“Holiday 2013”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013

Travelled with Thomson's to the Grand Palladium Palace Hotel Ibiza for a 14 day stay. Flights from and to Glasgow first class with excellent service provided by on-board staff.
Hotel only 10 - 15 minutes from the Airport. First impressions - lovely hotel - handed wet towel and cooling drink on arrival - very impressed. Wrist bands issued for duration of stay together with towel availability cards.
We stayed in room 1205 in the main building. The room was large with a good sized balcony - well appointed with a fridge which was stocked with soft drinks and bottles of water ( restocked every 2 days ). Tea making facilities - large TV which had to be tuned into English channels. The bathroom contained usual toilet/bidet and a Jacuzzi / shower bath together with hair dryer. Again adequate toiletries and towels provided throughout our stay.
Dressing gowns and slippers provided however, necessitated a visit to reception to obtain lager sized robes. Free wall safe provided within each room.

The hotel resort is well served with three restaurants one of which is A la carte. The food quantity, variety and quality could not be questioned. First class fare. Unusual for the A la carte restaurant to be provided free of charge. The food and service was excellent. However, get there early to ensure you get a table.

The swimming pools are fantastic with adequate numbers of sun loungers always available. Bali style beds also available. Programmes are provided for teens and small children on a daily basis with plenty to do adequately supervised by hotel entertainment staff. ( Above average involvement with plenty of interaction with parents and patrons ).

Adequate Drinks are provided free of charge at various locations and brand named drinks made available upon request. There are charges applicable for certain cocktails etc. but not necessary for those patrons who enjoy a good spirit / beer etc. Champagne is available FREE at any time and is provided at breakfast if necessary. Lots of little extra's like sandwiches and cakes etc. provided throughout the day.

In addition to the children's activities there is an excellent adults programme provided by the resort entertainment team. Evening shows are provided in a large circus tent - again provided by the entertainment team. First class.

The hotel has access to the beach via a locked gate. However, patrons should be aware that the resort does NOT provide or own any facilities on the beach such as sun loungers etc. which need to be paid for if required. Watch out for pick-pockets and bag snatchers !!

The quality and friendliness of ALL staff within the resort was EXCELLENT and a credit to the local management team ethos.

One small but important issue which has been identified by numerous reviews was the hardness of the bed-mattress !! The reception will go out of their way to provide some cushioning but - A good nights sleep is an important part of any holiday. The resort management team need to address this issue as soon as possible !!!!

Thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. One of the best all inclusive resorts we have visited. Will definitely return again next year ( beds and all ??).

Room Tip: Higher floors have less A/C unit noise

Travelling as a family of four, this hotel was ideal as we were able to stay in one room together rather than two. Room was clean & comfortable, adequate for our stay. The hotel was wonderful. Staff friendly, helpful & efficient. Pool areas immaculate & ideal for all. No problems getting sunbeds. Wonderful children's area & pool by the kids club. Kids club staff & activities had my children wanting to go back for more. Beach area lovely, beautiful clear water & soft sandy beach. Great standard & variety of meals at the buffets. Two separate restaurants for when you wanted a change from buffet, that didn't disappoint. Kids loved the evening entertainment. Spa facilities & treatments keep the adults happy too. Walking distance from bars / beach area of Playa d'en Bossa. Bus stop at hotel to explore Ibiza. Can recommend this hotel for all ages / types of holiday. Although after reading other reviews, glad we went in June rather than August.

Returned to the Gran Palladium Palace after a year or so away. We were very happy to return & to see some familiar faces.Standards every bit as high as on previous occasion & it really felt like coming home.
In fact, the Hotel were able to offer us the same area as before with a view of the bird sanctuary/lake from our ground floor patio. This location is near to Reception;dining room;bar lounge, Main foyer entrance & pool without the noise associated with high jinks ducking dive bombing etc (I am not an old git but do like a quiet room to relax in)
Food was varied & of a good standard. Very little to criticise at all. If I am being picky I would say that the free wine offered when dining is of a poor quality...weak & lacking in taste. However, one can always purchase wine at a reasonable rate which may suit better. The draft beer was of a very good quality. I loved the fact that international spirits were available at no cost ie Johnny Walker whisky & Beefeater Gin
Credit to housekeeping staff...room always smelled fresh & clean. One thing though you might want to pack your own favourite toilet tissues/rolls.
Next year when we return it will be Andrex Quilts for us!
We spent no time in Playa D'en Bossa....don't like it BUT in fairness, it does seem to have been smartened up somewhat. New shop/bar fronts cleaner pavements etc.
Our routine throughout the holiday was early evening bus to Ibiza Town & taxi back at night or walk along the beach to get the small ferry into Ibiza Town with taxi back.
All in all,a highly recommended Hotel we shall be returning to in 2014 God willing!

