“Amazing Family vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2014

Everyone from the front desk to the wait staff by the pool was amazing. ASTON the waiter was magnificent. He treated us like family. He was so helpful with my children as well.

Rob the Director of Food and Beverage was so helpful and friendly as well. He was always out making sure everything was going smooth.

I recommend this hotel for all types of families with children of all ages

The only very good about this Hilton property is people. Some of the staff are absolutely adorable persons. Simple, friendly and sooooo good.
But, anyway, this is very-very poor hotel for "package" tourists. The hotel is extremely old. No one really care about that. Rooms stuck in 60s or 70s (the bed is good), very old, smelly and very narrow, no space for anything but sleeping.
The amenities are awful. The smell of alcohol is everywhere. You need special cards for towels (we are in USSR, guys?!). One day, all the sun beds were taken. No enough umbrellas. Strange very loud pool afternoon kinda live music.
Meals are the worst ever. Disgusting. Drinks are cheap, but ok.
This hotel? Just if you would like to experience a resort of old times or imagine to be your grandma to enjoy.
Oh, one big +. Ocean. The ocean. AWESOME.

The management and staff would like to thank you for your recent visit and feedback regarding your recent stay at our beautiful resort.

It is disappointing to learn that we fell short of your expectations. The total satisfaction of our guests is of utmost importance to us and we strive to provide a memorable experience to everyone. We usually receive excellent comments from our guest on Tripadvisor as well through other channels and definately our staff is one of the main reasons for this success.

Again, my sincere apologies and I do hope that we get the opportunity to welcome you back to our beautiful resort.

Sincerely yours,

Just got back from 3 nights here (JetBlue cancelled our flight and missed our cruise ship so had to meet it in Montego Bay...thanks JetBLue!!). Anyway...is it the Taj Mahal? No. Is it an excellent, relaxed, friendly, all-incusive with a great beach, fun pool and waterslides for the kids, a great main pool, fun entertainment, good drinks, and plentiful food thats more than decent...YES. I research everything so was nervous about the few picky reviewers here who trashed the place. I can say that we're going back...it was everything we needed and more. EVERYONE was super nice and seemed happy. NO pressure to tip extra, but stock your pockets with $1's because you'll ant to. A couple bucks go a long way. What started out as a stressful vacation because of a cancelled flight ended up a blessing in disguise because we got to spend three nights of exactly what we needed...realxing, having fun, enjoying drinks and food and being together as a family. We went on school vacation week but had no problems getting chairs (got there before 9am), no long lines for anything, got reservations at all the upscale restaurants included in the package. Had a blast and will return. Arie Arie mon....

Room Tip: Splurge th extra $40-50 for Oceanfront...view is ridiculous. West wing quieter.

My husband and I booked this trip after researching several places for our destination wedding. It was he and I, along with our children ages 20, 15, and 11, my uncle, mom and dad. We LOVED this place!! Food was good, we ate at the buffet for breakfast and dinner every night while lunch we varied from buffet to the pool side cabana or the ocean front restaurant. Even our wedding night, we chose the buffet over the "fancy" dinner. If you go to the buffet, look up Melrose. She was by far our best waitress!! :). At the buffet, even our pickiest of eaters got what they wanted.

Poolside swim- up bar: Nickolov was by far the best bartender there!! He always helped us out, our drinks were never waited on, he entertained us, talked to us about attractions to see, etc. he helped make our stay most enjoyable and we couldn't wait to see him the next day and talk to him about our excursions or see what sites we should see that day or the next! He's one of the reasons, along with Melrose, that we would definitely go back!!

Wedding: Belinda was EXCELLENT!! She took care of everything for me and put up with my mind-changing/flight of ideas!! She was very attentive and got every last detail PERFECT.... I wasn't bridezilla, but I would change my mind here and there or bounce ideas off of her. She was so patient and helpful and she picked a WONDERFUL room for us!! She does great work!!

