I've visited this bar twice, once I sat inside, this was last year, very quiet but pleasant. This year I sat outside on the terrace, it was hot but a great spot, lovely sea views & the best way to describe the experience is 'civilised'. It was very busy inside & there were only 3 staff I think, so service was slow & not very good for a 5 * hotel, however, it didn't bother me that much, they weren't rude just busy and not focused. I ordered Nasi Goreng, it was very average, once again, I wasn't too bothered as I think as an experience it's worth visiting the hotel to enjoy the history of it. I had a good look around the lobby area & particularly enjoyed the guestbook where guests are encouraged to write their previous experiences of visiting the E&O, so some lovely personal stories to read there. Maybe just a drink at Farquhars next time?
