“Paradise in the medina”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2013

This is the best Riad I've stayed in Morocco so far. The staff is very nice and professional, and there is several people with whom you can communicate in English (wich in Moroco is defenetely a plus). The rooms are just beautiful and very comfortable, all in a 100% Moroccan style. There are two very nice chill out areas, both inside and outside, at the rooftop.

The Riad is also located in a very nice medina, quieter than the more touristic medina of Rabat (just on the other side of the river), but no less beautiful and interesting. The owners of the Riad, Jan (or Jane, I didn't figure that out) and Rachid are amongst the nicest people I've found in Morocco. The last time I stayed there (July/August 2012) they received me and helped me in several occasions way after I left the Riad (after renting a room in an apartment).

Really, you won't find a better place to stay in the Rabat Area.

We hired a car after landing in Casablanca and knew we didn't want to stay in Casa so we were fortunate to find Sale and The Repose! With Jan's directions and someone to meet us at the parking spot, it was so easy! Jan gave us info from how to take a rowboat over to Rabat to manoeuvring around the souk using her detailed map.
Sale was our 1st medina so it was a fabulous introduction to Morocco.
Our welcome glass of mint tea, accompanied by homemade goodies, set the scene for our stay at this riad. The rooms were absolutely lovely, breakfasts on the roof terasse were superb, dinners were delicious, service impeccable and the hosts so friendly!
We can see why the Repose is #1

In a whirlwind swing through Morocco, we chose to stay at the Repose during our stop in the Rabat area, and were extremely pleased to have chosen The Repose. This riad set the bar so high, we were looking to match it for the rest of our trip. The lodging and service were top-notch, and the proprietors - Jan and Rachid - were extremely helpful in helping us locate the riad, arranging local transportation logistics, and pointing us in the right direction to get the most out of stay in the area. Sale is conveniently connected by tram, buses, taxi, and regular train service (ONCF) to Rabat and the rest of the country, and its location made it easy for us to visit the medina in both Sale and Rabat. In doing so, we even got to cross the narrow waterway between the two medinas by canoe the way it has been done by the locals for a few centuries. The Repose is also less than a 10-minute walk from a beautiful stretch of the Atlantic beach, so we had another bonus adventure from our stay.

Room Tip: All the rooms we saw in this small riad were all tastefully done, and everything worked.

On a business trip to Rabat I thought I would try something a bit unconventional so I chose the repose. I was swayed by the number one ranking on trip advisor but I wasn't sure how it would really stack up and whether the location in Sale would be an inconvenience.

In short, this riad is a real gem. Quaint rooms, a five star kitchen, full power and heated shower, and Internet. And for 55 euro a night, I thought, are you kidding me? There had to be a catch? Well, none that i could find. The owners and staff are fantastic and this place is clean as a whistle. I thought being in Sale would be a hassle. To the contrary you get an authentic medina experience and the repose staff will quickly arrange a five dollar taxi to Rabat.

those who travel to morocco know that good affordable hotels are tough to come by. You tend to get awful to mediocre mid range places or overpriced five stars that disappoint.

The repose delivered at all levels.

Room Tip: Blue and mango suites are the way to go

You come for work or for pleasure, this Riad is the best choice for true dreamlike experience. Warm and colorful, every room in individual style, delicious and rich breakfasts and meals, wonderful roof terrase, charming dining and living room, but above all attentive, kind and amazing hosts! Jan and Rachid have made my stay unforgettable. You can even buy presents for very convenient prices, including tasty home-made almond cookies. There are books to read and you can even ask for a taxi driver, who is kind and always in time. I only wish to come back soon!

It doesn't get better than this. We are not used to luxury travelling, but this was such a great choice!
Our room was stunning and immaculately clean. Breakfast and dinner were truly impressive, too.
We felt very welcomed and contended. Every detail of our stay was amazing.
Jan and Rachid are great hosts and such kind and warm hearted people! Thank you so much for making us feel so comfortable.
We absolutely loved Sale, walking through the medina at sunset was truly magical. This is the real Morocco!!!

Jan has done a wonderful job in putting together a truly special riad in the heart of Sale. While we were skeptical to stay in Sale, it turned out to be a great decision. It's a great opportunity to explore an authentic Moroccan city. It was very safe and friendly. There is a good chance you'll be the only tourist in the whole city. This city was a true highlight of our trip. The service that Jan and her staff provided were second to none. We were greeted like royalty upon arrival and it didn't just stop there. The room we stayed in was the Mango room. It was beautifully decorated, quiet and spacious. We ate one meal at the Repose, cooked by Jan's husband. Always vegetarian, and amazing! And that's coming from my carnivorous husband. The are a lot of services offered at the Repose. Jan provided us with a booklet of recommendations in Sale and services she could book for you with the locals, such as henna, massage, etc.. She is big on supporting the locals and sharing the wealth, which is so awesome. Our stay in Sale at the Repose was a true highlight of our stay in Morocco. One we'll never forget.

Room Tip: Mango Room was perfect.
