“A special place to take YOUR honeymoon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2013

Fantastic!! We could not have imagined a better honeymoon. We were welcomed, treated like royalty, put in a beautiful room- fully stocked with whatever WE wanted, had great butlers- Kevoy, Kav, and Davian (3 of many very hard working men), walked clean beaches, swam in fancy pools, enjoyed enough activities to keep busy but it was quiet enough to not feel like a party scene. After reading reviews online we decided to have Kevoy book all of our reservations the first night of our stay and had no problem getting into any of them- though, we skipped the surf and turf the second time around to do the buffet. The buffet was EXCELLENT; always changing and always fresh and hot. The waitstaff in the buffett were also very pleasant and on top of it at all times. We look forward to going back and staying again in the future.

I hate to say this but we were a little disappointed, considering we have stayed several times at different Iberostar’s. Three years ago we stayed next door at the Suites with our two kids, we loved it. We thought moving to the Grand would be even better. Both resorts are identical, even the placement of the restaurants which the food is comparable. The staff at the Grand is excellent, very friendly. When we arrived we were told we had a room with our own pool, when we went to the room they were doing construction right outside of our room. We told Natalie at the front desk, she asked if we could stay in it for one night because the hotel was sold out. We said no problem, we spent the day at the pool (bar) had dinner called it a night. The next day they changed our room to 5401, fantastic, overlooking the pool and ocean with a double sized deck. The specialty restaurants are ok, the buffet is substandard, not what I expected from the Grand. The buffet at the Grand in Mexico is better than any specialty restaurant than here. If I could make any suggestions they should have reggae music maybe even a live steel drum band by the pool during the day and more waitress/waiters on the beach and by the pool. The entertainment by the pool is the same every day, volleyball, horseshoes and zumba. . If you don’t mind having kids around save your money and stay at the Suites. We love Jamaica but think the Grand is overpriced for what you get.

Dear Guest:

Thank you for taking the time on your return home to review our hotel. We were honored to have been able to serve you. We would also like to take this opportunity to express our appreciation for your patience whilst we attended to urgent maintenance work during your recent visit. Our property is certainly smaller than those you might have visited in Mexico, but what makes us unique is the personalized service and attention that we give each guest. We believe that we are able to get to know our guests better and can assure you that this is a quality that many of our repeat guests appreciate.

Both the Iberostar Suites Rose Hall and Iberostar Grand Rose Hall offer high levels of service, however there are differences to staying at the Suites which is geared towards families with children as opposed to having an Adults Only All-inclusive atmosphere. There is also an absolute difference in that The Iberostar Grand offers a wider variety of cuisine, better amenities and added perks such as a Butler and free wi-fi (available in the lobby).

We look forward to serving you again soon as we are hopeful that you will return soon.

I can't say enough spectacular things about this hotel. For the first few days, almost every sentence out of my mouth was, "this is the best hotel ever", and it is!! You feel like a celebrity the entire time. There are three tiers at this property so when you stay in the Grand, you can visit the suites and the standard hotel (although you may not want to because they are not as luxurious in almost every single way), but those staying in the lower tiers cannot come to the Grand to experience the fantastic amenities. There is a towel concierge (no more towel cards!) with free suntan lotion, top shelf drinks at the swim-up bar, fantastic fancy food and restaurants, and an incredible lobby bar situated inside of the incredible lobby. Did I mention this tier is 18+? Say goodbye to kids splashing in the pool and toddlers crying when you're at the height of luxury! The rooms are to die for. The closets are a thing out of women's dreams. The beds couldn't be more comfortable, and there is a PILLOW MENU. You read that right. You get to call and order the kind of pillow you want! There is an incredible balcony with the world's most comfortable swing. You won't spent much time in your room before you're greeted by your BUTLER!

One teeny tiny downside is that there is not WiFi in the rooms. I wanted to skype when I was there but couldn't on the computers in the lab. I see this as a minor thing, but some make consider it a great thing; we really shouldn't be on our phones in a beautiful resort in beautiful Jamaica.

