We stayed here as I had one night free stay. Entrance and lobby were nice. Food at the restaurant next to the pool was good and reasonably priced for a hotel restaurant. Try the hor fun and prawn noodle. Service was good at the restaurant and front desk.
We had a free upgrade to a deluxe room on level 4, which was recommended by the front desk as opposed to a junior suite. Room was very spacious with a balcony with an unblocked fantastic sea & beach view. The beach and small garden were pretty. But swimming there is not encouraged cos of jellyfish.
The pool was nice with a sea view.
There are a few eateries nearby. The Korean restaurant opp the hotel is nice and run by a friendly Korean family.
On the negative side, the room furniture, carpet, bathroom etc were very worn out. Generally the hotel is very old & run down and needs some serious renovation. Not what I'd expect fr a Copthrone hotel. Hotel is also far from attractions like the historic centre. But buses are available, so are taxis which would cost around RM15-30 per trip. Taxi from/to airport costs ard RM55.
The butterfly farm and toy museum were very good for a visit esp with kids. The Gurney plaza food centre has nice food but is extremely crowded.
