“Worst hotel ever.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013 via mobile

rooms are really old, furniture smells badly, bsthroom stinkly, mouldy so i was si disgusted i did not even take a showern
Breakfast is a joke! One type of cheese, sausage that looks really artificial and jam.
Do not even try coffee. Its a shame that in arabic country you cannot enjoy good qulity coffee as you get some paper filtered liquid shame shame shame.
I will not even mention the service level as staff is really rude and their english is efficielnt enough to take your money but definitely not efficient to help you.

Out of my dreams...i was visited Tangier for a weekend as a passing through tourist,.from a long journey from Andalusia Spain.
I didn't wait to see all this beauty,
the old Town
the Kashbah citadella,
the amazing architecture
the colors of Morocco
but ,mostly,....
the hospitality of this hotel,
the gentle and smiley stuff ,even from the reception desk although i declare my stay(it was just for 2 nights)...
they helped me in any way i asked for.thanks a lot!and congratulations of course!
not to mention the breathtaking view from the verandas.....
Is one of the hotels all over the world that "je reviens"!!!

My wife and I just spent 10 nights at this hotel. The place was spotless with cleaning staff active all day. The reception staff were very friendly and attentive to our every need, as were most of the waiters, so can't praise this place highly enough. The bedrooms are very large, with terraces or balconies overlooking the gardens and river. Bathrooms equally large, spacious and clean.
The minibar prices are very reasonable for a hotel of this type, but the bar and restaurant prices are high. Fairly good choice for buffet breakfast, but some items on the A La Carte Menu continually not available. Large outdoor pool (unheated) and a smaller childrens pool. The hotel is about a ten minute walk from the Medina, and about 15 minutes from the Marina where there are several cafe style restaurants. The tram stop is also about 10 minutes walk away, from where trams cross the river into central Rabat.
We hired a car, and the hotel has extensive free parking, but the drivers are quite potty, hooting like mad even before the traffic lights go green. Pedestrians have a suicide wish, just walking out in front of cars without looking. Motor cyclists and scooter riders are even worse, weaving in and out between the cars and ignorinjg traffic signs and lights! We even saw people cycling the wrong way down motorways, or just crossing both carriagways even with young children. I am told that over 4000 people are killed on the roads of Morocco every year, but surprised the figure is not even higher! Almost everybody speaks French, some with a few words of English, and we found the Police particularly friendly and helpful, even though we twice inadvertantly went part way the wrong way down one way streets! Shopping is poor, with nothing much available by way of crafts or souvenirs.

Room Tip: First floor, overlooking the pool. The hotel has no lift.

I happened to be in Dawliz during Ramadan, which may affect my opinion. The hotel was empty during the day and the service was not very motivated. I think this was because of Ramadan. I liked the open-air pool which was very well maintained.
The big problem for me was very noisy party which occured every night in a near-by bar, very late.

Le Dawliz is a hotel which can be a much more better hotel, as it has a beautifull architecture, big rooms, big and clean pool, and amazing view. However the staff don't correspond to the level of the hotel. They are slow, not trying to satisfy the guests, besides the breakfast is quite poor. But sometimes if you are in Morocco, and enjoythe time, maybe you will not pay attention to the hotel so much:)

I stayed here because my colleague wanted a hotel with a pool. The garden/restaurant area overlooking the river is nice, but that is the only thing good about this place. Don't stay here - just come for a drink by the pool.

The first room I got smelled mildewy and the air conditioning didn't work well. I moved to another room which was better, but the shower head in the tub only reaches to my stomach. Therefore, you have to swat in the tub to wash your hair.

The restaurant food is not bad but pricey and the wait staff is really slow. The front desk people are not friendly at all. Internet is really expensive, too (almost $20 for 24 hours). Breakfast features an unexciting buffet with horrible coffee. There was no hotel lobby - it was all under construction.

There is a lounge/tea room above the hotel that features live music every night until about 11pm. I can hear them in my room but it's not that loud. On my last night, the district authority said it would turn off the water for 24 hours. Luckily it was only 12 hours.

I learned the hard way how inconvenient the location of Le Dawliz is when I was on the other side of the river (in Agdal) and needed a taxi back to the hotel. The regular taxis are not allowed to take you so you have to get a white taxi which is not easy to catch from the street. I had to go to a hotel and ask them to call one for me. It was very expensive too for a 15 minute ride.

I usually stay at the Sofitel Diwan - it's expensive but at least you get what you paid for.
