“Loved waking up to the sound of the sea”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2013

Had a fantastic week at this lovely hotel. Great value, clean, spacious with a balcony and sea view. Perfect. The bed was enormous and really comfy, not slept so well in a long while. Hotel is really peaceful, in a great location for the few bars/cafes/restaurants in town. We were s/c as we're veggie and we prefer to eat out at different places. Los Cancajos like the other couple of resorts on the west coast is very quiet but we totally relaxed and along with a night in Santa Cruz we found enough going on for us. We hired a car for the week and were glad to be able to go where we fancied, when we fancied rather than booking a trip or relying on the bus. The roads are windy but it's very quiet and driving is so much easier than somewhere like Tenerife. We would've loved more time on this wonderful unspoilt island (plenty more walks to go at!) and hopefully we'll return and if so, we'll stay at Las Olas again.

Room Tip: ask for a high floor room for good sea views, although most rooms looked to have a sea view.

Good apartment/hotel. Comfortable bed. Pool was nice. Area very quiet, so if you want some quiet time this is ideal. Not loads of restaurants to choose from, but not tacky and touristy because of this. We ended up eating in 2 restaurants twice on a 7 day holiday. We went on an organised hike which was good for seeing the island. We went into Santa Cruz but not much going on there. E went to the west of the island as well. The only negative thing I would say I'd the self catering facilities are perhaps a touch basic. No kettle or toaster!

Would definitely recommend this hotel. Would go back.

We spent a wonderful week in La Palma and Las Olas was the perfect base. The hotel has six blocks and we were in the La Gomera block on the first floor. Although the Tenerife block was in front of us, the building was low down enough that we enjoyed an uninterrupted seaview, sometime you could see El Teide on Tenerife. We also had a great view of the reception building and the pool so that you could see if it was busy, which it never was. Even mid-afternoon on a warm, sunny day there were plenty of sunloungers available. The pool area is beautiful. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and the food was great. Loads of choice from bacon and eggs to cold meats, cheese and a selection of delicious bread, yoghurts, fresh juicy fruit and sweet pastries - plus the coffee was really good.

We dined there twice in the evening at €10 per person. There is no menu outside before you go in so you don't know what you're going to get. As it's a buffet, however, there is plenty of choice. We enjoyed both of our evening meals. Beer is €2.50 a pint and a bottle of local red wine, which is excellent, just €10.00.

Our room was a good size with a well-equipped kitchenette with microwave and hob plus fridge freezer. Cutlery, crockery, pots, corkscrew provided. Washing-up liquid but no tea towels. Each balcony has an extendable washing line too which is useful.

Staff were great, especially on reception - extremely helpful and courteous. Restaurant and bar staff very good too and they looked happy.

We are thinking of returning to beautiful La Palma again next year and Las Olas will be our accommodation of choice.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony. Tenerife and La Gomera blocks have the best seaviews. The ones with te...

Feb - March 3013 - 28 days - walking alternate days - enjoying sunshine, swimming etc. What a stroke of genius to pick this Aparthotel - very difficult to choose off brochures, google etc. Location - perfect. Sunny all the time - we used buses and hired a car for last week, nowhere else on the island was weather as good. Tazacorte and West of Island not, repeat not as good as los Cancajos. 4km walk along sea side to Santa Cruz (capital), old buildings, good walks, nowhere else on island as interesting. Walk or 6mins in the bus from hotel. Hotel location - 9/10, just off flight path from airport 5 - 8 planes 8.0am - 9pm, no bother. Rooms great, large bedroom, sitting room with balcony, kitchenette plus bathroom - very quiet. Food 6/10, fed up with overcooked vegetables every night, selection of meat or fish each night, no lamb but instead rabbit (who eats rabbit?). Good choice of reasonable restaurants in Las Canajos if change wanted. Best beaches on the island in Los Canajos. All apartment blocks look towards the sea over the swimming pools and gardens, sun on your balcony all morning. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the island - if walking, don't forget your poles, it's a very steep island!

Room Tip: Send e-mail asking for a quiet room, a balcony and a sea view.

Lovely spacious clean room, polite helpful staff. Didn't eat the breakfast so can't comment on it but dinner was good value for money with a choice of fish and meat everyday and plenty of fresh salad. The only downside was the noise, the tiled floors meant we could hear people walking about above us and conversations through the wall which meant we didn't sleep that well.

First time here after reading previous reviews in trip advisor.otel very good ,good staff .Breakfast good selection.Never tried evening food not much choice. The hotel was clean and tidy and although the rooms looked clean and tidy the mirror and the TV needed cleaning[My wife said].The entertainment was patchy mainly Duos with computers[I am a musician so am a bit picky]
The pool was freezing about the same temerature as the sea[cold this time of year[[March 2013]although the weather was very good.21/24 d all week[-1 in UK]
Wifi was patchy and only worked in reception not in our room.
This was a self catering apartment and consisted of a bedroom small kitchen area and a lounge with small TV.No kettle but this could be obtained from reception for a small deposit.Likewise Iron. There is a safe deposit box in the bedroom which you had to pay for for the week. There is no ATM in the hotel but there is one in the next hotel about 10 min.walk down the road. The wife says the Beds were a bit hard, but I found them ok.You cannot please everybody.Staff were very friendly and helpful .Some of them spoke 3 or 4 lanuages. All in all a very good weeks

Room Tip: first floor sea view.
