“Nice, clean place to stay.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013

We stayed here for one night, and we had no problems whatsoever. The rooms were immaculate, and there was no bugs at all. After comparing another hotel in Kampong Cham, the rooms were far better at the Monorom VIP hotel. We stayed in the standard room, for $20 a night. We were very happy with our short stay here. :)

Room Tip: Not sure what the other rooms are like, but the $20 ones were fine for us :) I think you pay extra f...

Rooms at front are large with a good river view but also very noisy all night long! No wifi in hotel no safe in room or at reception! No tea/coffe in room as advertised, night staff are very unfriendly also half the hotel is being renovated so with all the outside noise plus the bilding work not much sleep! We were very disappointed in this hotel and would not recomend it!

To start with the positives: this place is situated on the Mekong with fine views over it and is not expensive: USD 25 for a riverside room with balcony.
But almost everything else is a negative. They had no record of my reservation (made by phone because they don't bother to answer emails). No restaurant, so no breakfast. The rooms are a model of ill-designed elaborate blowsy excess with what one guide accurately describes as "heavy swags, pelmets and drapes". The bedside light (or the one with a plug) is on a table so far far from the bed that you have to get up to turn it on. The wooden (teak? mhogany? ) furnniture is so heavy as to be immoveable. The riverside rooms do have balconies but only miserably small windows. Staff not especially friendly. Other guests include well-dressed NGO reps who drive around in Land Cruisers and eat at the best restaurants. Not to be confused with the other Monorom which is, ahem, a "massage parlour."

Room Tip: Ask for a riverside room

The room is very clean with beautiful decoration. Very good sleeping quality with comfy king size bed, except some noisy drill of the building renovated next door.

The room overlooking the river gives perfect view of the sun rise!

Staff are friendly, but should get training on hospitality as their way of communication seemed a bit awkward for me even as a local.

Perfect location which you can stroll along the river in the evening to see the activities of locals and taste local foods.

Will back there again once in Kampong Cham.

Room Tip: - My stay was in the first week of Feb 2013, the building next door is being renovated making distur...

Nice hotel. Good location on the river. Had dinner at Smiles which was fine but found a lovely little place down the road for breakfast which had homemade pineapple jam. Good Wifi at the hotel. Big room. Rode bikes across the bamboo bridge to the island for a look at village life which was fun.

This Hotel has a good location, right on the Mekong and a 2 minute walk from the bus station. While nothing outstanding it's a good value choice for the day or so you're likely to want to spend in Kampong Cham.

We had a huge riverview room with TV, A/C, fridge and a balcony. The lovely view over the river in itself made for a very relaxing stay. The furnishings are over the top and certainly won't be to all tastes. The bathroom was good, with a separate bath and shower. Unfortunately our fridge didn't work as it seemed to have an incorrect power plug. A kettle was supplied but, strangely, nothing else for coffee or tea making.

Breakfast is not available but a cafe next door (Smiles) offers a number of good choices. A number of reasonable restaurants are a short walk away along the river.

Room Tip: It's worth the extra for a river view room.

We stayed only 1 night here. Had a nicely decorated riverfront room with a little balcony.
The rooms are spacious with a good big bed and decent facilities...we hadn´t had any water but so didn´t the whole city that day so it was clearly not the hotel´s fault.
The staff was friendly. Breakfast was not included but the "Smile Restaurant" (Non-profit organisation supporting orphans) is directly next to the hotel and there you can get a really good breakfast for little money.
