Booked a holiday through our local agent for 14 nights pluse another 4 thrown in for free just before the tsunami struck. Was a little nervous as this hotel got slightly flooded in the pool, dining, bar and reception area during the disaster.

Arrived and you would never have known anything about it. We used this as a base and travelled around Malaysia using the local airports, KL, Penang, Langkawi etc. We left most of our belongings (travelled light) in the hotel room and the hotel staff locked our room during our days away so nobody had access.

The staff were excellent, ordering taxis, booking flights, ferries etc.
Food was excellent, very tasty. The weekly buffet put on was not quite so good. Pool area fantastic and directly on beach. It has a speedo only policy (nut huggers) in the pool that had me worried, but I wore my shorts and nobody said a word. Don't think of swimming in the sea though, jelly fish warnings and not sure on the water quality.
Room was spacious but basic and on the 25 th floor from memory so not for the faint hearted when standing on the balcony.

We stayed here back in '94 and it was a great hotel then.
Okay now it is a tiny bit tired, but the service excellent, the staff are wonderful and the food very tasty and plentiful.
Local restuarants a short walk away, which is very handy for eating out, to help save some costs.
The hotel caters for all cultures and there is a certain friendliness here amongst the customers and staff that is rarely found elsewhere.
We will certainly be staying here again as we now have friends amongst the staff.

We stayed in paradise 3 days 2 nights. The hotel is lovely with a nice staff. every balcon in every room sight to beach very beatifull.
The restaurant is very big but the breakfast every morning is not so good :P .
The pool is nice and we can swim, paraselling etc in beach .
We have a nice weekend in Penang.
The hotel is near with hawker center, they have tranportation to hawker center with given time. We can go to komtar, gurney drive and that price more cheap than with taxi, but the transportation always full so must reservation more earlier before we go.

We booked online, and were well rewarded. Although as usual, wotif booking had not been recieved by the time we cheacked in, we were upgraded to a high floor with great views!

The hallways smelt a bit mildewy, but the room was clean with lots of locks and a decent shower head.

The air con borke during the second night, but nothing that could make the stay awful.

Staff a little slow to make drinks in resturants and bars, but food was really nice and reasonable price for hotel food.

Little out of the way from Georgetown, but also made it a bit quieter which was nice to relax!
