courteous and open to your requests. Food selections covered full gamut. The Ruby area near the beach offers a quaint, relaxing lunch option when at the beach.
The rooms were magnificent. Ask for a third or fourth floor room to maximize the views from ocean view suites.Overall a great experience.

Room Tip: Stay on third or fourth floor to stay above the hustle and to maximize the view

My boyfriend and I stayed at this resort for our birthdays in February. The trip was a gift, so we didn't have to pay for it, but if we did, I would've felt like it was a waste of money. Here's why:

- Rooms and bathrooms could be cleaner. The bathrooms came with a stand up shower and a jacuzzi tub. The stand up shower was incredibly small, dark, and had no shelves for toiletries. The tub had paint splatter all over it. Also, there was mold in the shower.

- The one full length mirror in the room was behind a door that led to the bedroom quarters of the suite, so, if one person was using the mirror, they were completely separated from the other because you have to close the door to the bedroom to see the mirror.

- They do not allow you to eat near the pool.

- They don't play much music by the pool. Maybe an hour, tops, each day, and the rest of the time it's quiet. When I go to Jamaica, I expect to hear some reggae and party!

- Food was average at best. The "Japanese Hibachi" restaurant shouldn't even be considered Japanese. It tasted nothing like traditional hibachi and they didn't even have teriyaki sauce. Like, c'mon!

- Alcoholic drinks were watered down.

- When we requested another room we were told that all the rooms were booked.

- My sister booked us a couple's massage before we went on the trip and was told that a card would be on our pillow when we arrived in the room. That never happened AND no one at the resort ever informed us that there was a massage purchased for us. When I spoke to my sister during the trip, she asked if we got the massage and my answer was "what massage?"

All in all, it was an average trip for the amount of money they charge.

Dear guest,

Let me begin by thanking you for choosing Iberostar Rose Hall Suites to spend your vacation and for posting your comments here on Trip Advisor. We are saddened to hear that you were not fully satisfied with your recent stay with us and will be sure to pass your comments to the respective manager.

We truly regret to know that you are not pleased with our policy of not allowing food by the pool; but this is a hygiene and safety reason and we truly regret any discomfort you may have experienced as a result of this. As it pertains to poolside entertainment, music is played throughout the day at the pool. Our Starfriends are on the pool deck from 10am doing various activities with music and after a short break during which music is played, continues with the daily program until 5pm. We also have a Jamaican Beach party every Saturday night at 9.

With regards to your massage we regret hearing that you did not receive this service, however had we been aware of this complaint while you were here we would have certainly rectified the situation. We are certainly apologetic for you not receiving this service while you were here as we are certain you would have enjoyed it.

It was our pleasure hosting you here at Iberostar, and despite these challenges you had we do hope that we will be given the opportunity of hosting you at our hotel once more.

All-in-all we (me, wife, boys 6 & 10) really enjoyed our trip to this resort. Having stayed at mega resorts, i.e. in Riviera Maya and Punta Cana, we were at first taken aback by the smaller size of the Suites. However, in hindsight, we believe it to be a positive in that you get to know the staff and fellow vacationers much better and that naturally added to the whole experience.

We arrived early afternoon and dealt with Andre (sp?) at the front desk. He was very cordial and professional and when we asked for a ‘good room with a nice view’, he said he would see what he could do. Since we arrived before our room was ready we headed to the buffet for lunch….more on the food later. After eating we went back to see Andre and he personally led us to our room to check on it. The cleaning crew was just finishing up so he led us back to the lobby for us to retrieve our luggage. The room (4315) had a nice view of the pool and the ocean in the distance; point being is that Andre did good and his level of service was excellent!

I’ll get the cons out of the way first – our biggest disappointment was primarily with the beach and ocean. I’m sure due in large part to the resorts location geographically speaking. We learned it’s a man-made beach and the sand is coarse with rocks mixed in, especially at the water’s edge. As for the ocean and its color, it reminded me more of the Atlantic on the Eastern seaboard. Guess I’ve been spoiled by other beaches throughout the Caribbean and Gulf Coast. My only other con was that the weather didn’t fully cooperate and the wind on the beach, whipping the sand all about, made spending time there almost unbearable half the trip….no controlling Mother Nature though!

We found the resort to be very well maintained, as others have posted, with crews constantly cleaning. Back to the room…Room was nice with plenty of room for the 4 of us. We used the sofa sleeper so with the 2 doubles, the 3 beds total allowed us to spread out. The cleaning crew did a good job daily and only on occasion did we have to call down to the front desk for more wash cloths or more waters for the mini-fridge; all of which were brought promptly. The evening turndown service and hauling away of towels from getting cleaned up in the evening was a nice touch too.

The pool area and grounds were great, all nicely laid out and ez to get around. While the crowds ebbed and flowed throughout the week, we never had any issues getting loungers at the pool or beach. Additionally I liked how they had the main pool with its cool negative edge and a separate one with a volleyball net and basketball hoop. The covered area with ping pong (table tennis) tables, a dart board, and foosball table was enjoyable and close to the pool so we could keep an eye on the boys when needed. Can’t leave out mentioning the lazy river which, was really, really lazy but that just meant the boys had to ‘work’ to get around it! No worries Mon!

