“Great landlady”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

We went with friends for two nights. Friday was steak night the steaks were good the locals are extremely friendly in the bar.
The second night was a Saturday and rather quiet but the landlady organised one of the locals to bring his karaoke machine. He drove 20 miles to fetch it for our entertainment . We enjoyed ourselves and never stopped laughing.
The staff are friendly on the whole . The owner Mario is not as friendly which is the only low point.
Room 2 is bright & airy.

Room Tip: Room 2 bright and airy

We stayed for one night. We had a big spacious room and staff were very helpful - they set up an additional bed with minimum fuss. Set in a quiet and friendly village. Breakfast was delicious, and we would definitely recommend.

I booked and received confirmation through LateRooms. On calling to book a table for dinner I was told they had no record of my booking and were double booked in any event. Lucky I called or it would have been a wasted trip.

Having been offered accommodation via email and then confirming the booking via email and by direct telephone, we arrived on the Saturday at 18.30 to be informed that they had double booked with no accommodation available. No explanation was forthcoming with no sincere apologies. To add salt to the wounds, they then recommended alternative accommodation in Dorchester, some 10 miles away which we found to be tatty and unsuitable.
Book at your peril!

We loved our stay at The Piddle Inn. It was an unexpected stop in our rapid sightseeing tour of England, due to rain, and we were warmly welcomed by the staff and other customers. We had a lovely afternoon/evening there. The dinner was OK but the breakfast was awesome. We stayed in room 1 which was very large and comfortable. We would definitely stay again and recommend this Inn to our family and friends.

A gem of a traditional inn. We stayed in room 2 which was clean, comfortable and well equipped. With views over the river Piddle (don't get too excited you could just about jump over it at this stage in its journey) to the fields & farm beyond this inn maintains the ambience of a country local. Service is attentive and the food very well cooked by the chef/owner, whose menue displays his Italian origins. Prices are competative, house wine £12 a bottle, but we went for something a little more expensive which was very good value.

This was our second visit but I'm sure it wont be our last.

We booked the larger room on the 3 nights for the price of 2 offer, and took the dog, who was also kindly treated to the same offer - I wasn't expecting that, so thank you!
The room was lovely, with views of farmland and the hills, and horses splashing through the Piddle river outside the window. Nice bathroom - bath with shower over, toilet and basin, and all nice and clean. The only improvement I would suggest is a nice white fluffy bathmat instead of the wooden rack which I think would be more hygienic. The heating went off at night, so there was a little electric convector heater to keep off the chill which was OK, but the heat from that didn't reach the bathroom so in the morning, before the heat came on, the tiled floor was pretty chilly (hence also the request for a bathmat!)
Breakfast was good and plenty of it with cereals, toast, full English etc.
The B&B side of this establishment was very good, and I would recommend it.

Room Tip: The big room is nice and roomy with lovely views.
