“A Very pleasent suprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2011

Not a lot of choice in Punakaiki so had low expectations of this place. Initial reaction was a very tidy west coast pub, has obviously been refurbed recently. Price of dinner menu was initially bit excessive but food more than live up to it. We had a glorious ribeye steak with bacon and special mushrooms, was a the best meal of our 7 day trip around the south island. I look forward to returning again soon.

“Expensive, poor queue management”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2011

This café is conveniently situated for the Pancake Rocks and seems to rely on the fact that travelers are unlikely to be visiting the rocks twice. It serves are range of already hot and waiting for you (for some time) meals at around $20 as well as sandwiches ($7) and other snacks and drinks. It is popular with large coach parties as well as individual travelers. It suffers from a badly designed and managed queuing system for food and drinks whereby food gets served immediately and your drinks (typically $5 each) can take some while to catch up and your hot drinks can be very cool when they finally arrive. Despite this, the quality of the cooling drinks is very good, that of the food is less so.
