“Good basic accomodation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

We stayed for 2 nights at the end of May 2012 having booked during a flash sale at £15 per night. We had no hesitation given the previous good reviews.

Our apartment was as expected - comfortable, spacious, clean. Don’t expect any luxuries though. The pool area was great - and our little ones loved it. Very clean, nice large heated pool, clean toilets and shower/change facilities if required, and a great snack bar with competitive prices.

Most of the apartments can only be accessed by steps, so not so great for disabled guests, and we simply left out buggy in the car overnight which was parked outside on the road (plenty of car parking spaces).

The beach and main resort area is a 10/15 min stroll down the hill - the return walk is all uphill, but no major slopes to overcome.

If we were looking again at a few nights as an option for a stop-over, I would certainly be looking at the Oasis Mango.

We have stayed here twice and highly recommend it though its down hill to the beach so if you dont like walking you either get a cab 3 Euros or walk slowly (15 to 20 min ).

There are some very nice bars and restaurants and even a supermarket within a 5 minute walk
There is also a Pool bar and restaurant on site, though we prefer to explore.

On arrival at the hotel you notice two yellow and green tiled benches to the front with an arch over with Oasis Mango in green letters. Check in - 1.30pm and Check out 11am.
The Reception is outside and Reception staff are very polite and speak English well. We arrived at 1.20pm and the room was ready for 1.40pm so we were asked to wait in the lounge/wi-fi area until it was available. There are a couple of vending machines for drinks and snacks. There are two computers for internet access and a few shelves of books to help yourself too. Lots of magazines too but none were in English unfortunately. There is a TV in here too but it wasn't switched on for the length of our stay. There are lounging chairs outside with a table where I read my book for some stretches of time and benches around the reception to enjoy the sunshine.
You go down two flights of steps to the good size pool, with a children's pool separate. The only thing was that it wasn't heated so pretty chilly but the kids didn't seem to mind and loved the children's pool. There is a restaurant and pool bar down there too. Breakfast - 7.30-9.30am 6 euros per person - 30 euros per week, Dinner - 6pm-8pm - 12.50 euros, and Breakfast and Dinner 1 week 100 euros per person, . You can walk directly onto the street from here too.
Safety Box - 15 euros per week and 20 euro deposit
Television - only deposit for remote control 10 euros (we didn't need it) - English channels - BBC1, BBC World News and ITV1 (worth taking a laptop or something to play DVDs for yourselves when nothing on TV).
Fan - 10 euros week and 10 euros deposit
Iron - 2.5 euros a day and 20 euro deposit
Hairdryer - 20 euro deposit
Water - 5L available at 2 euros (best going supermarket)
They sell postcards and stamps
Self Laundry on site - 5 euros for 5 kilos

