This was the first time to the IRHS, been a couple of times to Jamaica,14th or so 4.5 - 5 star all inclusive. The IRHS as compared to other Iberostars was superior ( couldn't compare the Grand ). Check in was a breeze, great people at the front desk, all of our requests were met. Room was as expected with a view of the pools and ocean. Great access to lobby and beach without the big hike as some of the large resorts. Grounds are well manicured ,as a whole the complex is clean. Restaurants were good, some better than others, buffet had a great selection. ( Lobster was not offered through the last part of the stay due to the end lobster fishing season ? ) Some premium liquors and good selection of drinks at all bars.
The Infinity pool was great, beach was good, Grand beach sand / swimming area was best. Suites section was ok and the Beach section was not as nice. Sea urchins in the weed parts, watch out. Best snorkelling in the rock reef between the Suites & the Beach, in front of Aunt Ruby’s restaurant. Snorkel in the morning as the traffic stirs up sand and makes the water cloudy.
Excursions, did the Dreamer catamaran 3 hour trip. Pretty lame 20 min sail in a circle and then snorkelling on a dead reef ( told us it was live, maybe it's what they call live ?), various tropical reef fish and they feed them to gather. Somewhat disappointed, however, I did get to see a mature French gent get drunk and pole dance. Worth half the admission right there. Margarittaville, same as most bars, but nice view of the ocean. Hip strip in MoBay is jip strip, shop at Rose Hall or another duty free mall, avoid the stress.
Night shows, some better than others, Boogie nights and Reggae were good with live singing. Dance performers were entertaining, good choreography, sound quality and comfortable seating.
The people that work at this resort made the stay relaxing, fun and worry free. The All Star Team, servers, bartenders and support staff were all good natured and had time to joke and chat.
Maybe it's me..... but if some of the big wedding party groups would not all stand in front of the bar at the same time, I could have got a drink at that bar, instead I had to go to another. Thanks. The large groups did raise the volume level and swearity. Some of these people were too drunk or forgot their brain at home, a shame as it ruined the relaxation mode, good for teaching kids what not to do. Some of the new parents with the babies, we did it too, but our kids never screamed as much or ran the hallway at 06:50am. Thanks for the early wake up! The large groups of inconsiderate people that stayed at this resort will ensure that I will not return. This would be the resort for large loud groups.