Food – I will say that for an all-inclusive, the resort really excelled here. We found the food at the buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner had a nice daily variety. No point in nit-picking here, the quality was solid, there were plenty of options, and they did a decent job of flavoring the food all-in-all. As for the restaurants, we ate at the Japanese, Steak House, Mediterranean, and Gourmet. We really enjoyed the Mediterranean and Gourmet with their variety of fish and meat dishes, and some desserts you didn’t find in the buffet. Our biggest disappointment was at the Steak House! We read and heard so many good things but our experience was anything but. Of the 4 of us, 3 ordered the tenderloin and all 3 were tough and chewy. One family we hung out with had a similar experience while another family had an enjoyable one – go figure.

Lastly, the Star Friends and certain staff members are what made this trip worth every penny! The Star Friends (shout out to MoMo, VIP, Happy Feet, Sweetness, China, Cleo, and Twitter – who I since read didn’t get offered a position boo-hoo) were AWESOME! They were absolutely fantastic in keeping the adults and kids busy and entertained! These folks were just so much fun to hang and play around with. They did their organized events but weren’t pushy if you didn’t want to join in, and they also hung out and played pick-up games of sand soccer, ping pong, whatever….We hung out with MoMo, VIP and Sweetness the most and really got to know them, even at a personal level; and what an enjoyable experience it was. The nightly entertainment was pretty hokey and you can read about that in other posts but when you hang out with new found friends and the occasional evening when the Star Friends also hung out with all of us, every evening was a good time and entertaining! I can’t go without mentioning O’Neil & Shannee (great servers, really friendly!), Ishalee (sp? – pool bar by the ice cream stand; super nice and friendly), and Roderick (great pool bartender who learns your name the first time and makes an awesome drink – the Roderick Special!).

One final note – many thanks to Jennifer (jennifer@tripguy.com) with TripGuy (www.tripguy.com). Given the plethora of options out there Jennifer dutifully noted our vacation criteria and worked with us diligently to plan our vacation. She was always quick to respond and had great follow-thru! Thanks Jennifer, looking forward to planning our next vacation with you! YEA MON!

This was our 5th time with Iberostar but first time at Rose hall suits and most things surpassed our expectations. we were a family party made up of me my wife, my grown up daughter and mother and father-in-law
We had an ocean view junior suit on the fourth floor in block four. The room was spacious, well decorated and clean. The beds were comfortable and the mini bar fridge was re-stocked every day (Although room info stated that it would only be replenished every other day) There was an issue with humidity causing marble floors to appear wet but this was resolved by closing the doors and switching on the A/C (which had a de-humidifying effect).
The beach and infinity pool were very good and we had no trouble in getting loungers on the beach. the sand was fine and white, sea was normally calm and easily accessible with no rocks until you waded out beyond 20'. the entertainers were mostly very friendly with Tweeta being the most genuine and approachable (unfortunately we were sad to hear he was not successful in gaining a permanent position on the entertainment team and no longer works in the resort). the pool area became very lively in the afternoon when a section of the pool bar contingent liked to whoop loudly at everything that happened during the animation teams games and entertainment routine.
The food was excellent and we had absolutely no complaints with the variety or quality of what was on offer. the speciality restaurants were very good but we found the buffet restaurant to be best as it had the most variety (and the dress code a little more relaxed). we found all the waiting staff to be very friendly especially Conrad, Shandice, Patricia, Sonhill and Tevin.
Evening entertainment was OK but most of the shows are of a generic Iberostar format that we have seen several times before at other resorts over the years. Also there were too many audience participation shows which also lacked originality (e.g. Mister Iberostar, Ideal couple, etc). We would have liked to have seen more live reggae bands playing on the evening.
The disco was very good, the only complaint being that smoking is still allowed and it can get quite smoggy and uncomfortable when cigars are being smoked.
Overall we had a fantastic time and thought the resort and staff were excellent. this was one of the best Iberorstar resorts we have stayed in and we would definitely return again in the future.

Room Tip: Ask for high floors for best sea view. ground floor and second floor (access to reception and Bars...

This is another repeat trip for us and after excellent experiences in the past, we urged others to travel here as well. We had a group of 10 traveling to celebrate some momentous occasions. Overall, our trip was excellent due to the Jamaican staff ensuring once again our stay was enjoyable. However, some other staff members (management/Celine Ferran) weren't as accommodating and downright confrontational with us. Our group spent well over $25,000 for this trip and had we known we'd have to face confrontation and adversity, we would have stayed home or vacationed elsewhere. Had we let our first day experience with Ms. Ferran affect our vacation and the Jamaican staff weren't as excellent as they normally are, our rating for this experience would be far less. Thank God for the Jamaican staff who I might add are underpaid and not appreciated. To Management, It would be beneficial to your customers, past and future, if your management/pr staff were trained on effective customer relations.
