“Not good for the less able - you need to be a mountain goat!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2015

We have just returned from a week in room 91 of the Pardelas group of apartments - the same as MACDONALD067 I think. The 2 bedroom apartments (only 2 in total) are at the furthest point from reception possible in this large complex. We had to go down about 15 steps and then back up about 30 or so to get to our rooms. Once there the rooms are good with most things you need. Great views from the balconies and a quiet area. We found the back gate which made life a lot easier on my arthritic back and knees! Some lovely restaurants in the area - we didn't have a bad meal all the time we were there - try Mamma Mia and the Galeria. As mentioned by others it is mainly a German speaking area. Be aware that reception is only open 08.00 till 14.00 and again 17.00 to 20.00. Not a good impression when you arrive tired and have to find the lifeguard by the pool to get your keys. Make sure you visit the Oasis Park zoo - a very enjoyable day out. We would not return purely because of the difficulty we had with the layout and quantity of steps in the area

We stayed in the family room 91 of the Pardelas and that was just right. Weather was great for February. Windy but around 24 degrees during the day. A little cooler at night.

We found the location ideal. Upstairs double room with balcony. Not too close to the shops car park so there was no noise.

Area was clean and tidy. Will definately visit again if we go to Fuerteventura.

Costa Calma is in the South and mainly a German resort area. We enjoyed it.

Very handy for the shops and bars. Two minutes, if that, to the beach.

If you visit don't forget to visit the Chipmonks on the beach at the south end by the rocks.

Room Tip: Room 91 in the Pardelas.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2015

We stayed here for 5 nights in January and had an amazing bungalow at a great price. We had sea views and the standard of cleaning was first class. The pool was like a 5 star hotel pool and the beach was literally 40 secs walk. Elizabeth at the pool was really friendly and flexible, once again it does help to speak Spanish. My only slight criticism was the reception was often closed and the people are a little cold, well they are German, but saying that they were very efficient. We will certainly return in the future and stay longer. The owners are locals and leave a survey for guests, which is always a good sign. The location is close to the hire car office (book in advance like we did, if you want a car!) and the SPAR supermarket. We went to the Mercadona, in direction Moro Jable, which is only 10 minutes away and much cheaper. We had a few beers in the Pirates Bar above the SPAR and we liked it a lot, good atmosphere. The area hasn't got many restaurants, but the beaches are amazing and you can walk to most of them. I fully endorse the Bahia Calma Bungalows and hope they continue to keep their standards high.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view or a pool view and make sure visit the great pool at least once.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2014

We (couple with 9 year old son) were here in October/November and it was very relaxing. Maid service 5x/week was perfect. The very clean appartment had everything you need (freshly redecorated), the terrace had plenty of sun, there is a perfect German bakery around the corner, the SPAR supermarket is 3 minutes on foot away...the neighbourhood is relatively quiet, but that was what we were looling for.

Room Tip: The bungalows strech out between two roads, take the rooms the most left seen from the top (we had...

We stayed in one of the terraced bungalows, it was a good size providing a small patio and roof top area to lounge around outside. The interior throughout was dated but generally in good condition with the exception of the bathroom which could benefit from better ventilation, mould treatment and new tiles in places. The location is fantastic, within easy walking distance of the beach, local restaurants and a SPAR supermarket. The complex pool is a good size, very clean with comfy loungers provided. The local beach is really good, clear water and soft sand with some watersports available for more active holidaymakers. Whilst most aspects of the bungalow were fine especially for such a low price (in Sept 2014), sleeping was difficult due to the heat during the night. Our bedroom had a small window but the position of our bedroom meant there was no through flow of air so it was stiflingly hot at night. The bungalows do not have air conditioning and you cannot borrow/rent electric fans from reception. Thankfully after searching in several nearby shops (including a hardware shop) we managed to buy a 2nd hand desk fan from a souvenir shop and catch up on missed sleep.

Overall we enjoyed our stay in Bahia Calma bungalows but I think they could invest in fans or rent them to holidaymakers because it made a huge difference to the quality of sleep during our stay. The plastic mattress cover is also uncomfortable and noisy but thankfully they can be easily removed.

We stayed in a great appartment with really good facilities. It was really quiet at night, with the local restuarants and local bread/cake shop almost next door. A beautiful view in the morning whilst enjoying our breakfast.

We stayed at the Bahia Calma Bungalows in the middle of September. We've been given a bungalow 45 next to a lovely swimming pool, however it was dark and noisy as next door there was a street with restaurants. The next day we asked a receptionist Beate for a different one more quiet and we've been given the best apartment you could've asked for. No 176 above the recepcion with a terrace and wonderful sea view, 2 double bedrooms, newly fitted kitchen and new bathroom- absolutely amazing as it had also provided a private parking.
Overall a great place to stay and relax as it is a very quiet complex, well kept and looked after. Teh complex is dived in few sections, Las Palomas 1 (beautiful around the pool), Las Palomas - also great, Las Gaviotas (small with no sea view) and Las Pardelas (least atractive)
All area surrounded with beautiful trees and flowers. The pool very clean with plenty of sunbeds. The beach within 3 min walk. However if you have a car I recommend to drive another 5-10min south to reach absolutely stunning Sotavento beaches, and Playa Yandia.
The resort is mainly German. Receptionists Beate and Melanie are extremely hepful and doing a great job.
Complex close to all shops you need: Spar, bakery, post office and restaurants. Mammia Mia restaurant worth visit, but If you fancy paella, remember to order it one day in advance.
Bahia Calma is type of place where you want to come back again :)
