“Very good hotel in a great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2011

Stayed there for 10 nights and really enjoyed it
Good clean rooms, friendly staff that spoke english, best thing about it was it was only a few min away from the beach and had many nice restaurants in the area!
Glad we didn´t go for the half board option as we had some great meals in dif places!

Trip didnt get off to a good start when the coach driver dropped us off at the wrong hotel and all the holidaymakers travelling to the apartments marched into the wrong hotel. After being directed to the correct place across the road a good holiday began.
The apartment was big and comfortable for the economic price. It was cleaned irregularly! Burt it was clean. The kitchen had all the things you need to cook etc but we never used it much prefering to eat in the wealth of restaurants around.
The apartments have their own bar/ restaurant which offered a quality economic menu.
Lots of trips to different places available to keep you entertained for at least a week.
Our tour rep "Thomas Cook" offered us a trip to Loco Park which is like Sea World with Dolphins and killer Whale shows etc. We went on a trip on sale with the hotel reception which was 10 euro's each cheaper.. no surprise there except we went on the same bus as people who had booked with the rep for 10 euro's more.
A big plus for us was free wi-fi internet in the bar.
A big negative was having a room overlooking the main street ...fine during the day but surprisingly noisy at night, with revellers, late night revellers, party goers across the streeet and loud music from nearby bars, plus noisy cats fighting.
Another negative on the trip was the queueing at the airport on the return flight. Had to queue for over an hour just to check in, I think its my longest ever queue to check in! Got the impression airport staff were very inefficient!.
Overall a great place to stay if you are watching the money, clean and lovely pool area. Good location pleasant walk into the centre of Los Christianos... Weather good all year round.

Just got back from a 7 day stay at the HG Tenerife Sur, and we had a lovely time.
We wasnt allowed to check in until after 2pm, and we had to hang around for a while, however there is a room behind reception where they let you store your cases etc until your room is ready.

Me and my partner was self catering, and was located a 3rd floor apartment overlooking the pool area. Apartment was spacious, clean, smelt lovely on arrival, beds were very comfortable, big wardrobe space with full length mirrors. Kitchen had everything you needed, even down to egg cups. bathroom had a hairdryer, and miniature toiletries.

There was a ceiling fan in the living room and bedroom which kept us very cool in the evening.
Didnt have any issues with the hotel or room. We got a safe for the week as we heard they had been break in's etc, however when we was there we heard nothing and we felt very safe in our room. Just make sure you keep your patio doors closed and locked when you are out. Just common sense will help.

You do have to be at the pool at 9am to get a sunbed and a good space at the pool. Some people were even at the pool at half 8 waiting for the sunbeds to be unlocked. There is a sign at reception saying sunbeds cannot be reserved and any reserved may have your towels removed. This was not the case, everyone got a sunbed at 9am, stuck there towel on it and then went off for their breakfast etc. No towels were ever removed.

We were self catering, but we did not eat at the hotel. The food looked very average and breakfast was always the same and didnt look very tasty at all. Every morning we went across the road to THE ORANGE TREE (situation under the Cristian Sur). Did amazing breakfasts, english sausages, bacon etc, and lovely coffee's. Mark and his wife are very welcoming and we loved eating here in the mornings. Also try some of the lovely restaurants, Las Velas (down near the harbour), we ate here 3 nights out of the 7, it was amazing food and oversea's is a wonderful dining experience.

All in all, we would definately return here again.

Just come back from 4 nights at the Tenerife Sur Apartments. The apartments exceeded my expectations - clean, tidy, basic but more than adequate. Our room did not smell of smoke although smoking is allowed everywhere so if I went again I would be sure to request a non-smoking room. Our room overlooked the pool area which was very well kept - the area cleaned morning and evening by polite staff but more than that, the patrons aren't the type to trash any area - plenty of bins around which everyone used. What I liked particularly was a pride in the place which I didn't see from the outside of others we walked past - flowers growing up the sides of the buildings - well cared for plants and trees, and geraniums on the balconies. Very pleasant indeed.

The apartments, and resort for that matter, attract an older clientele but that suited us fine - we weren't there to party but to have a short relaxing break. We tried hard and were finally able to track down good quality local food rather than British pub type food. We managed to find Tapas and Paella which was delicious. The port is a 15 minute walk away or a few minutes in a taxi will costs about 5 Euros.

The hotel breakfast is really good value at 6 Euros for a full all-you-can-eat buffet. They even had my peppermint tea which really surprised me. The lunches/dinners looked good too but we ate those meals out the hotel. Bottles of water 1.5l only 75 cents in the hotel supermarket so not too expensive. We spent far less on food/drink than expected.

Only 2 downsides - 1) we both had backache so I don't think the beds are good quality, and 2) we were burgled one evening. Luckily we had taken the safe at 2.20 Euros a day which I would highly recommend so none of our stuff was stolen - but others lost mobiles / cameras / cigarettes etc. Shame.

Was our first visit to Tenerife and had friends that stayed in los cristianos last year at app. sanmarino not very far from tenerife sur and thought the place was a dive, so we were abit worried we were to get a similar place!
We were well happy to find that tenerife sur was nice clean and the service was faultless!
Good rooms and nice pool.
Ideal area not very far from the beach, only 10 min. walk.
Great restaurants around!
Try Rubina and the over seas!

We had a brief 3 night stay, not long enough to be able to comment on everything, but what I can say is, firstly it was quite a nice hotel, staff were friendly, room size was ok with bathroom facilities clean and stocked with little soaps and shower gels etc which was nice. The only issue we had was that the room smelt of cigarettes and had we been staying for longer, I would have asked for a different room, which the receptionist told us would have been provided without problem had we asked on arrival. We slept well althoughamazingly were a little cold at night and needed the provided rug. The pool area was clean and tidy, although pool bar seemed a little expensive.
The jhotel is siutated at the top of Los Cristianos and is about a 10 minute downhill walk to the beach, and therefore people with walking difficulties may find the uphill return a slight issue, althought here are plenty of taxis, but disabled people should be aware that LC is quite hilly although plenty of ramps and access appear to be provided
The resort was calm and not heaving with people for our visit 11-14 December which was nice and the weather was approx 25 degrees and sunny, although nights dropped to about 16 degrees and a jumper was required for walking around outside
bars and restaurants varied in price and quality, and beware - "Abora" on the seafront do 3 courses for 7.95 eruos - the food was not great! you pay for what you get, on the contrary, just up the hill from Burger King on the right is Maison Perla which served up lovely food!!
For a great bar with live sports and music, visit Dreamers, walk to the right of BK ( When looking at it with the sea behind you) keep going until you see a little childrens play area on your left, then if you look left (angle about 2 o clock with beack behind you) Dreamers is along there on the right) ask for Robbie, tell him you saw this review for a discount on your first drink!
