“great service,great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2007

Although we booked through a travel agency we had checked trip advisor before we decided.

The service was terrific and very friendly family who own the hotel.

Breakfast was delicious and very relaxed by the pool.

It is a minute or two to walk down to the beachfront which is so pretty and has great food from a selection of restraunts who all want your custom.

Lounge chairs/beds and umbrellas are free and you can have drinks served to you direct from the restraunts.

Massages are available while lying back on the lounge bed,all just very good service and Platys Gialos is a brilliant spot to stay with small boats to other small islands leaving from the area .

We were told Mykanos Town is often windy which it was when we took the bus in for the day.
I would not hesitate to recommend the Hotel Argo for friendly service and spacious rooms.

Our stay was mid May and the weather was great and before the huge crowds which we heard start arriving from June ...advice if you want to avoid that is to go in September.

HOTEL
before visiting this hotel i was a bit wary about the such good feedbacks from many people..after visiting this hotel now i know i can guarentee all the good reviews are genuine!! because the hotel is excellent! its above and beyond for the price we paid!
i cant believe its only a 2/3 stars this hotel should get at least 4 star! mayb its because this hotel doesnt have a proper restaurant and a swimming pool. but who needs those when they are all one minute walk away from all the restaurants and beach? plus they do serve you really nice buffet breakfast in the morning!
well also the minimarkets and bus stop just literally right outside the hotel.
all the staff are very friendly..even the cats haha they are lovely...the brother picked us up at 7am in the morning from the airport. we didnt get a room until 9ish tho but the check in time is 12 so we're quite lucky! the sister is always at the reception to help and serves you nice tea and coffee in the morning! even the cleaners are really nice too! they even wait until we got up and left to clean the room which was like noon time.(i had so many experiences a lot of cleaners didnt care they just knocked on the door in the morning until they could wake u up!!)
if i write about how nice this hotel is it'd probably be another 500 words..bascially what all other reviews are written here i found them very true and reliable!

MYKONOS
about the place...mykonos..what can i say..very beautiful island with lots of beaches..we took water taxi and we went to the nudist super paradise beach!! but personally i think the paradise beach is better! the plati yialos beach is of course very nice too...we did try to get to the pasarou beach but we found the shortcut to that beach was quite scary! bascially its a very narrow road off the cliff without any fence or barrier!
the town is so nice...amazingly theres a lot of shopping you can do...they sell very stylish clothes and accessorises! the people in mykonos are very friendly too! unlike athens!!! food was ok...personally dont fancy greek food so much! but they do have a lot of italians and seafood.

WEATHER
night time could get really windy in sept! we stayed from the 9th until the 14th. also was a bit too chilly to swim..but weather was fairly warm u can still get lots of sunshine i did get slightly tanned!

BUDGET
mykonos is one of the most expensive island..but everything is definately cheaper than uk! taxi is quite cheap about £5 from town to hotel 15mins away. food is about £10 to £20 per head.
we spend £320 on each flight ticket, hotel is £60 per night for 2. and together 2 of us we spent about less than 600£ spending money for 5 days. but we were kinda eating wherever and buying whatever. there are cheap places to eat like kebab and stuff if you're not picky im sure you can spend a lot less!

i'll definately stay in argo again if im coming to the aegean sea next time! great location! great hotel! great service! but i guess i'll definately stay in Santorini for few days as well!

  • Liked — excellent service, great location
  • Disliked — the double beds are two big seperate beds together
  • Tips/Secrets — this island is also popular for gay couples!

We stayed in this hotel one night during our trip in Greece. Although it is not located at the city, it only takes 15 minutes from hotel to city by bus. There is a bus stop outside the hotel so it is very convenient for the travellers. What's more, it takes about 5 minutes walk to the breach. That's important place for travellers in Mykonos. The hotel offered a excellent big, seaview room and great contiential breakfast for us. That breakfast was the best one during our trip. The manager were so kind that he will drive us from/to the port. We don't worry the bus schedule when leaving and we can enjoy our time at the last minutes there..

We do strongly recommend others who will go to Mykonos for their holidays in the future.

The highlight of this hotel is the service. We were caught at the port and even taken to the airport. Breakfast was very good and everybody was friendly. The location is excellent (close to the beach) and there's a bus stop in front of the hotel that takes you into Mykonos town where most things happen. Hard to find a better hotel for the price they charge.

From the moment we passed through security at the airport and were met by the proprietor, Thannasis...to when he drove us back to the ferry dock a few days later, Karen and I were given the most kind and thoughtful treatment possible.
The Argo Hotel is spotless and overlooks the bay at Platys Gialos. While not right on the beach, it's a very short walk to sandy, Platys Gialos, which is lined with a number of nice tavernas. The caique boat to the beaches further south (Paradise, Super Paradise, etc.) is right there as well.
The two things which set this hotel apart (other than the very reasonable price) are the service and the breakfast. The latter is served in a lovely sheltered, but open air, terrace with meats, cheezes, perfectly poached eggs, cheezy scrambled eggs, breads, cereal, yogurt, fresh juice and coffee, and my favorites: Thannis' mom's homemade rice pudding set out in individual bowls and his delicious bruscetta-like toasts with fresh tomatoes and spices, underlain by a yogurt mixture. In the evening, Thannasis serves as bartender / host in the terrace, dispensing drinks, travel advice, and spreading good cheer among the guests.
We found out that his favorite restaraurant was the "Nautilus" and met up with his pal Vasillis, who works there, and who treated us to a few shots of chilled Limoncello "on the house".
With Mom in the kitchen, sister Stavroula at the reception desk and serving the coffee and Thannasis doing his thing, it's a real family atmosphere, with the highest level of service.
It's fun to stay in Platys Gialos and have such ready access to the beaches and related tavernas, while being able to hop on the bus (just outside the hotel) which runs every half hour for the short drive to Mykonos town.

Picked us up at the airport upon arrival and dropped us off at the old port for departure. Warm, hospitable familly run hotel. Nice size cozy rooms and good breakfast. Offered much, much assistance for first time visitors to the island. They took care of us well. Close to 2 great beaches, dining, bus stop, and mini market. With their friendliness, it's a no brainer to stay there again and again.
