Hilton Rose hall
First off “THANX” to everyone who has ever written a review!
Before we booked the Hilton I read every one.
We went last week for a 5-day Honeymoon; we are very experienced travelers and always make our own way from Airport etc. So no worries there, Air Jamaica slightly delayed upgraded to first class for $150 so that was cool and we got a bit of a spin at immigration as my wife and I had been in Mexico and Costa Rica in last month, but no big deal.
Check in had a little Hiccup but Sophia the front desk manager had it all sorted in no time flat.
Very impressed at the initial feel and vibe of the hotel.
Had an upgraded room #400 oceanfront right on the corner of the Pool and golf course.
Very nice room not overly large but well proportioned and immaculate furnishings, small bathroom but again very nicely appointed and nice amenities.
The whole feel of common areas and corridors and rooms is that it has just under gone a major refurb although I think it was over 18 months ago.
As with every All inclusive I always approach the food like eating at Chillis, Fridays etc.
The food at the buffet, Fresh was Excellent in quality and choice, always four cooking stations and great variety, breakfast was flawless. Always lots of fruit and fresh omelet’s as usual they could use 20 toasters but no big deal. The waiter “Onell” was superb. Never went there for lunch but walk thru and it looked fine.
Ate at mangoes no worries nice choice great salad,
Made reservations at all three restaurants not a problem at all ( I hate that part of an AI but that’s how they do it)
greased the wheels a little for some better times and had no issues.
The luna was a really nice setting the staff were excellent, in fact throughout the resort the level of training and attention is outstanding. Food fine, wine ridiculously overpriced but the whole experience was really the staff and service and it was Great.
Same thing at the seaside excellent staff.
Went to three palms and loved the setting, service was truly spectacular. Food great, issues with my wife’s meal resolved in seconds and attended to by three members of staff!
I read all the reports on the food and you would think that these resorts are sold as Epicurean and gourmet retreats by the way they are harshly reviewed. THE FOOD AND SERVICE REPRESENT EXCELLENT VALUE.
The pools are great, nice little water park, fun swim up bar, beach is fine YES it is rocky and it is not a picturesque azure lagoon as it is on the North Coast.
A problem that keeps getting reported that I don’t see as Hotel issue but guests, there are TONS of beds and chairs but they are reserved with towels as early as 4.30am all the cabanas are taken by 6.30am which is BS people must get up put the towels out go back to bed. I suppose the hotel could manage this by having pool personnel take people to loungers and encourage them only to reserve when they actually going to be there. I am originally from UK and this is inherently a European thing (even the butt of a car commercial when I was a kid “if you want to beat the Germans to the pool in a morning buy an Audi”) Still not a major issue
There is an issues with flies that I think the hotel could resolve by installing some kind of deterrent system Not sure why they don’t?
The main bar is a pain and really there should be another one, my idea would be turn seaside restaurant into a little lounge after 9pm til midnight and use the pool bar?
We met some great people at the bar and had a blast watching the Magic games and after a few bucks thrown into the right hands getting drinks was not an issue. All the bartenders were very cool if not a little overworked
Many people at this resort are there for over 14-21 days so I can see how things become routine or repeated. I think this would be the same worldwide.
We had a fabulous time at the Hilton and would strongly recommend it to anyone; we are taking the kids back before summer break is over for four days. I know they will have a blast.
We took a few excursions and had fun the Horseback swim was really a blast.
Jamaica is a great place and YES people are hustling for money they have lost thousands of jobs in mining and garment manufacturer and tourism is all they have left. Whenever we travel we always take about $300 in singles and freely spread them out three bucks here four bucks there makes a huge difference and of course it reflects in the service, I am sure all the staff chatter about this.
We booked the trip on lmtclub.com, flights and hotel AI for 5 nights for $2k how can you beat that!!!! It was a fantastic honeymoon and thanx to everyone at the Hotel and everyone we met for helping us celebrate.