Room Tip: We went to Block 2 immediately facing main restaurant & would recommend room facing away from po...

Loved this hotel, it was great for small children and very clean!
Food choices where great in the main canteen, something for everyone and always fresh.

We found all the people in the orange polo shirts very friendly, a lovely warm bunch. People in the canteen were also very accommodating too. Cleaning staff were very thorough and polite. As well as the bar staff, always greating you with a smile.

The chap in charge of the Tex Mex/Mediterranean was not very welcoming as we turned up with small children. We wanted to give it a go as it was included in our all inc.package. I do think more effort should be made to welcome families into these restaurants. However, say that the waiters in there were lovely.

Also the girl behind the front desk, Think her name was Leanne or something similar with black bobbed hair and blue eyes just looked down at you as if she had a bad smell under her nose. She was talking about us in a rude manor in spanish to another collegue right infront of our faces.

All in all we loved the place, taking into account the amount of staff there are working there you are going to have a few bad apples.

Stayed here for one week having never been to ibiza before. First impression was that hotel is a bit out on a limb, however it is more of a resort hotel. The hotel entrance and reception are nice and well maintained. Initial room that was allocated was not too good - right by main pool with noise from music and children. Asked to be moved and the hotel did a good job in moving us to a room on the other side of block 2000 overlooking the lagoon and forest, which was great, nice and quiet. Despite the fact ibiza airport is next door once in the room with door shut you can't hear the aircraft taking off / landing, outside you can of course, but this didn't bother me as I quote liked watching the comings and goings. The rooms are a bit dated and don't seem too big, the TV had only about 1 channel of English TV which wasn't good. The bathroom again is small and dated and had no extraction so soon gets hot and wet, the shower head was next to useless and kept falling off which the hotel fixed upon mentioning it, though you think they would know this from when they clean the room. The sink took ages to drain and must have had some kind of blockage. The rooms have small fridges which are restocked each day with soft drinks, and there is a kettle so you can make some tea, although you may want to take some UK tea with you, you will also need to ask them for milk. The room has a safe which is free to use and easy to operate, it is located in the wardrobe. There is also air con in the room which is excellent and was a great relief to come into after being outside in the heat. The rooms are cleaned every day and are done extremely well, the cleaners would only come in when you were ready by leaving the card on the door. Moving to the restaurant, this was first class - a buffet style and available breakfast, lunch and dinner - something different every day along with a few staples. The quality of food is excellent and the food was always good in variety, quantity and taste. The service in the restaurant is also good. There are a couple if things they could do to improve, given it is all inclusive, one of which is to have longer opening times for later breakfast - it finishes at 1030, there is then nothing available until 1130 in a different restaurant, other than some small sandwiches the content of which I was never sure of. They also seem to switch everything off at 1030, including the toaster, so if you were in the middle of toasting something you didn't get it toasted as the switch had been flicked - which seemed petty in the extreme. You can sit where you like and most times we sat on the outside terrace which was very pleasant. There are a couple of other restaurants, a Mexican and Italian which we didn't visit as the choice in the main restaurant was good and I'd seen on here reviews were not too good. There is also a beach restaurant called portofino, the location if this is good right by the beach, they do continental breakfast from 1130 and a cut down restaurant service in the afternoon as well as drinks. Food was good here again, however the place shuts completely by late afternoon which seems a bit mis guided as it is a beach bar and would be a great venue for an evening drink, but it is shuttered up by then, I am assuming they don't want to put staff on to run it as it is AI they won't make any more return, but it seems a lost opportunity. The main bar is fine, by reception, most drinks are included in the AI, including branded ones like Smirnoff and Gordon's, however make sure you ask for them by name otherwise they will likely default to giving you the local variants. Service at the bar was always quick - they aren't messing round with change for a start! The hotel says it has wireless access in reception, which it does, but it is very very very very slow.....slower than old dial up, in fact a complete waste of time. It is a big thing that really let's the hotel down in this day and age, really unacceptable. They advertise you can pay for wireless in the room, but I understood this to be just as poor - if you are trying to keep an eye on things on line you will have to either go onto your 3G or go elsewhere to download, the hotel version is really really poor - sort it out Palladium - it should be all over the building, working properly and not an additional cost. The hotel is situated next to playa d en bossa beach, with a gate out to it. When you do go out there, sunbeds and umbrellas are €7 each, so €21 a day for 2 people - again I think this is unacceptable - the hotel is supposed to be all inclusive and this feels like profiteering by the hotel. It is a hotel employee who collects the money and issues tickets, they can see whether you have an AI band on so they should be able to distinguish between guests and other members of the public so they can charge accordingly, even when you roll up at 1400 they still charge you the full rate which again I don't think is right, palladium you need to look at this, it's the small things which annoy people. The beach is quite big and is all open, so you can wonder further down if you get fed up. Next to the beach are rocks which are nice for a walk and there are done nice quieter areas the other side. Back in the hotel they have 2 main pools with sun loungers and umbrellas round, however we found it almost impossible to find spare sun loungers as they were all taken, usually by the large German contingent which must form about 75% of the guests. The hotel advertise sun beds in the shape of a 4 poster bed almost, which are nice, however there are very few of these (less than 10) so chances of getting in one are slim. The annoying thing is most if the people who did get them were never in them! There is no waiter service and you will need to go to bars etc to get drinks, but not too much of an issue. The hotel also has a spa as well, they do have the odd offer. It is very nice and a lovely building, the spa has a number if different areas and we went in there for treatment and a circuit and were left alone to enjoy the lovely pool and surroundings afterwards, which was very nice. Whilst you can see the centre of ibiza (Evissa) from the beach it isn't walkable that I could find, it does involve taking a bus from the front of the hotel (about €2) or a taxi. The taxi cost anything between €15-20 each way. The centre of the old town is fantastic and a must see, go to sunset bar for a great mojito, great atmosphere. The hotel have an on site car hire rep, this all worked
out well as the car is delivered to and collected from the hotel and they include fully comp insurance for about €10. The island is not very big so you can get round it relatively easily - we went to Porto San Miguel and San Antonio to watch the sun go down, which was fantastic. So overall, the hotel is good and to be recommended in an overall sense depending on how far away from the centre you want to be, the cleanliness and food quality is fantastic as is the spa but the hotel need to address issues with wireless, charging for sun beds and perhaps doing a few updates to some of the rooms. Overall a nice holiday though.

