“Best of the bunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012

Thanks Arona Gran for a fabulous hotel experience. Food is simply the best ever in Tenerife. Lots of choice and more importantly of high quality throughout. Clean spacious rooms, sheets changed daily!. Staff are so friendly. Waiters are excellent, thanks Olivia and Juan. Celebrated my birthday and free bubbly. Only niggle was a warm fridge! Will be back soon.

Room Tip: View in 363 partly obscured by large palm trees..didn't bother me though.

“Clean hotel with excellent staff but a little dull.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012 via mobile

Here on our final full day before flying home to a very cold London. This hotel is perfect if you want a very quiet peaceful holiday in Los Cristianos. I'll start with the positives first.
Very clean hotel with a lovely communal lobby and great pool area. Good quality buffet dining with an exceptional breakfast that is better than the dinner options (Isobela who welcomes you with a smile at the restaurant entrance is a joy) low key friendly staff and a well organised service system that means you never have to keep cash on you as bar tabs etc are put on your room card for payment at checkout time.

Now the negatives.
Hotel is placed on the far end of the promenade in a quiet area with not much going on localy. You can walk along the promenade to the harbour area that has the most bars/restaurants and takes around a 10 to 15 minutes walk. Hotel is mostly occupied by the over 50's and consequently the evenings entertainment is geared towards this age group. Piano bar every night with a fairly poor house band in the basement club followed by a second rate "professional" act. The evening entertainment could be improved with something like the inclusion of bingo that would probably go down a treat with the residents over tie a yellow ribbon sang poorely each evening. No free tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms but I heard that you can ask for this facility at a daily fee though, which is a bit mean imo.
Other than that it is a thoroughly enjoyable hotel if you want a peaceful and relaxing holiday in Los Cristianos.
But families with young children may want to look elsewhere.

“Very good indeed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2012

Booked this hotel via their website so had all the additional benefits, Got our suitcases then caught the free taxi, arrived at the hotel in 15 minutes, none of waiting for buses and countless other passengers. Before arriving had emailed the hotel asking if we could have a room on a high floor and it was granted, room 568, absolutely great, sun all day. Lovely room especially the balcony, large plus sunbeds, no need to reserve a bed by the pool. There were people who actually at 7.15am went to reserve beds by the pool. Food good, plenty of choice, catering for all tastes. Found it much quieter in the dining room if you went to the farthest part of the room past all the food, plenty of empty tables. At night we found the listening to Jeremy playing the piano most enjoyable although there was more choice in other bars. All in all a really nice hotel, a nice walk to the centre of Los Cristianos, would gladly go back and would book via their website considering all the extra benefits you get. All the staff did their best to make sure you had a good holiday, everywhere well maintained, room had everything that you would require. Nice at night to sit on the balcony and listen to the sea, absolute peace.

Room Tip: email the hotel and ask, we did and got room 568, sun all day and a good view of the bay and harbour...

“A Grand Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2012

We stayed at Arona Gran for the first time in May 2012 having previously stayed at the other 2 Spring hotels - Volcano and Bitacora - many times. We enjoyed the Arona Gran so much that we decided to return in November. It was just as good on this visit. We feel it is the best hotel in the Group. We find it difficult to be critical of anything. It is a first class building, public areas and bedrooms are kept very clean, it is a large well laid out hotel with a beautiful pool area. Staff are very helpful, pleasant and most have a very good command of English. The main dining room is spacious and the variety and quality of food is great . It seems to appeal to older age group perhaps due to the quiet relaxed atmosphere and location at one end of Los Cristianos. The location is maybe the one downside if you want to be in the hub of a resort. We will definitely be back to this hotel for our next Tenerife holiday.

Room Tip: Select a room on the sunny side of the building as some balconies are in shade at all times

“Quite good, but...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

The hotel was quite nice. We were one of the only two couples with children (a baby) but I think that has more to do with the time of the year. The hotel was full of elderly people, and super quiet. Although the hotel was quite full, there were plenty of sunbeds available for everyone. The pool area was a bit crowded for that reason, but it is better than not enough sunbeds. Breakfast was good, and dinner was also quite nice for a buffet. They had always fish and meat on the grill and a cheese selection which was very nice. At breakfast, bread was far better than the pastry. As a Spaniard, I would have liked to get the blood sausages (morcilla) at dinner time, but I understand that the menu is more directed to foreigners (they had only another spanish couple and us, the rest were mainly british, and also german, dutch,...).

Also they let as check out a bit later, at 15h, which was quite nice having a baby with us. They said that they could not let us leave later than that because the hotel was full, but this was already enough for us.

Also, the staff was extremely helpful when we asked about excursions. They gave us very good advise.

Location is good. You have to walk like 10 min to the beach, but you are at one end of Los Cristianos close to some hiking paths.

Two things bothered me though. First, they gave us a room in the ground floor, for which we had to climb like 10 steps. There are only like 20 rooms out of 200 that are not accesible with wheels, and they gave us one of those. It was not practical at all with the baby pram. Also the room was close to the bar where they had music every night. It was not very loud or until very late, but we could hear it from the room. We had already unpacked everything when we realise all these inconveniences, so we were lazy to ask for another room. So we do not know if we would have got it changed. However, since we already mentioned that we would be coming with a baby and asked for a baby bed, I think it should have been obvious that the room choice was not perfect for us.

The second thing was that, at dinner, nobody offered us the possibility to prepare baby food for our 10 month old. Two days before leaving one of the waiters mentioned that there was indeed this possibility and that he was going to speak to the cook, but we did not get anything out of it, so in the end we were stuck with the baby jars.

Room Tip: rooms 050-071, on the ground floor, have 10 steps you cannot avoid (not ideal for suitcaises, babyst...