The amazing-ness of this hotel cannot be experience by reading these reviews. What are you waiting for?! Go book it!!!

Room Tip: I think they are all fantastic, but some rooms have a pool view and some have an ocean view.

My wife and I gained about a pound a day here because of all the free top shelf drinks and fabulous food. That is about as rediculous a complaint as some of the negative reviews I have seen here. This trip was to celebrate our 20th anniversary and we honestly have no complaints at all, other than having to leave. All the amenities of the property are previously well described, it is a beautiful and very well maintaned property. The differance for us was the staff and they will be the reason for our return. Everyone here works very hard to make the Grand stand out from other resorts. Not only did we meet all of my butlers; Darwin, Kevin and Randy, we were spoiled by them and even returned some of their humorous antics. Unexpected champagne, turndowns, rose petals in our bubble baths, chocolates, as much dark rum as we could drink. Our daily hangout was the swim up bar where Jerry, Kerry and the "trainee" Wesley took supurb care of us It was nearly impossible to finish a drink without having a refill on its way. Jerry saw us from across the pool one morning and by the time we bellied up to the bar, our drinks were delivered with his beautiful smile. Our best meal was actually at the Italian restaurant on our last night. The reason was because of our waiter Karim. We ate there earlier in the week and our food was pretty good. Our service however, was outstanding. Karim should be the Tourism spokesman for the resort, or the country for that matter. He is a very eloqent and intelligent young man. We had him walk us through our choices on the menu, we trusted his opinion as he already knew our tastes. Not only was he spot on, he even had the Chef spice up our dishes with some Scotch Bonnet peppers. We are both very good cooks and this was one of the best meals and experiances we have ever had. With our very good bottle of Merlot and wonderful desserts, this was well over $100 dinner in the States. How could you not tip with service like this when someone goes far and above their "job". We are not rich people, although I know we tipped a lot better than most. We cannot treat people as servants and truely appreciated our interactions with everyone we went out of our way to engage. We never once saw anyone with their hand out, expecting a tip. The Management here have put together some of the most wonderful Jamaican people they could have possibly hired. Without them, this would still be a good resort. With them, it is absolutely amazing. This was the first time we were upset to come home from a vacation and are homesick to return already. We are both suffering from minor depression, not to mention Dark Rum withdrawls. If you don't know your Butlers and don't ask them to fix your "issues", thats your fault, not theirs. Some people cannot be made happy, that my friends is a state of mind that money cannot buy. We have adopted the Jamaican mindset; Love, Peace, Respect, the world would be a much better place if more people would too. We miss our new friends and will hopefully save enough money to return next year.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

I travelled with my husband and another couple during March break. We had requested two rooms in the same building but not side by side and with king beds.
When we arrived we asked if we could be upgraded but were told they were full and to come back the following day to see if any ocean views were available. Once we were brought to our rooms we had been placed right next door to our friends, which we didn't want (hearing through wall.....awkward). As well my husband and I received a room with a king and our friends a room with two doubles and no safe.
We felt bad for our friends as our room was great but our friends didn't meet their expectations. They used our safe until the following day when they did receive one after several calls and visits to the front desk.

That's about where the disappointment ended the rest of our vacation was awesome!
The service was a little hit and miss, mostly great but we had a few times such as room service, it took over an hour for a pizza, we called twice and it finally arrived.

Before we went I emailed and booked restaurants the first 3 nights which was a great time saver, I would do that again.

Food: We tried all of the a la carte restaurants, loved the surf and turf, steak and lobster were fantastic! We actually had dinner there twice because it was so great.
The gourmet was very beautiful and upscale, really loved the lobster again. We had dinner twice in the Japanese, once at the hibachi table which was a lot of fun and the food was great and again at a table and again great food! The Italian was my least favourite but still pretty good. The breakfast buffet was fantastic and we really enjoyed all the selection. I should also say the main buffet always had a much better selection than the buffet near the beach, although that did have the spectacular scenery of the ocean! Overall we all really enjoyed the food and ate lobster for almost every meal which was a real treat!

