“Comfort on "High"”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

To be honest the Hotel is generally pretty basic, but is kept extremely clean by the cheerful housemaids, with fresh towels four times a week and beds changed regularily. The kitchens are limited with just two rings and no oven, there is however a microwave and coffee maker. The grounds are beautifully kept, with floral walkways that are bright and shiningly clean, as is the pool area.
The Hotel is on a hill and does have a lot of steps to get to the rooms, we were actually in room 602 and both pretty fit, but carrying a 20kg bag up 74 steps was no fun in 30 degrees. All in all, we enjoyed our stay, this accomodation is good value for money and you could pay a lot more for a lot worse as we certainly have!
If you want to look around, there is a bus stop 100 yards down the hill from the hotel which takes you all the way to Playa de las Americas if you want or just into the centre of Los Cristianos.
Further down, on the opposite side of the road is a useful supermarket, and right beside this is a Spanish Cafe (Espresso Point) with fantastic coffee and free internet access, a great place to have a break from the pool sunbed. Beyond this on the same side is a strip of bars and restaurants with some great entertainment.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on one of the lower blocks, with a decent sized balcony.

The accommodation is excellent but is much too far from beach.
The apartments are very clean well equipped and the staff are all very helpful, such a
Shame it location is wrong (a long way from main front and restaurants.)
The hill is a killer in hot weather. My wife and I are fell walkers but the hill in heat is much too much for us a good 15 minutes brisk walk up a very long hill in hot weather is not good. The complex is set in the hill side with many steps to apartments; there were no shop on site and only a bar/snack bar which closed at 18:00hrs so unless you intend to cook every night it’s down the hill to eat.

Just returned from a 7 night break at Oasis Mango Apartments in Tenerife.

Staying in Apartment 607. The 6th block is located at the top of the complex the stairs proved tiresome in the Tenerife heat especially with someone with a young child.

The apartment was clean, spacious with modern facilities and a flat screen tv. The walls are thin however and sleep proved diffcult due to various neighbours choosing to enjoy the nightlife until the wee hours.

The location is a bit out of the way and although I read about "Cardiac Hill" before hand I did find it more difficult than I thought I would. Walking at an average pace it will take you 20-25 minutes to get to the beach front and at least an hour and ten minutes to reach Las Americas should you wish to head that way.

The Apartments are located close to Los Cristianos Bus Station (5-10 minutes walk) which is great if you want to see the rest of the island which we decided to do and a large Super Dino is in the same area and should be used rather than the somewhat dearer supermarket which is located a little nearer to the complex.

The pool area was adequate if a little small for the complex its self. The pool is salt water which may put some children off. The area is cleaned I presume early, before guests arrived however by mid afternoon we found the pool area to be covered in chicken nuggets, empty bottles and pizza boxes due to some of the guests having no respect for the cleaners, staff or other guests.

My recommendation would be no food around the pool side with supervision from staff.

I cannot comment on the food as we did not eat at the complex and did not appear to see the restaurant open in the evenings. I am not sure if this is perhaps a seasonal thing?

Overall for the price we paid the complex was adequate however taken everything in to account I would not return.

Room Tip: Request a lower floor if possible

5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

Me and the partner have just got back for a weeks holiday at The Oasis Mango Apartments and I can honestly say that they are the best apartments I have stopped in.

I've traveled to many places over the years and stayed in 4* and 5* hotels, apartments and hostels and this place ranks at the very top.

We stayed in Room 609 from the 3rd April - 10th April. The room is below 610 so the view isn't anything spectacular (we had a good view of the solar panels) but this didn't really bother us as we only used the balcony to dry our beach towels. If you desperately need a view then request one.

The room was very spacious with a bedroom with two single beds, living room with joining kitchen and obviously a bathroom which also had a shower. The shower was great and powerful and provided a welcoming wash after a full day of walking, drinking, eating and exploring. It did take a little working out as it worked off the taps - we had to turn the tap to the hot side, let the water get hot then turn it to the middle for a good temp. Not too hot that it'll burn your face off, and not too cold that it would freeze your nipples off.

The apartment complex is like many people have said on a hill - I don't think "Death Hill" is quite the fitting description as it isn't that bad. Don't get me wrong, it is steeper than the rest of the hill but not by much. I saw many a family with push chairs walking up it and a fair few older people that took a steady stroll up it with no problems. If you do have trouble walking then I'd suggest you invest the extra coin in a hotel closer to the front as these apartments are a steady 10-15 minute walk from the beach and a good majority of the restaurants, bars and shops.

