This is the sort of bright, smallish Shopping Mall (Gurney Plaza), eatery that is normally not worth saying much about and not the sort of place that deserves a review, except for one important fact. The food is really rather good!
Yesterday, we had many of the same items at E&O. Let's take the items one by one and compare with E&O:
Sambal Kang Kong with King Prawns. The prawns were fresh and tasty. E&O's appeared to be cooked from frozen.
Nyonya Curry Chicken. Very good (no equivalent at E&O)
Stir Fried Nyonya Squid. Excellent. Fresh and tasty. E&O's were tasteless.
Sambal Ikan Billis Otak Beancurd. Outstanding. Wish I knew how they did that. E&O had nothing like this.
Chicken Satay. Tasty and freshly made. Equally as good as the E&O offering.
Melaka Nyonya Cendol. The ice was melting fast when it arrived and the dish was close to being a disaster. However. the flavour was spot on and the whole dish had more zing that the E&O ice kachang.
Admittedly, the restaurant is a bit cramped, the little nyonya stools a mite small and uncomfortable and the service is cold and indifferent. Judging by how crowded the restaurant was in mid afternoon it appears others are willing to overlook those bad points just to enjoy the food. E&O has much more class. Little Nyonya has taste.
All the above, with two honey lemon teas for 31 RM per head. Half the cost of the E&O Sunday Buffet - twice the food value.
[Incidentally T.A. Reviewer, my review of E&O yesterday was supposed to be at "3" but appeared to default to "5" after I had edited a couple of times. Please correct, if possible]