I have to say our only disappointment with this hotel was the ocean, which they cannot help. It always looked churned up and never clear. I like to get in the ocean on vacation, but we didn't here really because of this. Once we did do the catamaran and another day a kayak, but never could snorkel much to our disappointment.

Entertainment was great and we loved Jean!!! She would even see us out and about and greeted us like long lost friends!! We lived that the people made you feel so welcomed!! The nightly entertainment was good too, especially my favorite, the steel drums!!

There are so many others we liked so well and didn't mention but we can't wait to go back and see them again soon!!

We have just returned from our 3rd visit to Hilton Rose Hall. We were married there in 2012 and have spent each Anniversary there since.
The staff are one of the main reasons we continue to return. Given the number of guests that pass through their doors each year, it continues to amaze us that we are recognized and "welcomed home" by so many staff members .
A few reviews have mentioned that the staff were unfriendly or not accommodating. That couldn't be further from the truth. RESPECT is a strong word in Jamaica.
We have never experienced anything but respect from the staff and in return we hope that we conveyed that message back to them. Yes, tips are appreciated but they are NOT requested or expected. If you don't tip that's OK with them too since they realize that not everyone can't afford it. You will not be treated any differently than if you do tip. Please realise though that minimum wage in Jamaica is quite low and the extra that is received can make a difference to someone.

As for the reviews that mention that there were no chairs available, that can be the case sometimes. We only experienced this on one occasion. However, a lifeguard(I believe his name was Kendrick? He appeared to be the main guard during our stay) noticed that we were looking for a seat in the shade and immediately came over and let us know that he was going to go right away and bring us seats. All you have to do is ask and someone is going to look after you at this wonderful resort.

Previous reviews stated that there was a lack of premium liquor available. I'm not sure what they could possibly have been looking for because all the liquor that we saw was top notch and poured liberally!! Make sure you try a Mudslide at the swim up bar. Delicious! We have to apologize to the bartenders there who had to accept our soggy tips!

The lazy river and waterslides are just as much fun for the adults as for the kids we saw there. At times it seemed like there were too few tubes to be had but all you had to do was swim around the river once and you found one along your way. Not a big problem. After all you are on vacation so what's the rush - soon come!

Ensure a visit to Soothe Spa is on your agenda. The massage therapists are registered so you can get a receipt and have it covered by your health benefits. The Mango shot and ice water at the end just tops it off. Excellent....

The food was great as usual.

Fresh Buffet offers a delicious breakfast including an omelette station to die for. The menu changes each night with a different theme. Fresh fruit, salads and baked goods are always available. Each meal always has a Jamaican traditional dish as well for those who are looking for a taste of the island. We loved the ackee and saltfish and the steamed vegetables were great. After 11pm they offer hot, fresh pizza, patties and sandwiches. As if we really needed any more food!

Three Palms was our choice for our Anniversary meal. It did not disappoint. The food, service and ambiance is second to none. Our servers were Ryan and Gilroy who made sure we had a great time. The salmon was exquisite and we should have asked for the recipe. We were served champagne and a special flaming dessert with Happy Anniversary written on the plate that presented to us to complete a fantastic evening.

Seaside is the outdoor evening dining spot and offers lunch each day as well. It was a beautiful evening the evening we were here (and what evening is not beautiful in Jamaica?) and once again the meal was amazing. Nathan looked after us that evening and his attention to detail was second to none.
Each year it seems that the quality of the food improves. How they improve on what we perceived to be perfection in the first place, I have no idea but keep up the great work. You can see the chefs preparing the food if you walk by during the day and they genuinely seem to be enjoying their work. That's the case with every staff member that we met. It's a pleasure to spend time with people who are happy. You can't help but be happy yourself.

Make sure you stop by for lunch at the Jerk Mo Cart - this year more of a mini buffet. The salads are refreshing and delicious and the jerk chicken and burgers are a hit.

The grounds are beautiful here and are only spoiled by rude guests who leave their empty glasses lying around. The staff work very hard to maintain the resort and are constantly picking up after inconsiderate guests.

Bar Frog King is a great place to sit and have a drink in the shade on a hot afternoon or sit in the evening watching the palms wave in the breeze.

