“Not bad steak in an old ship.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013

Had an ok steak(had to remember where I was.Southeast Asia not renouned for Aussie style steaks) Staff were a bit shyish and english not so great. We ate here because we were all curried and noodled out and it was nice to have some fresh and well cooked veggies. the place is huge so it felt a bit strange with only six people in it.

“A Fun and Quirky Western Restaurant in Historic Georgetown, Penang”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2013

My customer and I dined at The Ship in late April 2013. The location is right in central historic Georgetown; a short walk from the Oriental Hotel. Parking on the street was easy. The cuisine is western-steakhouse style, and they do a very good job at it. The room is large and decorated in a nautical theme; all of the staff wear sailor suits. Service was prompt. The wine list is abbreviated but nonetheless we found a nice Shiraz from Australia that suited the lamb and steaks. Compared the the hundreds of local chinese, indian, malaysian and "fusion" restaurants in the area, the dedication of The Ship to simply serving good steaks was a delight. Prices are reasonable. I'll be going back.
