“Basic & dated but nicely laid out and not bad location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

Just returned from a week at this hotel/appartment (not sure what to class it as) We booked privately and so we by-passed the reception as we collected keys from the Airport (bit weird!)
We stayed in the Amarillo (I think??) block. We had room 19 which was on the 3rd floor. Bit of a climb with suitcases as no lift (couple in our late 20's and inlaws)
Room wasnt bad. Typically tiles in white everywhere. It was a privately owned appt (most of the rooms here are) It was a 2bed appt. 1 roomo downstairs and 1 room upstairs with a balcony. The spiral staircase was a bit of a pain as quite thin so getting suitcases up/down was a bit of a squeeze. Beds were dated and not the best (saw back each morning). Kitchen was pretty basic - only used the sink and fridge as so cheap to eat out. Kitchen was very small & thin and was part of the walk-through from the front door to the lounge area. Had an oven (but didnt use)
Lounge was basic old leather sofas. TV was very old (I know you shouldnt go for TV, but always nice to have). Old-style TV. Had a freeview box but didnt work so had to manually tune the TV and gave us standard english 1-5 channels. Had 2 balconies. One from lounge and 1 upstairs bedroom. Both could fit a couple of sun loungers on. Not the best views (we didnt have a pool view room) For some reason, the outside area (balcony) would always smell of badly fried food...presume from the english pubs around??? so we didnt use the (old) included washing machine as the clothes would smell if we left them outside to dry.
Pool - 2 pools around the hotel. Good sizes. They were very quiet when we went (November) so no probs getting lounger. Good sun-bathing areas. Pool didnt seem to be heated. Could have been nicer if was heated. Pools were good size. We tried using the larger pool i nsister hotel Tenerife Sur but we were told we couldnt as we privately booked. (Their pool was nice with a bar and very comfy sunbeds)
Wasnt a bad hotel. Only 15min walk to the beach and bars/main restaurants, but there are nice and better hotels in Tenerife. We are used to staying in Adaje, and preferred that resort to stay in over Los Christianos. Prob wouldnt stay here again to be honest

We had a two bedroom, two floor apartment that was basic but spacious. It was on the top floor (no lifts) in the 'outer' ring of houses. It had one terrace facing the street with sun in the morning and one roof terrace (without view) with afternoon sun. The bedrooms where towards the small alley between the houses were people made a lot of noise talking and dragging suitcases at all times during the night.
There are two good pool areas with several different sections and a cafeteria on the premises. The Los Cristianos beach is the closest within walking distance although I recommend the Las Vistas beach which is a little further away.

Room Tip: Rooms in the 'inner' ring have terraces with views of the pool and sometimes beyond.

We made a choice to stay at these self catering apartments for a second time in 12 months. These apartments are very well situated 5 mins walk to the bus stops, 10 mins walk to the beach front, 5+10 mins walks to the supermarkets, restaurants as close as over the road in Tenerife sur apt - recommended. Apartments are basic and clean, with great sized balconies, you can choose from pool view or road view - depending on what you require. Recommend 1st floor apt as you need to walk up and down stairs to the apt (there is no lift) - There is a choice of pools. Apartments are only three storey. Although you need to get good directions from the reception when you arrive to ensure you go in the right direction to your apt -once you found it you are fine.
Recommend - buy BONO bus ticket - gives you discounted travel and means you dont have to find change for the payment every time. When you have a few euros left on the BONO you can get remainder transferred to the new BONO you buy or use it for part payment ie BONO and cash.
Reception are very helpful and always willing to chat and help.
We had 3 people sleeping in a 1 bed apt - needed to ask for additional sheets at reception - got them no problem at all.
Cant wait to come back to Tenerife again and will stay at these apts

Room Tip: For a quieter room/apt - ask for a pool view / first floor in Christan Sur apts (over the road is Te...

Pros: the apartments has free wifi and are situated in a nice location with nice tended gardens and very near to the beach approx 10 min walk and local amenities (free bus service to water parks and zoo and local bus services). Cons: apartments are outdated and quite shabby. In the apartment I stayed in (amarillo block) there was no air conditioning apart from two desk fans which was in the living room area and bedroom so the apartment was unbearably hot. The majority of the time was therefore spent outside on the veranda of the apartment. Also we had to spray the bathroom area with insect spray on arrival due to the presence of cockroaches (not nice!) and because of this ate out rather than self-catered. Further, we were located on a top floor apartment so had to lug our suitcases up five flight of concrete steps which was very exhausting and very unsafe as balcony area quite low. These apartments would therefore not be suitable for a family with young kids or elderly people particularly as the bedrooms are located on two different floors and interconnected by a narrow spiral staircase which was not fully secured to the wall so very wobbly. My children wanted to use the swimming pools but I had to deter them from doing so as I noticed that there were no filters in either of the swimming pools in the apartment complex which I found to be quite disgusting since so many people were using the pools and as there was no filtration system didnt know how the pools could be possibly kept clean. We decided to swim in the sea instead. Soon after arriving noticed that someone had tried to break into our apartment as the lock on the veranda door was broken so the door could not be secured. We therefore took all our valuables with us on leaving the apartment to be just on the safe side especially having read reviews that apartments had been broken into and valuables stolen. Unfortunately this put a damper on our holiday so we will not be travelling to Tenerife again...... If you decide to travel to Tenerife I would advise you not to stay in these apartments.

We've just returned from Cristian Sur apartments and I have to say that it was a really good value holiday. We had a two bedroomed apartment and although there was very basic equipment in there, the furniture and bathrooms need updating, it was at least clean. The pools are great, you can't get the kids out. We had a poolside balcony, which I recommend, and also ask for an apartment away from the cafe if you don't want to join in with the social scene there! The beds are comfortable and were changed regularly, I slept with my ear plugs in so I couldn't hear people passing outside, and every night I had a good sleep! We didn't join in the sunbed war in the morning but it was good fun watching people wait for an hour, leave their towels then disappear for the rest of the morning. Just move the towel if you want a sunbed! The reception staff were very helpful to us whenever we needed it. TV controls, fans and safe are all extra costs, but definately hire the safe. Although you need a key to open the door, we were always conscious to double lock it also. Apartments are good location to beaches and lots of restaurants and supermarkets, try The Orange Tree for a 2.95 breakfast, you can't beat it. Overall we always felt very safe.

Room Tip: Ask for a poolside view room as the noise from the road could become noisy at night. I would return...