A few special mentions for our favorite staff members...

Bar Frog King
Donna - what can we say about this amazing server? You helped make our vacation extra special. You are a caring and genuine person that we look forward to seeing again next year.
Cynthia- thanks again for having the white wine cold and ready for our afternoon Scrabble games.
Rocky and Richard - we didn't see much of you this year so next year we'll call ahead for your schedule!

Paulette - our housekeeper who made a beautiful towel swan decorated with flower petals on the evening of our Anniversary.
Claudia at the activity centre - we'll beat Paul next year at corn toss!
Bobby - the groundskeeper. It was a pleasure to see you again this year and learn more about the Jamaican floral. A true treasure to the Hilton and long time employee who you will see regularly walking the grounds to make sure everything is perfect. Ask this man if you have any questions about the local flowers - he's your expert.
The 2 resident cats. The especially vocal little one at 3 Palms and the one on the main property. Too cute.

Thanks also to the Hilton for sending us the cheese platter and wine the first night and the champagne on our Anniversary evening. It was so nice to come back to our room these nights and find your thoughtful gifts waiting for us. It's the little things that stand out and make the difference.

Our last night was bitter-sweet. We felt like we were saying goodbye to everyone and leaving behind our Jamaica family. We miss them all.

Once again we were thrilled with our choice to be at the Hilton Rose Hall this year. Being loyal Hilton Honors Members we have stayed at many Hilton properties. It should be a prerequisite to employment with any Hilton property that you must spend a week at Hilton Rose Hall to see what customer service is really about and the standards that should be adhered to. The service and genuine hospitality is to be commended.

I would encourage anyone to make this resort their destination of choice. We travelled as a couple and appreciated the fact that this resort caters to everyone. From the small children to the adult children vacationing with their elderly parents. You will be respected and appreciated.

Congratulation to the entire Hilton team that once again gave us ten days in Paradise.

See you next year and BTW -

My family and I just returned from Hilton Rose Hall and we couldn't have been more pleased with the resort. Everything was wonderful, especially the service. Romaine from Fresh was great with my 2 children Zach and Sammy, making them feel extra special. One other exceptional server to mention is Colin from Luna di Mere. He was so attentive and great with my children. I wish we could find service like that in New York! The only, only complaint we had during our stay was with JTL Tours. They brought us from the airport to the resort and lost my son's bag. We wheeled all of our bags out to the bus, and were waiting to load them onto the bus. But the JTL staff kept telling us they will put them on, and for us to get on the bus. So one bit of advice: don't get on the bus until you see all of your luggage has made it on the bus.

We love love loved it our second time here. As a matter of fact, it felt like visiting family here. We were a larger group this time of 15 people (adults and children) and we all left with smiles on our faces. The people who work at Rose Hall do so with a smile and pride in whatever they do. We met a gentleman at BBQ night who's job it was to keep the luminious globes lit on the table in any fashion with a remote. He demonstrated what he can do for us, and he had such pride. He explained how each night it is someone else's job to do it, that they all take a part in it. We made a new family member this trip, Teyonnie Paul. This man waited on us at the beach for food, drink, or just to see how our day was going. He knew us by name, and he would give us a hug or a fist bump anytime he saw us, even if he saw us and we didn't see him! And he knows his foods and drinks!
The kids (ages 12-18) had a blast and stayed relaxed the whole week. And as for the adults, all we needed was the beach, and we were set! Even the kids agree, we would go back in a heartbeat. Though we were sad to leave, a staff member reminded us that we have to leave in order to come back. Great viewpoint.
The food was great. We enjoyed it all. Though the buffet could be a bit repetitive at lunch, you have options. And though many people complain breakfast is the same, there are so many selections, you can vary your breakfast each day. Props to Sylvester and his omelets! The man is an omelet making machine! Who else can make 6 omelets at one time, and remember each individual order?
One more shout out to Aston, whose smile brightens our day!

Room Tip: Rooms anywhere are fine. We were only in them to shower and sleep!