Beach: I had been to Couples Swept Away before and the beach in Negil is amazing so I was worried that this beach would be a disappointment.......it wasn't, the beach was beautiful! I had read about small rocks as you get in the water but I never even noticed them. Beautiful blue water with soft white sand, excellent beach. It was long enough for us to wander down, encounter some kids and then quickly wander back to our kidless beach (they actually stop all kids from setting foot on the grands beach) We are beach people and thought it was just perfect, you won't be disappointed.

Staff: All the star friends were great. The first night we followed "Crazy" all over the resort, he got us to the disco the first night and it was a blast! We found a lot of fun activities following the star friends, they really do make all the activities that much more fun. Our butler was there the first day and I asked for a bottle of Jamaican Rum Cream, it was in the room in the next 10 minutes. Although our butler was MIA on a few occasions but we would just go to the concierge and they would help us. The staff all work very hard and we tipped everyone the whole time we were there, they really deserved it.

This resort is beautiful, our room was a regular room, we faced the side that was all foliage and views of the water, amazing scenery. We lounged each night on our huge balcony, lazily swinging on our swing chair and listening to the waves, peaceful.

I loved that the resort is a short 20 minutes from the airport. We don't usually go to the same resort twice but we will be back, already looking to book again for next March!
The vibe is great at this resort, the pool was a great party hangout later in the afternoon for drinks.

We will be back to this resort because it has it all, beautiful huge rooms with an amazing balcony, great food, beautiful beach, fantastic staff and a relaxed fun vibe. Also can't beat being 20 minutes from the airport, oh and we never heard or saw one plane! Book this place you will love it!

If you have any questions please feel free to message me.

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade when you arrive! Higher floors have better views.

EVERTHING was PERFECT. Great staff, great food, great drinks, great facilities, great service and great entertainment. The first resort in Jamaica to offer genuine Jamaican food, drinks and fruit. If you want what you left back home in North America or Europe, you can have that also. Lobster and shrimps at every lunch and dinner. Jerk pork, jerk chicken were always available.

Clean beach, clean area around the pools. No hassle to get towels and covered lounge chairs either on the beach or aound the pool. None of the usual nonsense of having to hand in a taken to get a towel. If you want ten towels, you get ten towels. When finished, you walk away and staff picks them up. Every floor has a butler who gets just about anything that you desire. the block conciege was there until 11 pm to look after your wishes. None of the nonsense of having to get up early in the morning to book the specilaity restaurants.

The entertainment staff mingles with you day and night to ensure that you feel welcome. Excellent stay as we said best described as simple PERFECT.

All I want to do is go back and take friends with me.

we have been to Jamaica 3 times. stayed once at Sandals Whitehouse , and at Half Moon and now at Iberostar Grand Rose Hall. All 3 properties had a suite with "Butler Service" I berostars's butler service is a joke! we were there for a week and I could not tell you what our butlers name was. The room was fine, the food was fine, and the staff and property overall was fine. However for what it cost it should have been amazing! the other 2 places we stayed were comparable in price and they were both amazing! As well I have an allergy to shellfish which i declared everytime we dined but still ended up very very sick (first time this has ever happened) I was told by another couple that she saw the cook use his knife on lobster and then my chicken even though he was told about my allergy 3 times!

Dear Guest:

Thank you for choosing to share your feedback with us. We are certain that once the Chef was informed of your allergy to Shell Food, he would have used a separate knife for your food as we have had the experience of serving other guests with allergies. We apologize if this assumption caused undue stress to you. From your review, we wondered if there was something else that you might have chosen to eat which you are probably allergic to as well.

We remind guests that in order to meet with your Butler, especially if you spend a lot of time outdoors, contact should be made with the Concierge or Front Desk who will be happy to contact your Butler.

We regret the inconveniences you were caused and hope that you will allow us to serve you again in the near future.