The hotel was very nice. Everything was clean and well taken care of, and our room was very big! We had a room overlooking the smaller pool, which was great. All of the food was good, as were the drinks, and the staff were friendly enough, some more than others. The part of the beach was a little removed from the major party area, which was good for us- the clubs, like Space and Ushuaia, are easily within walking distance, but it also allows you to relax on the beach if you aren't in the mood to get crazy. Oh, fyi (because we didn't know until we got to Ibiza), all of the beaches are public there, so even though the hotel is on the beach, you have to pay for beach chairs. We liked this, because we could move up and down the beach and stop at the places that had a good atmosphere for us.

I have a few minor complaints/suggestions for the hotel:
1. This isn't the biggest deal, but irritated me the first day we were there-- The towel cabana is by the tennis courts, which is on the complete opposite side of the complex from the beach and the pool. It seemed to me like they could have a stand next to the pool for towels, so you're not wandering around for them.
2. They advertise having car rental services on site, however, the experience was a pain. They should have somebody at the desk during their hours, or have a sign letting you know when they will return. We waited for a very long time for a guy to show up. Then he helped us and the next people line and left. So, then we waited for what seemed like forever for the next person to show up with our car. Then, there was something wrong with the car, so we had to wait AGAIN for forever for the next person to show up to help us with that. Once we finally got the car, everything was fine and went smoothly from there.
3. The bed was very firm-- to me, quite uncomfortable.

DO YOU WANT A PEACEFUL HOLIDAY WITH TEENAGERS? THIS IS THIS THE WAY TO GO!
We were travelling with three teenaged boys , 19, 18 and 13, not easy.
We thought about this a long time, how do you get them to go on holiday with you, and not moan? Go to where they want to be. Select a good hotel close to night life. GPP is so quiet and relaxing and they can still get to their clubs. Space and Ushuaia very close but no noise nearby. Hotel very clean and food very good. No complaints whatsoever. Staff all very pleasant. All in all great holiday. Do not listen to moaners and groaners. Would most definitely return. Travelled with Jet2 and again no complaints.

Room Tip: We were in block 4000 upwards and always very quiet.