The pool is small but it's nice and there are plenty of sunbeds so no need to reserve. The pool isn't heated so it can be quite cold but once you're in it's fine. Just dive in and have a swim. Don't fart about on the side testing the water cos' it will just feel colder, just dive in (that's if you don't have any heart issues) and enjoy it!

The complex does have a restaurant on site - we didn't go but we looked at the menu and the prices are decent and they have a good selection of food.

I would like to say that what made this hotel stand out from the rest is the staff. They have a few members of staff working on reception that rotate shifts and each one of them were excellent. They were so helpful and friendly and spoke excellent English.

Also the cleaners - such characters and very helpful and always greeted you with a smile and a friendly good morning. They didn't speak English but they understood me when I told them we had cockroaches.

We did mention this to the reception who told the cleaners but we got back from breakfast before the cleaners got to our room. Anyway a cockroach crawled down our curtains so I told one of the cleaners and she came in screaming, equipped with a brush and beat the life out of them and cleaned them up. She went around the entire apartment and checked everywhere screaming and shouting at them in Spanish. The other cleaners even came into the room to have a good laugh while this crazy cleaner ran around the apartment with a brush. It had us all in hysterics.

Please don't let the cockroaches alarm you though as we only had them during our first night and they didn't come back. The advice we had was to not have your doors or windows open from about 10am to about 5pm as this is when they try to find cooler places to stop, but we didn't see any roaming about the complex and once they were removed from our room we didn't see anymore. But if you do find them just mention it to the receptionist or cleaners and they will sort them out for you.

I've given the Oasis Mango Apartments a 5/5 as I do think that all the pros outweigh the cons of it being on a hill and it being a good walk away from the main strip. The complex has only steps to get to the rooms but if you do struggle with steps they do have rooms on the 'ground floor' where there are no steps.

It's a quiet complex and very ideal for a base to chill out with your partner, or family. If you don't mind a walk it isn't far from the beach and if you don't want to face the hill its about 3/4 euros back to base in a taxi.

An excellent complex which made for a brilliant holiday.

Room Tip: If you want a view request a top apartment - also if you can't live without the internet you can...

Just back from a week in the Oasis Mango apartments room 512 - good views with midday/afternoon sun. Not one cockroach in sight !!! Very relaxing and comfortable all round. Polite, helpful staff on reception and snack bar, didn't use the restaurant. Plenty of sunbeds and nice atmosphere round the pool, don't think pool was heated but it wasn't too cold. Complex is up a hill but manageable if you take your time. Though the apartment steps are a bit tiring if you have your luggage/shopping to carry, if you go to the top gate from the road there aren't so many steps if you are on level 5/6. Will certainly go back

Room Tip: levels 1 - 6 the higher levels get a better view - sea in the distance but there are no lifts steps...

Just returned from a week at the Oasis Mango - we were very pleased with our accommodation. Although there was only two of us - we were given an apartment with a separate twin bedroom along with the usual bed settees in the lounge and had a kitchen and balcony with a great view over the town to the sea. The accommodation was large - spotlessly clean and had everything you needed for self catering - (not that we did, apart from tea and toast some mornings).
The pool area has plenty of sunbeds and there is a snack bar. The only down side was that at the time we went, the restaurant only catered for dinner from 18.00-19.30 in the evenings, however we weren't bothered about this because we went out to dinner nearly every night.
The Dialprix supermarket is about an 8 min walk away down the hill and has everything you need and isn't too expensive.
The apartments are quite a walk away from the beach front area - up a hill with various bars and restaurants en route. Charleys bar/restaurant is very good nearer the bottom of the hill. The Da vi da and Locana Italian restaurant are also excellent. There is so much competition for custom these days that all the restaurants and bars are offering cheaper drinks and meal deals and there is so much choice - prices today are cheaper than 10 years ago!
Charlottes bar and the Giraldilla on the front overlooking the sea/harbour are excellent and very friendly with great prices and food.
Would say that all in all - excellent - but if you do suffer with leg/back problems it is a bit of a walk - but taxis are cheap or at least it keeps you fit and you can wear off all the food you've just eaten!

Room Tip: Try and get a higher room for a sea view- but there are steps to climb for this.
