Having been to Zante many times since 1989! this was our first time to the Zakantha beach, however the extended family we came with had stayed here on many occasions. This is my honest summary....
Rooms- Our room was small because we had a cot and toddler camp bed in it!! we also had a view onto the side out to a wall :-( However it was clean and recently refurbished. Perfectly comfortable and I would say a high standard for Greece. (I guess its just luck as my parents had a view across to Zante town beautiful!) For a family room it was tiny and the bathrooms are really small and dark. Again clean and the ladies do a sparkling job... just on the small side! (no tea or coffee in room or iron etc and you have to pay on top for safe I think it was about E40 for 2 weeks, Fridge E19 Euros for two weeks and Air Con E7 per day...it all adds up!!- I wouldn’t want a front road room- ask for a Zante side view if you can!! Or upgrade to the front!!
Hotel- Breakfast- I thought it was actually very good, we are not talking 5* all inclusive here! However, I thought great compared to my usual Zante breakfasts a selection of breads, pastries, eggs, sausages, bacon, toast, and cereal...nice setting for breakfast very clean and more than I have experienced in a Greek hotel before!
The bar is lovely, a little bit more pricey but you would expect that in a hotel bar! Monica is a friend of my parents who have frequented the hotel for the last 10 years and she makes everyone very welcome! Made a special fuss of our daughter.
The pool- we only used it once as we are beach lovers but looked very nice-( it was freezing!!)
there is a snack bar but I can't comment as we didn’t use it! There is also a pool table and lobby area with Internet/computer and phones etc.
The beach- I think the beach in Argassi is very "un Inviting" dirty and small- I certainly wouldn’t spend the day here!!We hired a car through faros was about E350 for 2 weeks we use them every time and they offer a fab service dropping car off and collecting from hotel and can book before you go. We then go to some of the islands beautiful beaches every day!! We especially love Spilla beach!
the location- the hotel is in a great location- walk able into town but not right in the noisy hub! Perfect for us- The best places to eat were peppermint -fabulous food and service and Ethnic less ambience but great meat!!, We didn’t like stars it has no atmosphere and they did try and diddle us with change...(maybe we were unlucky but we didn’t go back!) Also love the Target bar- really worth a trip for the view- they will come and collect you for free in their bus but we liked the walk..burn off some saganaki!! Nicos will make you very welcome and the Kleftiko is fab!
The staff- we found all the staff at the hotel to be very friendly especially Spiradoula on reception and of course the lovely Monica, all the cleaning ladies also made a fuss of our children and my 3yr old enjoyed her morning "kalemera!"
Would I go back yes, it was a nice hotel and compared to others we have stayed at Family Inn, Comodore, Caterina Palace it is a nicer hotel with regards to setting, lobby and breakfast but you pay more for this...Therefore for us witha young family was it worth the difference in cost..probably not- I suspect next time we would save money and go back to the Caterina Palace hotel. As the room for us was just much too small!!
However if you are going here you will have a lovely time and will not be disappointed!