Our hotel room was 205 and we were given a key to open a gate just about 15 feet up the hill, where we could take our pushchair up without steps. We opened the gate and passed a small children's play area, around the corner and our room was down some steps. There was a cage of lovely canaries we passed each day, a lovely greeting. Down the steps met by a wooden door upon opening you are in the kitchen area, with a long mirror facing you and to the right is the kitchen, straight on is the bathroom and to the left is the two single bedroom. The bedroom had two single beds, a side table with lamp and fitted wardrobes the whole width of the room. The bathroom, being a lovely shade of pale blue, a bit dated but very clean, has a toilet, b-day, shower over bath, sink with mirror over and cupboard over sink for cosmetics, etc. You are given packets of soap, bath/shower gel and sanitary bags in a basket on the sink. For a bath you had to run the shower head in the bath and unfortunately there wasn't enough hot water to have a good deep bath (although we used the kettle a bit to help). Showering wasn't a problem though, normally enough hot water for one shower, 20 mins later enough for another.
The kitchen is again very clean, kettle, toaster, microwave, coffee maker and fridge with top freezer compartment. There were pans, knives, forks, spoons, teaspoons, chopping board, sharp knives, cups, plates, glasses, dishes and side plates. A jug and ashtrays are provided too. Weren't any dishes for the microwave though, so had to get something for this. There are two hobs but no oven. So cooking without the need for an oven needs to be planned. We did a lot of noodles/pasta, fruit, salad, tinned fish meals. One of the hobs once turned on blew the lights, so once we spoke to Reception it was sorted out immediately, but what you have in the kitchen is all you can have, I was cheeky and asked for an extra small pan and a microwave dish and the receptionist was very polite and said that what you had in the room was all you were given. Completely understand.
We slept really well, lovely and peaceful - just what we needed. No noise except hearing other people arriving rolling their suitcases up and down the hotel areas, but other than that really great sleep.
We did have pizza delivered to the room one evening (reception helped with this), we were told it would be 20 minutes and it took an hour. Great to be able to get a pizza but just be prepared to wait if you are hungry.
The hotel is on a fairly steep gradient of a hill. The walk from Los Cristianos to the hotel does take 20-30 mins as most reviewers say. It is a steady walk and only once you get 50 feet from the hotel does the gradient get really steep, so not bad at all unless it is really, really hot (being January it wasn't a problem, even with a pushchair seating two children of 3 and 7 years in it).
There are several supermarkets in the area - the Dialprix Supermarket 10 mins walk down the hill from the hotel or, because my husband likes to explore..... there is a supermercados about 5 mins walk. To get to the closer shop you can go through the Castle Harbour apartments reception to the left, to the pool and exit to the right, walk 2 minutes down the hill and it is on your left. It was a bit nearer when you wanted water, milk and such, but not quite as big as the Dialprix but it still stocked everything we wanted, including Gluten Free items which my little boy eats.
There is a bar and restaurant at the hotel but we didn't eat there, no reason, just wanted to explore. There is a pool bar open to everyone around the back of the Castle Harbour, think the apartments are called the Heights, but go up to the pool bar there (the sign says everyone welcome), it's a liverpool fan who runs it and we relaxed there with Sangria and food, they were very welcoming. The pool there is locked (as most apartment pools in the area), but we were told anyone can use it. All English people there.
Near the Dialprix supermarket there are some restaurants. We had a lovely meal at the Oyster Catcher - a good roast of the day - great roast potatoes we thought. We asked them to swap chips for rice, for the kids, and this wasn't a problem. A lovely clean place and the staff very polite and good English speaking.
We did try Leo's Bar near the bus station and small playground, 8.50 euros for 3 courses (this is an offer you see alot, a great price). We found this bar very basic and not sure about cleanliness.... The staff were pretty friendly too. We were not ill but the canary potatoes were only just warm and sauce cold.
A place we really liked was Abora Restaurant. It is on the beach/seafront. The staff are dressed in white shirts and black trousers, look smart and the prices are great too. We had a lovely full English breakfast, 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausages, beans, fried bread/toast, for 3 euros ish. They also serve PG Tips tea if you ask and 0.95 euros for a pint of Dorada Beer (a great crowd puller). We went back and had a mixed paella - 24 euros for two people, they had a menu for the kids - 3.45 euros for meal and ice cream. We had a lovely time and I had a lovely strawberry icecream in a huge glass well presented and they even gave us a liquor afterwards and some funky straws for the kids at the end of the meal with a complimentary drink for them too.
Oasis Mango Apartments were great for us - great sleep and the kids relaxed there. All the facilities were perfect for what we needed, the cleaners were really trustworthy, especially when I was wondering where my money was one day and I had left it in the room. They cleaned and left it alone.

Room Tip: The lower the floor, the less steps you have. We had the second floor (well it is on the gradient o...

The apartments are large, well equipped and cleaned regularly. I think all balconies get the sun all day. We went in December so the nights were cool, and we slept well! The pool area was great- not too many people there, and the drinks weren't too expensive; the toasted tuna and onion sandwiches were delicious at 3.50 euros. Yes, it was trek to the beach but the hill wasn't too steep and there are plenty of bars and restaurants en route! So take comfy walking shoes, and enjoy the daily walk like we did- and I think this was the reason I didn't put on any weight, unbelievably, over Christmas for the first time ever! We will definitely stay at these apartments again.

We stayed for a week in this property. We were quite happy with the place: the room was clean and there wasn't anything to complain. This Oasis Mango was quite full during the Christmas time. The customers seemed to be retired couples from Germany, Sweden, Finland and other places - quite peaceful people, so the good sleep was guaranteed. We chose the room from the first floor, so there wasn't view from the balcony. I recommend to pay some extra and get a room from the upper floors. The supermarket was nearby and there was always space for our car in the parking lot, which is situated by the street.

Room Tip: We chose the room from the first floor, so there wasn't view from the balcony. I recommend to pa...

We stayed here Oasis Mango in Los Cristianos on 22 November till 29th November 2012.
The apartment was good size, clean and all you needed was there.
The hotel is a good way up a hill which isn't a very steep hill but after walking around the resort or coming back from the beach, it's a bit of a pain.
Then when you get to the hotel, you have a mass of steps to get to your apartment.
The hotel is built on a steep section of a hill, so the apartments are on levels.
We had the top level so by the time we got in to the apartment, we felt like we just did 2 hrs in a gym.
But the view of the resort was lovely and the sunsets were stunning from our balcony.
The food in the resturant was home made and very good but not much in the way of choices.
Reception staff helpfull and friendly enough.
Mainly German and French, so if you dont mind Plenty of nose blowing while your eating, then you will be fine.
The pool is fresh water but they do over do the clorine.
